Texas Spice Ratings and Reviews
The WORST. I was so excited about recommending this restaurant, based upon the reviews, for our department holiday lunch. Not good. We were greated with "there is no buffet today because we are short on staff". We did not know they offered a buffet. We were seated and then rushed to order a drink. (Please slow down). The menu items we specifically came for are not served during lunch (not true) or were not available because they are seasonal. (Shrimp and Crab) - not so. Shrimp and Cheese Grits were watery and really tasted and looked like processed cheese. The grits were slight and the shrimp cold and unseasoned (probably prepared by a cook and not a chef). I dumbed-down my order and went with the standard Chicken Fried Steak - AWESOME - it was huge! The mashed potatoes were normal and green beans were overcooked, although the flavor was really good. Needless to say, I took home leftovers. I cannot eat Texas-sized meals at one sitting so I always have leftovers - not a bad thing. My meal was still good the next day. (Our desserts were from freezer or cooler to our table. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice and the view was a very long fireplace and outdoor seating.
Everything was good for a first time visit and our waiter was very friendly. The manager did come and check on us which was nice. I really enjoyed the buffet and will bring my husband back for a date. The only issue was the waiter had a hard time with the tickets and no one seemed to really know the policy on validating the parking.
We had a wonderful dinner and a nice bottle of wine at a table with a view of the outdoor fireplace. It was a special night. The chef sent out a wonderful sampling of hot sausage with barbecue and we were sent out with wonderful cookies for later. Thank you for an evening to remember!
Very disappointing. During the four day convention we had breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was nothing special. It was bland, vegetables were raw, steak was dry and overcooked, "Flat bread" was not close to flat, it was closer to deep dish pizza. The service was so poor that dinner and drinks took over two hours to finish.
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Texas Spice. With it being in a hotel (Omni), we didn't know what to expect, but we were not disappointed. Our server Jose was attentive, courteous and interactive with us when inquired about something. They had a buffet (unexpected by us) and the options were vast and the quality of the food was very good (soup, salad, side dishes, main entrees, dessert). It by far was the best bargain at $21/person, but all of the entrees were moderately priced with good size portions. Two of the four in our party opted for the buffet and the others ordered from the menu. We celebrated a birthday for one in the party and the server was great in surprising him with a complementary dessert. All the staff was friendly and the rustic (southwestern) atmosphere was inviting. We live in the area and dined here prior to attending an event at the downtown performance arts theater. We will definitely come back here in the future!
Friend and I met here for dinner. Food was great - service from Deborah was outstanding! My friend and I hadn't seen each other for a while so it was a long dinner but we were never rushed. We ordered al carte but the buffet looked good too. The people at the next table told us the buffet is great - they come to Texas Spice just for it.
This was simply the best dining experience I've ever had. I left as a note in my reservation that I was proposing to my girlfriend before we came to the restaurant, and the staff went above and beyond to ensure that the experience was romantic and memorable! Almost every staff member we saw congratulated us, they reserved us a beautiful table, decorated it, and ensured that the entire experience was very intimate. The food was also amazing! The best short rib I've ever had and delicious fried green tomatoes as an appetizer. I can't recommend Texas Spice enough and I want to thank them for such a wonderful experience!!!
I made a reservation for 12 for a business lunch. My group came back talking about how great their experience was. There was a buffet set up (which was a bit surprising because when I made the reservation I did not see that anywhere on their website), but my group said the food was great, they were prepared for a large group and they had a great experience.
The service was great and very welcoming. I ordered the egg white omelet no cheese with veggies and it was outstanding and full of flavor. The breakfast potatoes were also really tasty with a crunchy (not burned) exterior and a perfect consistency (not mushy). Would absolutely recommend for any meal!
I love Texas Spice. I'm retired but like to take friends there for lunch. We asked to move to a quieter table and staff was very accommodating. Food is excellent.
Oh. Valet parking could be tweaked. Traffic coordinator needed to encourages drivers not to block lanes.
Very nice, especially for a hotel restaurant. They had a buffet with really good food and very reasonable pricing. The server was very accommodating and allowed our disabled son to eat from our buffet plate the. Super nice staff. These simple things are never expected but really are encouraging to special needs families.
Our server was outstanding. She was friendly, made great recommendations and knew her stuff. The lobster and kale dip was the best part of the meal, a really good appetizer. As for everything else...just OK. I had the steak and it was one of the fattiest steaks I've ever had. It was a ribeye, I understand that, but this was above and beyond that.
They have two Manhattans on the menu. It's my favorite drink so I ordered one. They shook it. It's on the menu, and they still shook it! I was disappointed to say the least.
The food we had was not terrible by any means, but not worth the price in a city filled with dining options.
Each plate from apps to dessert seemed to get better than the previous. The crab cakes, kale dip, meatball bites and deviled eggs were superb. I ordered the short ribs and they are the best I have ever tasted. Our friends were so impressed by the food they asked for the chef to please come out to personally thank him for the exquisite meal. He was so kind to come to our table to say hi and let me know they cook the short ribs for 72 hrs. We loved all of it and we can not wait to go back.
I was hesitant to book a team dinner here, because of the buffet. I have a 'lower opinion' of dinner buffets. But this restaurant was close to our hotel and it had 4.5 out of 5 stars from Yelp, so I booked it. NOT DISAPPOINTED! Of the 7 people in my group, 5 ordered the buffet (myself included). The food was fantastic! Farm to table, down home, slight bend toward 'southern'. We loved it. My team had a great time and we left 'stuffed'!! Great food, good service, nice atmosphere! HIGHLY Recommend!!!
It was overall a good experience. The waitress was excellent and caring. Some of the food was good and some only OK. Chopped salad was not "chopped" or mixed, basically iceberg lettice with quartered eggs and other ingredients put on top. The deviled egg fillings was just pureed egg yolks with a few toppings. The potato chip paneed schnitzel was ok but tough to cut and more bread than pork. The place was nice and the hotel excellent. I would go there again and order differently.
Sunday Brunch was very good except they ran out of biscuits for about 20 minutes. The plate was empty on the buffet table for 10 minutes while I informed the omelet chef. He could have cared less. He wasn't busy when I told him why I was standing there for 10 minutes and then gave me the normal response, "They are bringing them". All he had to do was open the kitchen door and say, "Out of biscuits!" So another 5 minutes and I had a waiter ask me if I needed something. He seemed to care and tried to find a kitchen supervisor. Another 5 minutes and a new plate of 20+ biscuits was finally brought out. Disappointed in $20 buffet when they can't keep food available.
