Texas Cattle Company - St Petersburg, FL Ratings and Reviews
My son and I enjoyed his 20th Birthday meal. We always make sure to get the fried mushrooms they are delicious. The steaks are always a treat as well. The only thing is we were put in a back room which I 've never been in before and it was extremely musty smelling. Otherwise everything was satisfactory.
PLEASE BE WARNED ... DO NOT TAKE YOUR SPECIAL OCCASION HERE! Once it is known that you are a “Special Occasion” table the server knows that 18% gratuity will be charged and your SERVICE IS OVER.
The restaurant was not very busy and the reservations were made in advance for 5PM. The meals were average but the steaks were prepared properly. We specifically asked to be seated in an area without children; however, as soon as we were seated, a party with children was seated behind us. It was difficult to get refills on beverages and new silverware once it was taken by server. I brought a cake and after the server finally brought it out, she took another 10 minutes to bring us plates or a butter knife to cut it with. When the server finally returned with the three separate checks ( 5 members in party), we noticed that the 2 checks that did not have a Birthday Meal were penalized by not receiving the special early dinner prices for the Filet Mignon and they also charged 18% gratuity. The Manager would not come to the table when requested and I had to wait 8 minutes for him to come to the front to discuss the matter with him. He just told me, “that is our policy” with respect to overcharging gratuity and not honoring specials when one meal is free.
Go to Bascoms, E&E Stakeout, or even Long Horn... go anywhere else for your special occasion.
Cramped booths- no tables unless its a big group. Salad was swimming in dressing, wilted lettuce. 8 oz filet ordered medium rare. Both cane well done. We were as over done ss the steaks. Best part was manager comped the meal that we couldn't eat. Won't be back
Was really disappointed this visit. The menu has been reduced to the point of why bother. Our favorites Fried bacon and armadillo eggs are no longer offered. You can no longer get a lobster tail dinner or fish other than salmon. The steaks were cooked ok, but the filet sure didn't look like 8 oz, and the cowgirl also looked very small , and they just seemed over-aged....to the point where they almost tasted bad. We have been going to this restaurant for many years, but I don't think we will be back. Potatoes were cold. The fried mushrooms appetizer was good, and the salad and bread were great. Just not worth the prices anymore.
Our night was perfect except the waitress was rude when I asked about the menu, but then I think she realized she was being rude and changed her attitude..she is a rather large women no name tags and I don't remember her offering her name as she didn[t seem interested In us or her job.
We have been to the Texas Cattle Company many times. We always enjoy our dinners here.
My wife had Surf and Turf, and I took advantage of my birthday and took advantage of the free birthday steak, a nice T Bone. I generally prefer the ribeye, but the birthday steak rules have changed, so you can no longer use the value towards a higher priced entree. But I certainly appreciate the steak!
I added a lobster tail, which while good, was a bit dry- I'm one of those who prefer a boiled lobster, but I certainly ate it all!
I was disappointed to see a paring down of the menu again. The fried bacon appetizer is no longer available. They removed the huge shrimp cocktail from the menu probably two years ago. Sorry they are both gone. The excellent double cut Pork Chops are also no longer on the menu.
The salads are fantastic. The new update on potato skins- actually potato wedges- were a hit! They are called Potato Pachos. Sides were excellent- garlic potatoes, broccoli, sautéed mushrooms were all top notch.
As always, we had excellent service and a favorite server we've enjoyed over the years stopped by to chat as well. As always, the front of the house manager stopped by our table- we can't say enough about the service at this restaurant.
Have been going to TCC for 20 years and loved it. Something has happened in the last 6 months and now I must say it is terrible service staff attitude. I should have known something was wring when the parking lot was empty at 7pm and inside hardly any patrons. The Manager was confrontational, the food below average and the waiter was an amateur.
Went for Father's Day. We made a reservation, and glad we did. Service was attentive. Food took longer than we thought it should to come out of the kitchen, but it was delicious! Being that it was high volume that day, the food was understandably behind schedule. Highly recommend any steak there, and grilled asparagus. House wine (cabernet sauvignon) was good. We made it in time for happy hour, so there was a discount on the drinks. We did not order dessert, but it looked unimpressive (except for the tower of cheesecake!) because every other restaurant in town has the same thing on their dessert menu. Would definitely go again!
The steaks were excellent. Cooked to order and very flavorful. We love the salad and dinner rolls. The cajun mushrooms were great. The service was awesome too. Quinn had our dinner come out at a good pace and was very attentive. He kept our beverages filled.
The ad for Father's Day pictured a porterhouse steak but in the fine print it said T-bone. Also, only in the fine print, did it state that to enjoy the special you needed to purchase a regular price entrée and not the 6 oz filet weekly special that needed to be ordered before before 6 PM.
We have dined at Texas for 30 years and always went there for special occasions. In the last year we had 2 sub par meals and have not returned. We decided to try again and were disappointed in the food again. It took forever to get our food and the T bone was dry as was the filet. The service was excellent and the Manager Christina did comp us for the issues. I doubt we will return.
I have been to Texas Cattle Co. a few times in the past 4 months. Each time was a terrific experience. Though, I will say my latest visit was below par for Texas Cattle Co. in St. Pete, Fl. The reason for this was my boneless rib-eye steak. The steak was more well done than my request and the meat itself was quite "grizzly", meaning many pieces were streaked with hard seams and other features. The steak started out pretty good other than the cooking. As I got to about half way through it started to get hard to cut and chew. Since I was nearing the end, I know a restaurant requests you notify them as early as possible in to your meal. The "grizzle" were not normally as present in any of the more than 20 rib-eyes (my favorite) that I've consumed over many years from this restaurant owner group, Talk of the Town. Most of my visits have been to another Talk of the Town restaurant, Vito's Chop House in Orlando. I can say that the rest of our meal, the delicious salad and red-skinned mashed potatoes were as always, delicious. Our service by "Z" was also excellent. My score today reflects my dissatisfaction with my latest meal from Texas Cattle Co.
Very disappointed that "blue cheese chips appetizer" have been removed from the menu. We order these every time we come and now our favorite appetizer is gone. It is upsetting to have your favorite removed.
The food is great and always plenty to take home for the next day's meal.
The Texas Cattle Company had some great daily special dishes like the surf and turf. Plenty of delicious food a good value. Salad was good and the cheese biscuits were amazing! Our waitress was just average nothing memorable and we had to ask another server to bring us another place setting and more water. We went at 5:30 on a Sunday they were not that crowded but the manager did come over and ask us how we liked everything she appeared attentive.
Overall it was a good experience and I would recommend this restaurant. BTW they automatically added 15% gratituity for a table of 3 and we are used to giving at least 20% or more.
I have been coming to the Restaurant since 1988, when I first moved here. I had moved to Atlanta, GA. for Ten years, and moved back to Pinellas County. I wanted to re-visit Texas Cattle Co. for my Birthday after the long time away. It was just as good as when I left. Just great. Keep up the great job, I'll be back for another dinner, soon.
Waiter did a good job upselling our party on the "special" which included a full sized shrimp appetizer, a giant pepper crusted steak (porterhouse or 1 1/2 # ribeye) with truffle butter, asparagus, potato and a few fried mushrooms on the steak. Or course the all you care to eat salad was also included. The food was outstanding, but I would not pay extra for the truffle butter nor the side of asparagus, in the future. Our steak specials only had two stalks of asparagus.
When any restaurant adds in the tip it saddens me. But, the waiter truly deserved his tip this time.
Pretty much a nice meal, but I ordered my meal rare. The waiter brought out the food and realized that my meal was overcooked. He even stated "That's NOT rare." He offered to take it back to the kitchen while I watched the rest of my party eat, and I declined. He might have been doing his job to offer a replacement meal, but please...I don't want to be getting my relacement meal AFTER most of my dinner guests finish theirs. I think the restaurant needs a better service recovery plan, in my opinion.
Texas Cattle Company is one of our favorite steak joints! This restaurant reminds me of when I was a child going to a steak house, it's got great charm, ambiance and great food. The waiters are dressed in western wear and it's dark and cozy & romantic. I love this place, they have a great house salad and bread and both are all you can eat! My husband says the salad is the best that he has ever had!
Please change your hostess! One was rude and the one that sat us, thought she dressed for a night club not a nice restaurant. I am not a prude, I overhead many customers talking about her outfit of choice. The hostess behind the computer was not warm, not welcoming but rather bothered by doing her job. No hello, no anything. I realize it was a busy night but no exceptions as without customers you have no job. The food and waitress were good, the porterhouse was amazing the ribeye was a little too fatty for my liking but I am picky. The mashed potatoes were amazing, the hot rolls were so good and of course the salad better then the famous Olive Garden salad!
The place was busy and tables were not being properly cleaned, when we were taking to our table, there was some spilled soda on the seat that i had to point out, they did fix this right away.
this trip was for mothers day with my daughter, wife, and mother. everything was excellent as always. the service was very good despite being packed for the special occasion. i was surprised to find that they have added ranch dressing since our last visit.....they have NEVER had ranch dressing, which always seemed odd to me being a ranch/cowboy themed steak house... was always worth a laugh. the filets were outstanding, tender, and perfectly cooked as always, the fresh baked cheese bread is also very good. their thousand island dressing is somewhat unique in the fact that i usually dont like it, but years ago i was forced to try it due to the NO ranch stance. it is surprisingly good and i am now addicted to it. my mother absolutely loves this place so i bring her here as often as i can afford it. it is a little pricy for my budget but may not be a big deal for yours. i only go here on birthdays and holidays or special occasions like graduation or family visiting from out of state. its just too expensive for me. wendys is more my wallets speed. the pull thru guest drop off is nice in st pete with the nature of our weather here in the bay. i can pull in and drop of my passengers if its raining and no one gets soaked. another item of interest is the long island iced tea. im not a big drinker but i do like to celebrate with friends when the occasion arises. i had a chance to try a long island tea here a few years back for free so even though i have never had one i could finish, i tried it. its amazing to say the least. i dont have a clue what they do differently here, but i always order at least one when we go now whether its for me or the wife. i never get out of there for less than a hundred bucks and with 4 people i have spent 250 before with drinks and appetizers. they have also changed the chocolate cake not for the better. it now only feeds 2 or 3, but i dont like the new flavor as much. all in all, an excellent place to dine if you can afford to eat steak.
I have lived in the St Pete area my whole life and I have been to Texas Cattle Company.....tons of times. It used to be one of my favorite restaurants but has gone down hill drastically! I made a last minute reservation for Mother's Day once I found out that my Mother would be available for dinner. We scheduled for 2pm and the place was not very busy which would explain why the service was poor. We had what seemed to be a new waiter who didn't seem to kno the menu and was flustered most of the time. The meal was not worth the $300 we paid, highly unlikely we will return...instead we will drive to Charley's to be able to enjoy the food we used to frequent.
We have been going to the Texas cattle company for at least 25 years. We always enjoy the food, the service and the uniqueness of the place. over the years the menu keep evolving and gets better each time we go. this is a perfect place to go for those special times to take the love of your life out to show her how much she means to you!
