Texas Cattle Company - St Petersburg, FL Ratings and Reviews
We went with are server's suggestion of ordering the special which was a 26 oz boneless ribeye. We originally ordered it medium rare. I then had second thoughts about the medium rare and consulted with our server Jonathan, and we agreed to change it to medium so that in Jonathan's words "the fat would be more rendered." We are so glad we changed it to medium and it was an excellent steak and great value for sharing at $42. We look forward to returning for a another great steak and we will request to have Jonathan as our server again!
Porterhouse was yummy, it didn't need the crab meat or truffle butter it came with. Showcased wines were both delicious (cab and a malbec). Server, Destiny, is great. I learned that I don't like Grand Marnier dessert cake, I'll just not order that again- but it was fine.
This was our first, and our last time dining at this establishment. I made reservations a week and a half in advance. The restaurant called me to confirm, we discussed me bringing in a cake and that come desert time, the staff would sing as a surprise to my husband. We were seated all the way in the back, in a room that the floor was structurally unsound. The temperature was freezing despite asking staff to adjust it. The food was absolutely horrible once delivered. They kept putting the wrong dish down at the wrong seat, and blamed us for moving seats, which we had not. The steaks were extremely overdone, the lobster was so overcooked, I couldn't even chew it. To which the server's response was,"it's better than undercooked." The broccoli was horrible . They remade my dinner, but didn't comp any of the bill for the inconvenience. Then desert time... No cake, no singing. We had to request our cake to be brought out. During our visit, we heard them singing to other parties. We felt extremely isolated, seated in the back room. The service left alot to be desired. Once ready to pay, I accidentally handed our waiter the check book without my credit card. He asked me, "what are you planning on paying with your looks?" My husband was extremely upset. We will not be back.
Order steak med rare it was served raw sent back...waiting waiting ...steak is cooked to liking now am waiting for my side order of broccoli order another glass of wine...I was done with meal still no wine..Never got to enjoy meal with my guest because the meal was served in stages of waiting And when the check arrived it had a 20% gradtude Not 18% as quoted for Birthday special. REALLY
I guess we didn't understand the open table reservation. What's the point in reserving if the table isn't truly reserve? We waited a long time to be seated when it was scheduled for 7. I feel the front ladies were not helpful. I felt they just looked.at us and then told us what they thought we wanted to hear. The food was good..our waiters.were great. But never saw management to wish me a happy birthday and it wasn't clear on reservation. Next time I definitely will NOT come with a big party.
My wife and I decided to visit Texas Cattle Company on the recommendation of a friend being that he had mentioned they offer a free meal for birthdays. So, I made reservations for my wife's birthday. The birthday meal offered was a small t~bone dinner including a salad and a side. I was required to order a dinner of at least the same price. Everything on the menu was at least $10 more. I ordered a porterhouse steak dinner at $38. For me, this is already overpriced. The experience was poor from that point on. My wife's steak was obviously trimmed where there was no tenderloin left on the steak. We brought it to the attention of the manager and he continued to argue that a tbone didn't include a tenderloin portion when it was obvious that it had been trimmed to use for another meal. He then told us that if we wanted a better cut steak, we need to ask them to look for a center cut? Why should I have to ask for the better cut of meat when I oder my meal... Shouldn't they all be good? Unreal. In the end the sub par meal was $119 for a fried mushroom appetizer, two streaks, salad, bread, and two baked potatoes!! That was including the 18% gratuity they automatic added due to the birthday "deal"! Can you believe that one of these meals was free!! What a joke... Lesson learned. Free never means free. Btw.. My wife just reminded me that we upgraded from broccoli to baked potatoes for $1.50 each... Then the broccoli disappeared! Lol
Disappointed. Service was great . Red Cabernet Sauvignon by the glass , not noteworthy . Bottomless salad bowl was good, but the steak was mediocre. We shared a 28 oz. porterhouse which was cooked rare, which was how we wanted it, but it was served luke warm ( serving it on a heated metal plate would be preferable) , and was full of gristle which was tough to cut through even with a sharp steak knife . Dillon, our server, was very attentive without being overbearing . We were staying on St. Petersburg , for a special occasion and we wanted to have steak. The trip advisor reviews were fairly decent so we wanted to give it a try. And Burns in Tampa was about an hour drive with traffic. Passing through the bar on our way to our table , I could see that there was a very active and lively bar scene . If that’s your preference, it probably is a great place for happy hour , and bar apps.
All in all , if you want a great steak go to Burns or Capitol Grille .
We went for my 40th birthday, so I'm glad some of my steak was covered for bday special, because I ordered the 24oz boneless ribeye special and I think I left about 20oz of fat on the plate. I know ribeye are marbled but this was just complete solid fat chunks. Salad was just iceberg, with some olives and tomatoes, Flavor of steak was good and Service was wonderful, but can't see paying $41 for really just 8 oz of actual meat.
I fell in love with the services. My start time going, and I already told 15 people about this place. The food was to die for and the service their was at it most. You can go all over there world but you will never find fine dinning like this. I would give this place 10 stars if I could. So clean and you never have to wait for anything that you need. If you haven't been I would tell you to get there and fast...

Thank you ,
Mr. and Mrs. Bassant
Steak was improperly prepared and excuses were made by the management when I complained . Another was prepared and I was told the meal would be discounted. When the bill was received, it wasn't discounted so I asked. Finally, it was done. "Mistakes happen and will probably happen again" isn't a good response when a $40 steak comes to the table cooked improperly.
Seating was fast no waiting. Great table. Waiter reviewed menu and answers all my questions regarding which meat was the most tender. Bread and salad was fast and very good. Dinner came at the perfect time and were extremely delicious. Waiter makes sure the meat is exactly how we ordered it by me cutting into the meat. I love the caring of this restaurant to make sure we are satisfied.
This was probably the worst restaurant I've ever been to, the service was very good but the food was absolutely the worst! My son and I each ordered the sirloin which was $17, you would expect that it would at least be edible, but no, it was like something that you would feed your dog, totally gristly to the point that you could not have possibly eaten it, both of them. We sent them back and ordered Filets, hoping by paying extra we would get a decent steak. The next steaks that we had, the Filets, they were almost as bad, very gristly and improperly cooked with no flavor. The check comes and of course the full price for 2 Filets is charged, no offer of a complimentary desert of to at least take one meal off... Terrible customer service and terrible food...
The customer service was not great and for the price food was not great neither. We been there before and it was great at that time. This time just was not a good experience. We have been there a few times and sometimes it is good and sometimes not good. If we were to choose from this place to another we would choice another place. For the price we were just not happy.
We have been loyal customers and ambassadors of Texas Cattle Co. for a long time. Unfortunately that is no longer true. We had a party of 6 and every member of our party had a problem. Two members ordered the filet and when they ordered it the waiter asked if they wanted it butterflied. Both said no and when their steaks arrived both were butterflied and not cooked as they ordered. When they sent them back for the correct order the waiter came back ten minutes later and asked if they could butterfly them so the kitchen could cook them faster. By then they told him to just box them up. Another member ordered a lobster tail to go with his steak. The waiter never bother to heat the butter and the lobster tail itself was cold. Another member who ordered the baked potato got a hard barely cooked potato. Another member discovered that they would not deviate from the menu at all. I ordered the two inch porterhouse and the filet side on my steak was barely a half inch thick. It was so thin it was cooked well done even though the strip side was just medium. When the manager brought out the boxed up steaks it was with a condescending attitude as if we were bothering them by not wanting them butterflied. We are not ones to complain or make a scene so we left it at that. We will protest by no longer giving them our business and I will no longer be recommending them to anyone.
