About Tewksbury Inn
Oldwick is in the heart of the Hunterdon County horse country, and the Tewksbury Inn is at the center of this 18th-century historic district. The Inn is a former stagecoach stop where the 21st-century traveler can enjoy the traditional friendly tavern atmosphere with fine food that reflects wide ranging influences. In 2008 the Tewksbury Inn began opening on Mondays for the first time and those who join us have been in for a real treat: Our entire wine list at half price. Our exquisite food deserves pairing with an equally great wine and at this value, we think you will agree.

Tewksbury Inn Ratings and Reviews
I can't say enough about the amazing food and service at Tewkesbury Inn. From the moment you walk in you feel welcome and appreciated by the entire staff. Most restaurants rush you through dinner on New Year's Eve. At Tewkesbury Inn we had our table for as long as we wanted to stay. The orecchiette with wild mushrooms was extraordinary and paired beautifully with a glass of Bordeaux. Tewkesbury Inn is fast becoming my weekly "date night" restaurant.
We've been to the Tewksbury Inn a number of times over the years since not far from our house but we had not been there in a while. I have to say, after many years, they still manage to maintain the quality of what they produce. Our meal was excellent. My husband had ribeye and my lobster tail was delicious. It was New Year's Eve, so was busy, but they still sat us right away and service was good. The food is the star and I always enjoy the ambiance of an upscale historic building.
I really want to like this place but cannot go back soon. The restaurant's shortcomings start when you arrive as the bar service takes forever due to having Only one bartender during dinner and you are forced to wait.
Food overall disappointed our party of six as there was only one of us who felt satisfied with their entree selection.
Maybe an off night but definitely still a disappointment.
We dine out often and The Tewksbury Inn remains our favorite, and it never disappoints. The food is always scrumptious and it’s served in a comfortable, upscale tavern atmosphere - bustling yet tasteful. The four of us ordered a variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts and everything was excellent. The Steak Au Poivre is excellent and the Lobster Brioche and Beet Carpaccio are a must.
This was our fifth visit to Tewkesbury Inn and the food just gets better and better. The Bistro Chicken dinner was crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside. A side of wasabi mashed potatoes turned the grilled salmon entrée into a feast. The service here is superior and you always feel welcomed by the host and staff. The bar side is much busier and louder, so I recommend the dining room for a cozy, quiet dinner. Now I cannot wait for my sixth visit!
Dinner as usual was outstanding with superior service. Being upstairs on a Saturday night was lovely. It was early enough that there weren't that many patrons yet; and it was nice and quiet. Our waiter was so friendly and professional yet with a personal touch. We (three of us) started with appetizers- a scrumptious cheesy risotto, calamari which was so crispy and tasty, and really fresh clams on the half shell. Dinners were the salmon, the ribeye (thick, juicy, and tasty), and the classic chicken. I have always believed that I should eat chicken at home but I happened to try the Bistro chicken once and was hooked. It is a very tasty, crispy three piece over mashed and with wilted spinach. Leftovers tasted even better than at dinner! Amazing! Dessert finished off with apple (cobbler)- said to be so very good, excellent rice pudding, and the only thing not worth getting again is the coconut flan. SO, overall a great way for three of us to catch up, dine and wine with more than enough good food and yes, a tasty Argentinean wine. Highly recommend this lovely Inn!
The food was very very good and everyone was happy with their choices, drinks were good as well. We loved our desserts as well and the crème brule was enough for 2. We did have a large group upstairs and that did make it a little noisy but we had fun anyway.
Never disappoints! Food is fantastic, drinks always precisely mixed, service is acceptable. (2 servers are overwhelmed but do an admirable job). Very lively crowd on Saturday nights, do not expect a romantic evening out. Always get the mussels, extraordinary broth. Three of us had the filet mignon, great cut, nothing left behind any of the plates. Arrived 30 minutes early, bar was packed, couldn't find a place to stand let alone sit, hostess was able to seat us right away. Very thankful!! Keep up the great work. My new goto.
excellent food and the servers were lovely but EXTREMELY NOISY, in fact almost impossible to talk across the table. Also, servers were overwhelmed so not really high touch service for what seems to be high touch pricing. The activity of the servers around the table (we were seated near a station) was almost unbearable. Great food so would recommend for that reason but never again on a Saturday night!
Service was ok, nothing special. Waiter could use some personality training. French onion soup came out with burnt, crispy cheese. We asked for it to be changed and were told that this was how they prepared it. We insisted and the next one was much better. Overall the experience was fine but the food and wine was overpriced
My husband and I have had both lunch and dinner at the Tewksbury Inn and enjoyed food very much. Our waiter this past weekend was great and much better than the waitress we had for lunch. We also enjoyed sitting in the room to the left as you walk in the front door. The noise level was much better than sitting in the bar area where we had lunch. Both are nice, but if you want to have a quiet conversation we would recommend the room to the left or possibly upstairs. The food is high quality and the wine and drink menu great as well.
We enjoyed the ambiance and the food was good. Service was slow. I mentioned to the waiter that my skirt steak was tough. The waiter asked me how I ordered it. Medium rare. He said it would have been better if I ordered it medium. Why didn't he tell me that when I ordered?
I have had dinner at The Tewksbury Inn for over 20 years. I have witnessed many changes, although I am not a "regular". I would say hands down this is one of the most consistent, gentile Inn's in NJ. Tonight I enjoyed sesame seared Tuna with Bok Choy and Wasabi Mashed Potatoes. I first had this dish 15 years ago and I enjoyed it tonight as I had then. Hands down best Roast Chicken in Hunterdon County and 1/2 price wine by the bottle on Mondays.
