Excellent, excellent, excellent food and service! This is one of my favorite restaurants in the DFW area!!
Celebrated Valentine’s on the weekend after Valentine’s Day with my family, sister, and parents!
Unfortunately, steak first option selection for both me and wife were not available, ran out of it. Explanation provided by the server was a non-expected attendance. Well, not happy about that, but everything else was good as usual
My family took my 83-year-old mother to Texas for her birthday. When we arrived, they told us that we were to be seated upstairs and that there was no bathroom on that floor. I explained that my mom needed to be near a restroom and they responded that they could move us downstairs but we would have to wait about 40-50 minutes for a table. "My mom walks with a cane and has COPD. Can't navigate stairs," I said. They said, "there's an elevator". This is a big restaurant. It's an expensive restaurant. I would've expected better from a Wamstad restaurant. Plus we waited almost an hour for our food! My mom ended up having an accident on the way to the restroom. We had to box our food up and leave as a result. Wow.
Great meal and great service....we will definitely come back here again.
Our experience at Texas was wonderful. Wait staff was always on point, very attentive and helpful with the menu. I really loved the lyonaise potatoes, in fact so much that I tried to recreate them at home...not as good as yours but you inspired me. We will be coming back again..
Thank you for a lovely evening..
Great environment for an evening out. Everything was wonderful. Server Amy was good, but could have been just a little better to put the evening over the top.
While the restaurant was quite busy for Valentine's Day weekend, we didn't wait long for a table, the waitstaff was very attentive, and the food was incredible. They brought a steak knife for the meat, but it wasn't needed - you could cut it with a fork. Cooked to perfection. We struck up a conversation with the couple at the table next to us. Great relaxed atmosphere with a touch of class.
A very nice, upscale steak house, well run with plenty of wait staff, and Dale Wamsted (owner/proprietor?) has always been there in the evenings, especially the weekends. Can be some what noisy, but still a good value with good ambiance.
My only complaint with the food is that whenever we have eaten there, our steaks invariably come to the table under cooked from what we order (medium well). They have always asked for us to cut into the steak and check, and have no problem with having the steaks cooked more when they are underdone.
What I don't understand is why a high end steak house can't cook their steaks the way they are ordered in the first place. Usually a runner brings out the plates, not the waiter/waitress who takes our order, so he doesn't know how we ordered them in the first place. Apparently no one checks the steaks before they are brought to the table. This may be minor, but it is a consistent irritation.
Outstanding restaurant in every way! Food is delicious, steaks are as good, if not better, than the fancy steak houses (for half the price!), and service was exceptional! Third time there, and it’s still just as good as the first time!
Food and atmosphere was great.
Everything was delicious and the service was great.
Food was good but overall based on the service, the ambiance, and everything else it was not worth the price or the hype it gets.
First time visit. Great place. Love the commercials on KRLD 1080.
The atmosphere, food and service were outstanding. We love Texas!
Outstanding again. Thank you.
The restaurant in itself was great but the waitress we had was on the snide side. I have a severe allergy to Seafood and when I asked was there another menu besides the Valentine's menu which only included seafood or steak her response was well I keep a bunch of benadryl in my car. This statement upset my fiance because I could die from an allergic reaction so benadryl is not an appropriate response. Also I do not really like steak which is the other reason I asked about a different menu choice. Then once we all ordered I asked for the steaks that myself and my best friend ordered to be medium well plus... and when they arrived they were still bleeding which means we had to send them back and wait more time while our dates ate alone. I was not impressed by the service at this establishment and I love going to different restaurants by the reviews on Open Table. This one did not live up thi the expectation.
Texas was okay.
For a planned night like Valentine's Day, I would have expected the TVs off, so it was a strange vibe for a V-day special menu night with contrast of live music.
Food was mediocre - filet mignon nothing special. Most delicious thing was the Sweet Potato Jalepeno soup.
Service was decent - I did not feel like it was over and above anything you would get elsewhere.
Wonderful drinks, fantastic menu options and some of the very best service I have experienced in the DFW area in quite a while. All of the food was prepared to our expectations and the Desserts were out of this World! We will return again as regulars!
Always a great experience! Valentines dinner with my wife and daughter was fabulous. The extra touch of giving both of them a red rose and great.
I will go there 1 more time to make sure it just wasn’t a bad first time since it was valentines. Didn’t know it was going to be a set menu considering your about to spend a couple of hundred dollars on a meal. I would not put this place in the same category as Perry’s, Del Frisco, Bobs, Fleming or capital grill
Great food and atmosphere
Great restaurant. Everything was great except for the room. We were in a banquet room that had been converted into a room with several small tables. Some may have liked this change but we felt a little too secluded. Will still go back but stay away from this type of set up.
We really enjoy special occasions at Texas. The food, service and staff are fabulous!
I wish they would have had an extended menu for Valentines Day. The steaks were both undercooked. Great staff and ambiance for a nice, romantic dinner.
Have visited many times. Only issue that we had was after having early reservations was first seated in the bar which we objected on Valentine’s Day. It would have been more courteous to ask if we were ok being seated in the bar area. We were moved to the dining area here there were other diners where we felt more comfortable for the occasion. Other than that the evening was good. Waiter was great as well as the food. Friendly atmosphere.
Valentine’s Day menu was superb.
Second time to try this restaurant. My boss gives us $150 gift certificates the last couple years. Loved the sweet potato fries and the steamed veggies were pretty good. My wine choice, Franciscan Cab, was delicious. My filet, 6 oz, I liked it butterflied & med well, was dry and very grainy. It lacked flavor. I asked for peppercorn gravy because it was dry and when the bill came I was charged $3 for a 2 ounce cup. First time here was somewhat uneventful too but since I keep getting gift cert for here, I'll keep coming back and maybe one day the food will live up to the hype. I'm a simple kind of girl and spending $160 plus a $35 tip I expect so much more. Of course $150 was a gift but still...
Also, we waited about 15 mins to have someone wait on us and when she got there she looked a little put out. She did pretty well the rest of the evening thou.
Excellent restaurant. Great food, quality and atmosphere.
Excellent service, excellent wine selections, excellent food.
One thing, noise level is too high for business dinners.
Loved it. Great food. Great service. Great people.
Texas is one of our favorite places to eat. The atmosphere is relaxed but classy. The staff is very personable and creates a family/friend atmosphere. The food is always top shelf no matter what you select.
We went to Texas with a total of 6 friends and sat in the main dining room. The atmosphere is eclectic and fun and everyone enjoyed their meals. Del came by a couple of times and treated us like royalty. We all loved it.
Excellent food, great atmosphere and reasonably priced!
Excellent restaurant run by fantastic people. The staff from top to bottom is outstanding. The food is delicious and the ambience in the restaurant is great. Regardless of the event this is a great place to go and eat some amazing food and have a good time. Highly recommended to anyone and everyone.
We had another great time at Texas! The food was great, but it was a little louder than I remembered. The service was great, and we will definitely go again! Great place to take a date!
We went to Texas as an Early Valentines dinner. We got a shrimp cocktail and Bam Bam Shrimp for apps. Both were good - especially the Bam Bam Shrimp. The wife got Sea Bass, green beans and potatoes. It was all Ok but nothing special. I got flash fried Red Fish, potates and burned corn (I think that is what they called it). The corn was very good but the potatoes were just OK and the Red Fish really under seasoned. The place is really cool inside and the staff was attentive. They say their steaks are really good so if we went back it would be to try their steak. If I sent someone I would tell them to not eat the seafood.
First time here. We really enjoyed the meal. Food cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. Very goid experience and we will be back. Highly recommended.
It wasn't as "romantic" as hoped. We were seated next to a loud bar area. OpenTable also sent me an email that flagged me as a no-show even though we went.
Shelby Rose and her staff took excellent care of us. The service at Texas is incredible. You can see that the family culture is evident in their attention to the customer.
