Texas de Brazil - Houston Ratings and Reviews
I would say this place falls short of the experience you would have at other Houston churrasquerias, such as Chama Gaucha or Fogo de Chao. Additionally, even though when I booked I made sure to put a note of it being our 7 year wedding anniversary, they brought out a Happy Birthday dessert (which we only got because it was free, but later it was charged since we used gift cards to pay for the bill). The part where the manager came and explained that we would be charged for the dessert due to us paying with gift cards ruined the experience. Its not about the charge, it's about the lack of thoughtfulness and how that would affect our experience. After going to Chama Gaucha and Fogo de Chao dozens of times, I know such a move would have never been made. They go above and beyond to ensure you have a wonderful time.
Additionally, Texas de Brazil did not have many meats that these other locations have. Their salad bar also has less options and was sub par is selection and quality.
Overall I would not recommend this place. Would definitely take my business elsewhere. I should have listening to the warnings of all my Brazilian friends, but I thought I'd try something new for this special occasion. Big mistake.
Meat was tough except for fillet. Lamb was tough. Service was not good. Had to ask for things several times including drinks. People standing in isles. Not good for family experience because we had to keep asking for food or drinks. Waited 25 minutes for dessert. Never going back. For family Christmas dinner it was such a disappointment.
Good looking restaurant with what I consider average quality food. Although it is a Brazilian steakhouse I found the variety of meats and salad bar quite limited for the price. Service was poor. Server was nowhere to be found when required. Good for a first try but I will not visit a 2nd time.
We have eaten here quite a few times with just us and with friends and family and for a regular meal and for special occasions. We have always enjoyed it so this time we chose to dine here for Thanksgiving. What a waste of time and money. The first time through with the servers the meat was outstanding. That was the highlight of the night. Every thing after that really didn't have any taste and everything pretty much tasted the same. A real lack of seasoning. The turkey that was being served for Thanksgiving was all white meat and was very dry and hard, no mashed potatoes, just plain white rice and the gravy that was there was kind of weird and really didn't go with anything. Yum. Then, my wife ordered a glass of wine to wash down the turkey and the waiter brought her a bottle instead and charged us for it. We pointed out the issue and he said that he had brought us a bottle of wine that wasn't served by the glass so we were stuck with it. That was an extra $40 that shouldn't have been on the bill. Great upcharge for him trying to bring up the bill total. I had the chocolate mouse cake. It should be light but rich in flavor. Instead it was very dense, sticky and heavy. The lobster bisque was excellent as always. What a disappointment. We will not be coming back for a very long time if ever again.
We have been here many times. Our first time was amazing. Our other visits have been in big parties in a quiet back room.
The food is okay at times. Hit and miss with huge amounts of salt. The lamb was extremely fatty.
It's just not worth the price. I can go to better steakhouses and actually get what I want portion size with much less noise. Two years ago this place was a great date destination. Now it's become a Golden Corral type of destination for people in shorts and noisy kids.
I had a birthday dinner here and the reservation was for 9:00pm. There was something that happened on the Beltway while I was traveling and was stuck in traffic for over an hour. I didnt make it to the restaurant until 10:20pm and they close at 10pm but still served me as if I were on time. Service was nice and they didn’t have an attitude. My party was there on time and they all told me that this was an experience of a life time. I will be back SOON.
