Texas de Brazil - Norfolk
Nice restaurant, however the over saltiness of the food ruined our experience. We'll definitely not take another chance on it since it isn't cheap.
My husband and I went there for our anniversary. Staff was very attentive and prompt. We got a free dessert because of our special occasion. Will definitely be back in the future.
Been to San Diego, Chicago, Jacksonville, Memphis, st.lous, and Vegas location food was spectacular. Saturday night was the first time I went to the Norfolk location since I been stationed in Norfolk. Food was horrible and over cooked, but the waiter was so good it made up for the crap they brought out!SMH
Great food and table service as always; hostess was about as cold and rude as possible.
The food was just fabulous! The service was also very speedy and they were very busy that night. The only issue we had was the bill. We were told on the phone that the 20% military discount was good for 4 people on one ID and we had several people in our group who was military or veteran. They were not going to give our other guests their discount because we were a party of 10 although each couple was paying their own. Then one of our guests had a gift card and military ID and could not use both! Too many restrictions that were not posted. The restaurant is very expensive but the food was amazing!
Can’t say enough about how wonderful this restaurant is. The service and food is great. The coffee is of the best I’ve ever had. They treat you special here!
It was amazing
Delicious food, Great atmosphere, Attentive service. We loved it!!
I was excited to spend my Birthday here as I have not been in this particular location. It was a Wednesday and we arrived around 8 PM. I reserved my table but still had to wait 20 minutes to be sat down. The place had 9 tables occupied and yet the food arrived on ten to fifteen minute intervals. The food that was being served to us are close to the bone by the time it hits our table. Asked us what cuts we wanted 4 times before getting the wrong temperature for said cut. We all wanted the picanha medium well but we got rare eventhough weve waited almost 45 minutes for it to be delivered. The servers had attitude as much as they moved slow. It was a shame as the food itself was delicious. The service was just horrendous.
We booked a table for our anniversary and from the moment we walked in we were greeted and treated like royalty. Every employee was courteous and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Tricia was our server and she was phenomenal. The food was delicious and it was just a wonderful experience overall. We will be back.
Would just like to thank them all for doing an amazing job!
We always have such a great experience here. This time, not so much. We were seated far in the back next to a 13 person table and our servers kept passing us up. We had to ask for more meat 3 times before someone came to our table to offer us anything.
They did give us free desserts at the end because of the inconvenience but it just wasn't our best visit.
We’ve been here a few times and it’s always been amazing, this time though the food took forever to reach our side, Came burnt or cold, we understood it was a holiday making it busy, but the staff kept going in the same direction that once it reached the other side of the restaurant they had nothing left. The waiter also kept forgetting the bread, mashed potatoes and bananas, while I understand personally how busy it may get on Mother’s Day, there was a bit of poor communication between the staff although one of the managers did step up and help out the wait staff & was able to reconfigure how the food was being brought out.
Awesome food and service! Can’t wait to go back on a later date.
I made a reservation to Texas de Brazil for my husband last weekend. I was so excited to try it after the last time we tried Tuscany in Newport News and was extremely disappointed as I ended up getting sick from the food. For starters, Texas de Brazil offers a wonderful spread of cold items at their salad bar, which I was very pleased with. Their hot bar lacked a lot such as the lobster bisque that barely had any lobster in it. When it came to the meats, we were continuously given the option of rare meat when my husband specified for well done. Even after talking to the manager, we were still waiting on well done options well over 30 minutes. Our server kept forgetting to bring out our mash potatoes and bananas as we didn't receive them until well into the meal. The highlight of the evening was a young man name Dereon who was attentive to our needs and supplied us with the shrimp kabobs upon request. Overall, extremely disappointed especially since this was suppose to be a special event
Food was delicious, service was great. Scenery was very comfortable and elegant. Will definitely be going back this time really on an empty stomach. Gotta try it..
I enjoyed myself with my mother and sister. The servers was very attentive to my needs. The food was awesome. If you want water make sure you say tap or sparkling water. Other than that my visits was wonderful. I will return.
This recent experience Norfolk was not as great as the first experience in Richmond, VA. I liked the experience in Richmond because we established a connection with the server because he had a lot of knowledge about the drinks and food in the restaurant. My husband and I were disappointed because we spent a lot of money for good food and the bathrooms in the Norfolk establishment were really disgusting.
It took a long time for the grilled shrimp and the beef filet to get to our table but other than that the service was wonderful.
The food and service was excellent. I will be back there again in the future.
We've been to Texas de Brazil a number of times but this time was probably the best overall experience at a Norfolk restaurant in quite awhile. The service has been a bit up and down before but the two young ladies this time, Trish and Layla, were outstanding, even on a pretty crowded night. I'm not a huge beef eater normally but there are a few choices that are just fantastic! And it's fun to be able to sample all of them, if you choose. There's so much to love about the salad bar, if that's all you want...and the lobster bisque is YUM! It's a little pricey evening but it's still a favorite and totally worth it!
I went with my mother for teacher appreciation day. On the email it said to bring a valid form of employment- most places will accept a pay stub, but this restaurant did not. I was a little disappointed because it is an expensive restaurant and a big reason I went was because I thought it would be 50% off. I received 20%, which I am grateful for, but I would recommend being more specific with emails. If a teacher ID (which I left at home) was the ONLY form they accepted, THAT should have been stated in the email. The food was extremely slow. We were there for just over an hour and a half (spent about 15mins eating from the salad bar) and I only got 6 pieces of meat, and was only offered 10. I spent over half of the meal with an empty glass of water because our waitress kept walking by and when she DID interact with our table to tell us sorry for it being so slow, it’s like she was in a hurry and walked away before I could ask her for more water. I love this restaurant, and I have left amazing reviews in the past. This was by far the worst visit. I hope in the future it will be better.
Thank you for supporting our Military. We were there for our Son in the Navy on his 21 Birthday
The food was very salty and the service was very slow.
Pro tip - don’t let them know your a newbie. Get a drink that has free refills (like sweet tea, not soda!) and if they ask you about sparkling or flat water say no thanks. Refills are like $5 each and if you pick that water it’ll cost you $6. But don’t worry they will have perfectly good FREE water at the table when you get back. Also don’t fill up on the salad bar and take your time. This is a marathon, not a sprint. If you do it right you will be enjoying one of the best meals the area has to offer and it doesn’t have to break the bank if you know what you’re doing.
Wonderful atmosphere and dining experience! The food was very delicious and the staff was very accommodating. It was a veritable parade of meats that tantalized the senses!
It is the equivalent to an all you can eat buffet and attracts all you can eat buffet people. I like a good buffet but I wanted to take my girlfriend to a romantic dinner and that didn't happen.
The food was wonderful. The salad bar was beautiful and so was the restaurant. I went to have my senior prom dinner and it was lovely. I will be coming back.
This will be a very detailed review and comparison to another well known Brazilian Steakhouse.
My wife and I decided to try Texas de Brazil for a well deserved date night. We were not disappointed! This was our fist experience with Texas de Brazil but not our first Brazilian churrascaria. We absolutely love this style of restaurant. Our first experience with a Brazilian Steakhouse was some time ago when my family took my wife and I to Fogo de Chao in Scottsdale, AZ for my birthday. We fell in love with this unique culinary experience. Since we absolutely loved Fogo de Chao, we were a little worried that Texas de Brazil would not measure up. From our first bite of the perfectly cooked, tender, juicy meat, our fears were alleviated! What makes Texas de Brazil stand out for us was the way they cook their meats. All Brazilian steakhouses cook over a live fire but Texas adds a slight twist that makes a ton of difference. They bring a "Texas" flair to the way they cook by using Mesquite wood to roast their meats! This adds another layer of flavor to their meat that is truly AMAZING! The meats were a perfect medium rare. In my opinion, the only way to eat beef! Although all the beef servings were delicious, what truly amazed us was the flank steak. Flank steak is one of the most flavorful cuts but normally is less tender than the other cuts of beef. I say "normally" because Texas somehow imparted magic to the flank steak and made it nearly as tender as a ribeye. It was probably our favorite bite of the meal. All of their beef, from the fillet to sirloin to the garlic steak are exceptional but the flank steak was truly a "cut above" so to speak. Our disappointment was with the bacon wrapped chicken breast. It was a little on the dry side. As was the pork tenderloin. Where Fogo has them beat is the salad area. Far more choices of charcuterie and salad offerings. However, unless you are going for the salad area alone, Texas de Brazil, in my opinion is superior.
It couldn't have been better
Excellent service best lamb chops
Everything is excellent beside the fact you can't take home the food you have left over on your plate.
Overall the experience was good. Our seats were ready within 5 minute after we arrived. It was at the peck of dinner so the meat was coming out slow and especially medium - well done. When we asked about military discount which we have received before we were told that they do not offer military discounts during special events, not sure what the special event was, we were celebrating our anniversary, that disappointed us.
The service was very slow. Our waiter only came by to refill after we had eaten. Never asked if we needed anything. You pay good money to eat there you should get good service.
Great food, great service, all in Downtown Norfolk
We have been to Texas de Brazil many times. Always a great experience with great food. We went on Easter and were pleasantly surprised by the complimentary drinks and dessert.
Great food, great service. Bring your appetite. The portions and quality were perfect!
Great place to eat. Would recommend to anyone. Love going here to eat.
Texas de Brazil is a great restaurant with awesome staff. The atmosphere is quite inviting and the food is superb. The salad bar was delicious and the selection of meats keeps you coming back for more. Since we were celebrating my birthday, they gave me a complimentary dessert. We definitely will be back.
Our server is great, his name is delan, over all experience is excellent
Our waitress was fabulous! At times we did have to wait for the food servers to make their rounds and sometimes they all arrived at once. However, that would not deter me from making a return trip.
