Texas de Brazil - Fairfax Ratings and Reviews
The expansion of the space has made the experience less pleasing. The dining area was both cold and very loud. We were there to celebrate the return of a family service member from an overseas assignment. Our servers were gracious when engaged but seemed extremely overworked and were gone for relatively long periods of time between checking on our table. The food was exceptional as usual but the whole experience was rather average.
I heard about TDB through a friend, who once promised to get together there, but we can add that to his short list of empty promises. Anyway, I decided to take my wife and colleague to TDB and we were blown away by the super delicious food and dessert. Will definitely make it back for dinner to see if it’s a big difference from it’s lunch setting.
Interesting experience, eating until you can’t eat anymore. Lots of meat choices, great. Potatoes, bread & plantains provides with meal, awesome. Side choices were very different & we felt they should have had little cards with descriptions on what they were. The gratin potatoes were totally watery & should not have been in any universe. All in all though, it was a good experience. Dessert should be included for the price.
Our dinner was very good. We were there for my daughter's birthday and at the end of the dinner, the staff recognized her with a special desert.
We were sure to enjoy the salad bar as well as their specialty beverages.
As always, the meat section was great, with the added choice of beef brisket.
We had a great evening and a wonderful dinner.
First time for my wife's birthday. Make reservations. The food is very good and the variety is the best I have seen in a while. Matches traditional European style restaurants that offer similar fare. Drinks and dessert are not included in the base price. All in all, the food was very good and offered at least 10 different types of cuts and types of beef, lamb, pork and chicken. Sometimes the food comes fast and you will want to tell the servers to comeback otherwise you get a full plate of absolutely delicious food that can get a bit cold. Well worth the time, price and quality.
We had never been to a Brazilian Steakhouse before, so I wasn't sure what to expect. The worst part was when we first arrived. Despite making a reservation online, the lobby was packed with people when we arrived a few minutes before our scheduled reservation time on New Year's Eve. They were even out of pagers, with so many being used, so we had to wait about 20 minutes just to get a pager. Then we had to wait more than 10 minutes after that before we were seated. There were just two of us, and once we were seated it was at a tiny little table adjacent to the major walkway through the restaurant. It wasn't horrible, but it definitely was not a quiet location. The salad bar had nice quality products but was not as big/did not have as large of a selection as I would have expected. The meats were definitely the highlight and we enjoyed sampling the different types. All in all, once we got to our seats it was a nice experience for a special occasion.
We have an exchange student from Maceio Brazil and she dined with us. She was able to compare your establishment with the steakhouse she and her family dine at in Brazil.
She said it compared favorably and she enjoyed dining and socializing. The one thing missing was her ability to speak to someone in Portuguese.
We hope to visit again soon
The waiter we had, I think his name was Jamie, was very pushy about buying alcohol. i can understand being professional and trying to make more money for the restaurant but he came off very uneasy and unnerving. He was not too personable either, and took some time to bring the sides to our table or drinks. Other than that, the food was really good.
Although, the restaurant should do better about explaining things. Such as plates and what to do when we are done with them or want another one. Also, the tables are pretty cramped which is why we got concerned about the plates.
We were looking forward to our first "date night" without our son for a good while and thought this would be a fun place to spend our evening. The staff are friendly and the service is average. We went on a Saturday night, which was busy, and the staff were overwhelmed by the amount of tables they needed to cover. It took us asking other servers to get us water refills because our server was too busy. Overall the salad bar is nice and has a lot of interesting options, but they ran out of a few items and didn't refill them for a good while.
My biggest complaint and I warn you this is not just mine but others that were there as well and from friends who have been there, the meats are extremely over seasoned and salty. I am cannot stress this enough that we had to literally trim the different meats they would come by with, so we could eat the parts that were not over salted. This was the biggest disappointment and the reason we will not return. Very disappointed and I would try one of their other competitors as I believe your experience will be a lot better than ours.
If you like your beef rare, then you will like the selection. They advertise the meat as medium rare however, it was more on the rare side. We asked for some medium beef (which you can request) however, it was dry and nearly charred. Cramped seating. Probably better places to go for $200 for a party of four.
Food servers are very rude, they drop the meat in your plate like they are in a hurry and busy
They make you feel you are bothering them
I ask for a specific part of the meat and server told me I have to take what is available, he was trying to force me to take a piece I didn’t want.
I have been to Texas de Brazil before and this time we were dining to celebrate a friend's birthday. Overall the service was good, our server always made sure to check on us if we were going okay, needed anything, and my water glass was hardly ever empty so I personally appreciate that. However, the food service started off pretty slow and there were some meats that we ate which were just way too salty. A person in our dinner party had never been to Texas de Brazil and quite honestly they were not impressed due to the high salt of the meats as well as there not being that many meat options. When I had booked the table I had stated that it was for a birthday and when we arrived at the restaurant again we were asked by the hostess what the occassion was and we had said birthday. I thought it was quite odd that we were asked a second time and when we told what the occassion was nothing happened after that. I would have thought that when telling an establishment that you are there celebrating something special whether it be a birthday, anniversary, etc. that some little effort would be made about it like a song, a dessert, or even the server simply saying something.
Noise level was out of control. Had to yell at my husband just to talk. Food was very salty. Everything from the salad bar and soup to the meat was extremely salty. Chairs were very uncomfortable. Al in all,I did not enjoy my dining experience and I would not recommend this place to anyone.
I took my husband to Texas de Brazil for his birthday. Food was okay, but would pork was a little tough and chicken a little dry. Beef and salad bar were good.
The main detractor was the service. I recognize we were here on a Friday night, but when you spend $200 for dinner, you expect things like water to be refilled or your server to bring the dessert try on the first two requests. Neither was done. When we asked for water, the server tried to sell us a second drink instead and seemed annoyed when we refused. He didn’t bring the water we requested and we had to ask another server after about ten minutes.
After dinner, we sat for almost 15 minutes before our server came back around. We asked him for the dessert tray. I was annoyed when he took it to the table next to us first when we’d clearly been waiting for a long time and the other table arrived after us and were just finishing their dinner. When we finally got the tray, he spoke too fast for us to understand and patronized us when we asked him questions about the items. He tried to sell us dessert drinks and again seemed annoyed when we refused.
The desserts were disappointing and we left them half-eaten. I only left a 15% tip which is very unusual for us because we understand a table for two does not generate a lot of revenue (especially when we only order 2 drinks). In this case, my normally very generous husband suggested 10% and I was disappointed that he didn’t enjoy his birthday dinner.
On whole, this restaurant was okay but there are other Brazilian steakhouses in the area.
This restaurant is good for meat lovers and that is why we took the young man we took who
was having a birthday. We are not big meat people so it is not a good value for us really. Our
waiter's English was hard to understand and we could have had better food service - mashed
potatoes got cold and we had to ask for more coffee with our dessert.
I would recommend this restaurant to only those who like this type cuisine. Did have nice
2 nd time here and will b back again its def a rare treat because it's extremely expensive with food drinks desert and tip we were in at $160 but u are catered to from the moment you walk in door the salad soup bar has everything you could ever want and the.meats are endless if you leave hungry its your own fault my long island iced tea was just right and dont forget desert its delicious
This was a Christmas work party for my team. Many have been before and they all loved as
Much as before. The price was perfect for my companies holiday budget (drinks excluded of course), even so, this will become our annual tradition for celebrating Christmas.
Thank you all for an amazing time. In fact my wife loves steak so much I may surprise her with a special visit in the months to come.
