Extremely loud due to huge event adjacent, made us want to get out of there ASAP.
Drink order took a very long time, then salad and entrees served together. Shrimp and grits very salty, swimming in liquid. Salad good.
The food was good. The service was only fair. The restaurant was out of all the wines we were interested in, and our server had no knowledge of wine and was not helpful in answering our questions about alternative selections.
Went for lunch. Soups, salads, sandwiches, etc. I had the brisket tacos and they were great. Husband had the chopped salad and he thought it was perfect. Kids had burger and chicken salad sandwich. They were happy. I recommend this restaurant. It’s in the Omni hotel.
Went for new year, food and service were good!
Mediocre at best. Some entrees were good and some were close to inedible. Not up to par for an Omni hotel restaurant in my book
The food was over priced and depended on the clientele being lovers of fried food. Nothing more than very expensive pub grub 😝
We absolutely love this restaurant!! We go here once a month and actually stayed overnight this past weekend. A++++
Very knowledgeable on what was available gluten free and made great recommendations!
The food was amazing and our server was excellent! Unfortunately when we used our free drink coupons they charged our room for the drinks.
Angenette our server was fabulous!!
This is my third visit. The first two times were great; however, the food and service have seriously digressed. I invited three friends. First, the waitress did not know the menu. The catfish had a nice crispy crust; but the inside was just shy of fully cooked. The coleslaw was stringy. I asked to substitute the slaw for a salad. The waitress mixed up our orders and ran one of my friend's credit cards twice.
This was my first time here and even though I read bad reviews, I still decided to make reservations. My husband and I stayed at the Omni, we choose this restaurant so we didn't have to leave the hotel. We were celebrating our 1st anniversary and we were looking forward for a great experience. First of all, our server was very rude. I made reservations for 9pm and he immediately said to order quickly because the restaurant closes at 10pm. That shouldn't matter, kitchen is not closed! Then we received our food which didn't take more than 10 min to get there which was very odd. I was craving the Shrimp & Grits plate but it was horrible. It was way salty, too salty you couldn't eat it. I told the server and he responded very loud and annoyed that I could get anything from the buffet table. Dessert was not good either. I was very disappointed.
We got charged for mimosa which no one received , I had order a spirite . It was ok the food was decent nothing that I would refer or go back it's a nice place
We go here when we come to Dallas. Food is always great! Service is amazing as well👍
My family and I ate here to celebrate my birthday and a celebration it was. The food and service were both great!
My staff and I dine at Texas Spice every year during the Southwest Dental Conference because everyone loves the buffet. This year, the buffet was closed without any word from the restaurant. As a result everyone was ordering from the menu and wait times were longer.
The biggest issue was the waiter. One of the staff asked if a dish could be modified (vegetarian), and the waiter told her it probably could. She began to order, but the waiter told her that she needed to slow down and that she was adding too many things. I am also vegetarian, and had ordered the dish with meat on the side. I asked if I could change my order to vegetarian as well, and the waiter said, "No, I don't recommend that you do that because it will already take a long time to get your food because of her" (pointing to the other vegetarian staff member). He continued, "that means you, you, you, you will have to wait for your food because she wants this." So I said never mind, just bring it with the meat on it, and he left.
After almost an hour, we went to the hostess to ask about our food because we needed to get to our next course. The hostess disappeared around the corner, returned and told us that we were "next". I suspected that the waiter was trying to prove a point by taking a long time to serve us, which was supported by the fact that when our food was brought to us less than five minutes later it was barely warm. Both vegetarians had ordered grilled cheeses, so, if it was actually her order that made our lunch late, you'd think at least hers would be hot. But cheese was hardened, fries were cold, etc.
So to Texas Spice: Be more aware of what is going on around you before you decide to close a buffet during a conference. And offer your staff diversity training. Your waiter would not have been questioning orders or belittling us had we been a table full of MALE doctors. The food would have been great hot, but, sadly, the service was so bad that no one wants to return.
I always enjoy bringing groups to Texas Spice. This time was a bit of a challenge for the attendees to enjoy the buffet due to our arrival time, but the service provided by our wait staff made up for it. :) I will continue t bring groups to Texas Spice.
Chef Avery is the best and prepared a wonderful 3 course meal!
The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the staff is very attentive. That being said, it did seem that our server was new and possibly not super familiar with the menu. I'm also fairly certain that our drink order was mixed up. The food was just okay. Not bad, just nothing to get too excited over. We were entertaining guests from out of town that were visiting Dallas for the first time so a bit disappointing that this was their first taste of Texas. Overall, the whole experience was not bad and the views of downtown at night were nice.
Birthday breakfast for my son. Great food!
Our server must have been new. We didn’t get drink refills in a timely manner. We ordered gravy on the side but it was on our chicken fried steak. Our friends didn’t get their food the same time we did.
Breakfast buffet was amazing. Good value for $22
I really like this restaurant and was surprised it was not as busy as I expected. The food is good and so is the service and setting. I'll definitely be returning!
Great staff! Goes above and beyond to make your experience the best. Chicken Fried Steak a must try.
The chicken fried steak was heavily breaded, I would prefer a bit less breading.
Outstanding breakfast buffet!! Definitely recommend!
We go to Texas Spice at least once a year (we live in Michigan but make it a point to stop while we are in town for my business convention) the French toast is literally my favorite breakfast dish of all time. I have never had a bad experience at this restaurant they always go above and beyond. Javier was our server on this particular visit and i now have a new bar set high for server expectations. He was the most polite and on top of everything server I have had. The food was great, the price was reasonable, and Javier couldn’t have done his job any better.
Love the restaurant set up, decor and location - Service was below average and food was just OK - would go back, hoping it was an off night
Great for Sunday brunch with friends. Food could be a little better but it wasn’t bad. Will visit again. Great price!
The food was hot but I was expecting more of an upscale restaurant vibe. We stayed at the Omni for a staycation and really wanted a romantic and quiet dinner. The food was hot (definitely a plus) but didn’t deliver on the “unique” or “upscale” dining I was hoping for.
Spouse birthday celebration with children
Our party of 9 TRIED to surprise my finance for and early fathers day. Everyone was in the restaurant waiting on him to arrive. When I walked in with him and said the reservation name...the hostess said and I quote...your party is over there and they closed the doors for a surprise. Really, Texas Spice...ask your hostesses to just stick with seating guests and keep their mouth shut. She ruined the surprise!
Our waiter was outstanding and very nice and just made my wife and I feel at home, It was out anniversary and he went out of his way to make the evening very pleasant. I very sorry I forgot his name , but look it up. He deserves some type of award for the service he provided.
A group of 7 of us went to Texas Spice for brunch. Our server, Amanda, was phenomenal. She went above and beyond to make sure that we not only enjoyed our meal, but our entire weekend in the area. The food was delicious, and the prices are very reasonable for what you get, especially right in downtown Dallas. Next time I'm in town, I'll certainly be making another trip to Texas Spice!
I had the salt and pepper ribs and they were awful. No smoke ring or flavor and smothered in gooey sweet BBQ sauce. This does not even slightly resemble Texas BBQ. Order something else.
Appetizers were good.
The food was not the best, the burger was cold. I expected the lettuce & tomato to be cold but so was the meat. Lighting was not good at our table,it was spotty ,depending on which chair you were in.
I have had much better for the price.
hardly any choice for vegetarians or pescatorians. Fish was overcooked for taco. Taste wasnt that special. Staff wanted us out of there quick so they could leave at 10. Overall, i dont know how this place gets the reviews it has
Bartender was amazing. Great service and very kind! Dinner wasn’t as great. Server wasn’t very warm and was extremely difficult to understand. Food was suboptimal as it was barely warm and hardly any seasoning. We all ended up sick the next morning too. Stick to the drinks at the bar, and far away from the food.
Read the reviews and decided to give it a try. Access is tricky given its in the Omni Hotel. Once we arrived, it was quite empty. Food was really good. Our server was Über attentive. (Then again, there weren’t too many patrons at the time of our dining.). Beautiful decor. A great place to sit at the bar or outside by the fire pit with a beverage.
