About Tewksbury Inn

Oldwick is in the heart of the Hunterdon County horse country, and the Tewksbury Inn is at the center of this 18th-century historic district. The Inn is a former stagecoach stop where the 21st-century traveler can enjoy the traditional friendly tavern atmosphere with fine food that reflects wide ranging influences. In 2008 the Tewksbury Inn began opening on Mondays for the first time and those who join us have been in for a real treat: Our entire wine list at half price. Our exquisite food deserves pairing with an equally great wine and at this value, we think you will agree.

The food was very very good and everyone was happy with their choices, drinks were good as well. We loved our desserts as well and the crème brule was enough for 2. We did have a large group upstairs and that did make it a little noisy but we had fun anyway.

The only problem we all had was that the enteees did not have much flavor. We had salmon, duck and steak. This was not up to the usual standard.

Never disappoints! Food is fantastic, drinks always precisely mixed, service is acceptable. (2 servers are overwhelmed but do an admirable job). Very lively crowd on Saturday nights, do not expect a romantic evening out. Always get the mussels, extraordinary broth. Three of us had the filet mignon, great cut, nothing left behind any of the plates. Arrived 30 minutes early, bar was packed, couldn't find a place to stand let alone sit, hostess was able to seat us right away. Very thankful!! Keep up the great work. My new goto.

excellent food and the servers were lovely but EXTREMELY NOISY, in fact almost impossible to talk across the table. Also, servers were overwhelmed so not really high touch service for what seems to be high touch pricing. The activity of the servers around the table (we were seated near a station) was almost unbearable. Great food so would recommend for that reason but never again on a Saturday night!

Service was ok, nothing special. Waiter could use some personality training. French onion soup came out with burnt, crispy cheese. We asked for it to be changed and were told that this was how they prepared it. We insisted and the next one was much better. Overall the experience was fine but the food and wine was overpriced

My husband and I have had both lunch and dinner at the Tewksbury Inn and enjoyed food very much. Our waiter this past weekend was great and much better than the waitress we had for lunch. We also enjoyed sitting in the room to the left as you walk in the front door. The noise level was much better than sitting in the bar area where we had lunch. Both are nice, but if you want to have a quiet conversation we would recommend the room to the left or possibly upstairs. The food is high quality and the wine and drink menu great as well.

We enjoyed the ambiance and the food was good. Service was slow. I mentioned to the waiter that my skirt steak was tough. The waiter asked me how I ordered it. Medium rare. He said it would have been better if I ordered it medium. Why didn't he tell me that when I ordered?

I have had dinner at The Tewksbury Inn for over 20 years. I have witnessed many changes, although I am not a "regular". I would say hands down this is one of the most consistent, gentile Inn's in NJ. Tonight I enjoyed sesame seared Tuna with Bok Choy and Wasabi Mashed Potatoes. I first had this dish 15 years ago and I enjoyed it tonight as I had then. Hands down best Roast Chicken in Hunterdon County and 1/2 price wine by the bottle on Mondays.

Always consistently good food, and isn’t that the mark of a well run kitchen? Menu is diverse and sophisticated and everything tastes very fresh. Bar also well skilled and offer creative cocktails. One of the areas best wine lists albeit loaded with stratospherically priced rarities. Filet au Poivre is a flavorful favorite but anything involving duck or seafood always impresses. Also suggest leaving room for dessert. Our waiter was professional and attentive. Nice evening.

Lovely old inn. The Tavern Room was very crowded and noisy, but separated from the main downstairs and upstairs dining rooms. The service was very good with a friendly and attentive wait staff. The food was good but the portions were small and pricey. The lighting in the upstairs dining room was too bright, I'd suggest lowering the light level to make it more intimate.

Both my husband and I had different steak dishes (Hanger and Skirt) - the sauce was delicious on both, but the meat for both dishes was really tough. Certainly not with the $30-$35 price tag.

Food was that of local pubs - not what you'd expect for dishing out $30+ for an entree. Bread was border line stale and there were no plates to dip the oil in so we took from the adjacent table. No big deal. Service though was terrible. Was hoping to stay for a second cocktail; However, it never made it to the table as the server forgot. If I go back, I'll head to the bar for apps and drinks.

Thank goodness it was a beautiful night so we could eat outside on the lovely patio. Main dining room was closed so the other option was sitting in the bar room. Too noisy, not great atmosphere and one loud homophobic drunk can ruin your night- as was nearly the case except weather cooperated. Good food and service. Pricey.

this had been on our list for quite some time and did not disappoint! Food tasted great and was presented nicely. Service was attentive and knowledgeable to preparation. I ordered hangar steak and my wife had filet mignon. Bothe steaks were tender and full of flavor. Cooked perfectly to our taste. Lobster and calamari for appetizers were also very good. Finally, get the deep fried peach pie. if you like peach pie you will love it. If you aren't, like me, try it you will like it.
