Texas Cattle Company - St Petersburg, FL Ratings and Reviews
We had a very nice dinner here in January 2018
Our service was excellent.
The appetizers were very, very good. Escargot & Fried Mushrooms.
The Mushrooms were some of the best I've ever had and a HUGE portion.
My steak and sides were delicious and perfectly prepared. Steak was cooked exactly perfectly.
They have a gluten free menu available for those that need it.
Great meal and a good value.
Two negatives to mention:
1) Very limited wine list. Just a few choices but what we did have was good.
2) We had one of the big lobster tails and one of the small ones. Both overcooked. Dry and tough. Not a huge deal but they did not represent the reasons you order lobster.
Next time I can warn them to not overcook or it will be returned.
We were a little disappointed this time for our anniversary dinner. Our steak was very fatty & had to go back to the chef, wasn't cooked to order, then it took a long time to find its way back to the table so in the mean time, all the sides were already eaten. Our waiter although very friendly was absent more then being attentive, especially when we got our coffee, he took off so fast we didn't even have time to mention to him that the coffee wasn't hot. By the time he returned we had drank it anyway, we then asked for another cup. It was an off evening and let down because we've eaten here many times before and everything was fabulous, especially at these prices. What happened??
Always a great time here. Our server was awesome! Food was great! We had the porterhouse for something different. Ordered medium rare, but found out later in the meal parts were over done and parts were under done. Next time we'll go back to the ribeye. Otherwise, everything else was incredible.
My husband and I ordered the long bone tomahawk ribeye for two. Don't do it! It was rubbery and super fatty. And lacked any flavor. The baked potato was the best part of the meal and for 58 dollars that is shameful. My sister got the cowgirl T- bone and let me have some. Her steak was delicious. We told our waitress about our experience but the manager never came by.
Since moving to the surrounding area- we have made thisnour local go-to. For the price, the amount of food is amazing and fresh! By far THE best steak and chicken I’ve ever eaten- and I have eaten in all top 3 steak restaurants in the US- Including all local. You will not be disappointed/ (ask for Susan!)
Texas Cattle company has the best steaks hands down of any place I've been too. They are always cooked the way you want, the price is good for the quality of meat. I love their loaded baked potatoe. I ask for the salad without olives because they give you LOTS of olives! Been going here for a few years now and am never disappointed!
Evening began nice. My husband and I split the tomahawk ribeye which was grilled as expected, however, extremely fatty and a lot of gristle (phenomenal flavor).
We were able to exchange it for a second ribeye, which was absolutely delicious! Management and staff very attentive, we look forward to our next visit.
The food was very good as always and the special recommended by the waiter was right on point. My main concerns were more with atmosphere and handling of our bill - there seemed to be some drama going on with the staff when we arrived and we were somewhat ignored, even though there were three women behind the counter when we entered. They were not terribly busy and we had reservations (which were specified for our anniversary when placed). We were seated in a fairly heavy traffic area of the restaurant which wasn't really conducive to a quiet, romantic meal for the occasion, subsequently we ate our meal and took our dessert to go instead of actually unwinding and enjoying each others company. We used a coupon that was directed at getting us there for our anniversary - offering a free Blue Rose of Texas and Homemade Dessert. We presented the coupon when we ordered and when the check came the credit on the bill did not cover the "FREE" items, not a huge difference, but not in line with the advertising (should have been a $19 credit, was only $15 with no disclaimer on the coupon). These are all rather small items, but, when added up they did detract from the evening. We have a lot of options for great places to eat here in St Petersburg attention to detail is what earns our business. We have been going to Talk of the Town/Texas Cattle Company for 30+ years, so we will certainly give them a chance at redemption.
I ordered the t-bone and it was very fatty, so much so that I hardly had any meat . It was also undercooked. I ordered medium and it was definitely not cooked to medium. On the flip side my son had the ribeye and he said it was very good. My daughter had the sirloin which she said was good but didn't like the "fries". They were too big and over cooked. We also had the calamari which was pretty good. Fried a little too hard but still had a good taste.
Steak was very good and seasoned well and its worth the rice of each entree because they are generous portions and the specials come with sides. The steaks are "aged" but dont seem like prime cut but overall it was filling. Service was not the best since our serve barely came by and said its because they were "busy" but didn't seem so, might have just been a night where they were understaffed. Ambience is lively and loud so not much of a romantic atmosphere I would say but more of a "roadhouse" type of steakhouse.
I was very impressed by this place. Everything was outstanding. I ordered the porterhouse it was fantastic, the salad is delicious, the cheese rolls, everything. I would highly recommend this place. Their cocktails are delicious. I cannot wait to return. Lastly, our service was great. Jonathan made sure we had everything we needed and they have a great kids menu.
This was a horrible day. Waited for 30 min just for drinks. And couldn’t get refills. Bread was burnt asked for more and was given 4 (there was 4 of us) 30 min later. Took forever for salads and apps. Then the plates were set wrong and a 18 oz for a 28 oz. then promised desert waited at least 30 min again with no drinks then offered 1 desert. I was so embarrassed after bragging about your restaurant. I spent over $200 and was forced to tip 18% to the worst dinner ever. Mgr stopped 1 time and never came back
This was our first time visiting this restaurant. It was a special occasion but the prices were extremely too high for our eating out budget. It was not worth the cost and unfortunately we will not be back. Although the service was exceptional we loved the interior of the restaurant and the food was pretty good.
We had another great meal last night. We were seated at our reservation time in the area we requested. Our server, Lindsay, was personable, attentive and helped make our evening fun. As always, the food was wonderful. The Cajun fried mushrooms were prepared perfectly and is our favorite appetizer. My wife’s filet mignon was perfectly prepared as requested, medium rare, and was tender and flavorful. My double pork chops were cooked as requested and were excellent. Their baked potatoes are always great! The restaurant manager always comes by our table to ask if everything is to our liking! We love this place for food and service and go there often.
