Tew-Mac Tavern - Tewksbury Country Club Ratings and Reviews
I tried the blackened salmon for the first time. It was very good--moist, fresh & tasty. Next time I will try the maple glazed salmon....and I am not a salmon fan!! The chicken pie is tasty. It is made like shepherd's pie with mashed potatoes covering the top. But I think they should broil the top of mashed potatoes slightly to give it some color and crispiness.
We had a table for seven. Everything was ready when we arrived and it was just as I requested. The service was excellent and the food scrumptious and plentiful. The only downside is that it was noisy. We dined at 6:30 the Saturday after Thanksgiving and the restaurant was full and the piano was playing. The room is also on the smaller side so perhaps this was the reason it was a bit too loud. We would return however.
We made reservations and had a nice table by the window ( a bit drafty) but after two glasses of red wine it was fine. Food was good. Our waiter was a young man who was very good waiter and had a great personality. We had been there before for lunch and dinners, but never on a Saturday night. It was a bit loud in the restaurant when we arrived, there were a lot of people having dinner, but then it quieted down as it got later.
All in all it was very pleasant and we will be sure to go again.
We go there a few times a month at least and have never had a bad meal or experience there. The food is fantastic, the service is excellent and the servers are so personable there. We enjoy it every time we go and have brought in friends that have never been there before and they have always been very impressed!
Excellent service, menu, and ambiance with view! On Friday nights we like TewMac for both the food and the plus factor of some really good live music from 7pm to 10pm (usually one or two singers, the grand piano, acoustic guitar) which compliments; but, does not overpower conversations. Another plus- there are quite a few flat screens so we don't have to rush ourselves home to watch the Bruins or Red Sox....and plenty of free in lot parking.
The menu is well priced - most entree's are under $20. The sirloin charbroiled steak tips dinner and cooked to order @$19. were perfect choice for my companions; and this time I tried the Maple Glazed Salmon dinner ( I am not a big salmon fan; but, I do love fish and theirs is advertised to be fresh daily and the menu description was intriguing) Topped with warm apple slices, julienned purple cabbage, and crumbled bacon- the maple glazed salmon was served along side mashed sweet potatoes. It was beautifully presented and because of this unusually delicious combination of flavors I loved this piece of salmon- I can't wait to go back and order it again! And it was only $18.
One of the things I like best after dinner is to be able to relax. Here, if we get lucky, we can enjoy last beverages or coffees away from the table. At TewMac there is a nice big coffee table, with a comfortable deep seated leather couch and a couple of leather chairs, right in front of the fireplace and next to the grand piano - and that we were lucky enough to enjoy it last week :)
They also are open to serve out on patio until it gets too cold.
By the way.. On Friday nights...this place is always full between 6pm and 9pm. We learned it is best to make reservations through "OpenTable"
My wife and I enjoyed our anniversary dinner there, and had a wonderful time. First, our food was excellent. My wife had the pork chop and risotto which she loved. I had the lobster Tew-Mac and cheese. Probably the best lobster Mac & cheese I've ever had. The lobster was fresh, with numerous whole claws and also tail and knuckle meat. The portion was so large that I had enough to take home for dinner the next day.
Our server Lauren was friendly and attentive. The Manager Judy came over many times to check on us, and even treated us to a free slice of pumpkin cheesecake, which was phenomenal.
The ambience at the Tew-Mac Tavern is comforting and cozy, with a casual vibe.
Patio looks like a good place to eat. We will try next year.
The food variety gave us plenty of choices and the special was seasonal. I had the weiner schnitzel and my wife had the lobster mac and cheese. Both were well prepared and good choices. We enjoy the piano background music.
We were a family group of nine. Service was super. We even got a phone call at home prior to our dinner to find out if we had any special requests such as a high chair etc. Our waiter was very attentive throughout our entire meal. Food was very good. Everyone was happy with their choices. Nice place. Will definitely go again and have dinner outside next time if the weather permits.
Tremendous view of a fountain, flowers, and the golf course. Food and service were both great. The Turkey Tips came with a great bar-b-que sauce. The vegetable medley was perfectly cooked. The mashed potatoes had perfect consistency with a slight buttery finish. Shipyard Pumpkin Ale with a cinnamon sugar rim was the perfect way to complement a great meal.
When we made the reservation we didn't realize this was the restaurant for a golf course. When we opened the menu it didn't look like a golf course restaurant menu. We sat inside, but the outdoor patio looked very inviting. After taking our drink & appetizer orders, the waiter brought warm rolls and roasted garlic with a plate of seasoned olive oil for dipping. We started with an order of fried calamari & an onion soup. Both were very good. The calamari was fried and served with sauteed cherry peppers. It was tender and the breading was light and crispy. Soup was rich and beefy with a thick layer of melted cheese. For entrees we had the sirloin tips and roast chicken with risotto. Both dishes were well prepared. Chicken was moist and tender. Risotto was creamy. Steak tips came cooked as ordered (medium rare) and had a nice tang from the marinade. There was no room for dessert.
The waitress kept bugging us to order. We ordered and when they brought the food they dropped the plate on the floor and one person in our party had to wait for her food and it did not come until the the rest of us were done eating. The manager and waitress never asked her if she would like something in the meantime or drink. They should have taken all the plates back and served it all together. When we were done we were never asked if we wanted dessert of coffee the waitress just put the bill on our table. She kept interrupting our conversation to asked if she could take the bill. It was a very very unpleasant experience.
This was my second time dining at the tavern and both times I had the blackened salmon and it was absolutely delicious. I requested a table near the window so we could enjoy the view and our table was perfect. Danielle was our waitress and she was great. We had fun chatting it up with her.
Small space that is very pretty and cozy with a beautiful stone fireplace. Although it is small, the dining area seats a large amount of people. The service was outstanding! Our waitress was very attentive and always had a smile, not matter how often she was asked something. The food was absolutely delicious! The whole family truly enjoyed the Father's Day dinner out!
The outside patio has a view of the golf course and fountains. As the sun sets, there are lights on the course so the view does not end. Only concern last week was mosquitos and for the 3 time dining there, they don't give me my OT points, I have to email the site to get them added on so if you go, watch and be sure you get your points for the visit.
Originally picked this location because of the outdoor seating but had to be relocated in doors. When I asked the staff, I was told it was permitted to smoke out on the patio. This should have a separate section, not at tables while everyone else can smell and taste it.
Have eaten here before and had a great experience but this last visit was a disappointment. Service was very poor, had to ask for things 3-4 times and still didn't get what was requested. 2 of us had the haddock, should have had a delicious sauce on it- it was missing. Asked for it multiple times and in the end have up. Ordered drinks that we finally cancelled because we were about done, would hesitate to return.
We enjoyed the food and the atmosphere at this restaurant very much but the waiter we were dealing with kept us waiting. We had to ask a waitress to find out waiter for us. We saw him watching tv at the bar rather than tending to his customers. I had the blackened salmon dish, my sister had the fish and chips and our husbands ordered the roast turkey dinner and each meal was cooked to perfection. We will definitely give the restaurant another try because one bad apple doesn't spoil the bunch.
