Great authentic German food, with 'home-cooked' taste, and large selection of beers. The live band on Saturday night was a bonus, felt like a real German 'Wirtschaft'.

We love good German food and we feel fortunate to have found Teske's. Their Schwein Haxe with potato salad and sauerkraut was absolutely delicious!

Possibly the best meal I've ever had. We ordered some of the specials, including veal shank that was HUGE. The meat fell off the bone and melted in your mouth We also ordered a wild boar goulash that was slightly spicy and very flavorful. The kids enjoyed their dishes, which were sausage and pork medallions. The meals come with soup, salad and a slice of strudel for dessert. We could hardly walk afterward. The beer and schnapps selection is good and they have a decent selection of wine. All in all it was a wonderful dining experience for the whole family. The food is very authentic and I will be returning.

Teske's Germania is a good German restaurant. This was not our first visit, since they have been around for many years. Their four-course dinner is an excellent value. Some of the dishes need better seasoning; i.e., the potato pancakes and the spatzel. However, with large portions and very good service, it's a restaurant that's worth returning to if you are in the mood for good German food.

The cuisine is different, yet similar, from what a typical American normally eats. It was a fun experience.

Was our first time in, heard OK reviews about the place. We actually had a really good time. Server was knowledgeable about food and beer. First time trying the German cuisine and i loved it as well as our company. Next time we will have to enjoy from the bar. Definitely recommend his restaurant to others.

I had heard of Teske's years ago, but had never visited. This was my loss!
Our visit was a group lunch of 22. The service was good for such a large group with people arriving late. The staff was very friendly and accommodating.
No complaints with the food. Everyone loved their dishes.

I will definitely be back with the family.

Don't forget the German beer!

We were there for Valentines' Day .
They had a special menu with higher prices , and they crammed as many patrons as they
could into the place.....not very comfortable , nor romantic.
The place is located in a part of San Jose that's been totally screwed up by the people
who put in the trolley and revamped 1st Street and surroundings....we were lucky to find
parking , but trying to find the place was no fun. There are better places to eat than in San Jose .....never again !

We have been to Teske's several times and always had great food and service. The menu is broader than many other German restaurants in the area. I especially like the rouladen which is not often seen on local menus. We plan to return in September for Oktoberfest.

Good beer selection and an impressive schnapps menu. The appetizers were all very good, but the entrees were not good at all. My boyfriend had the buffalo goulash and it was inconsistently cooked. Some pieces were perfect and other ones were very overdone. Other members of our party had similar issues.

We were disappointed as Teske's had come very highly recommended by lots of our friends. The waiter mentioned several times that they had changed the way they were making a few dishes so we suspect that maybe the chef changed? If so, it's not for the better.

Nine of us went there for my son's birthday including a 2 yr old & 2 pre-teens. The food was very good, although one dish had to be replaced. The replacement dish came right away and was delicious.
Since German food is filling, and our dinners came with salad, soup & dessert, we were all quite satisfied by the time we left.
I would recommend Teske's to anyone, especially if you like beer, sausage, and home-made German noodles!

Food was on the bland side, but beer was great. Very good service, maybe tooooo attentive with server asking couple minutes after each course how it is when we didn't even have a chance to taste it yet.

From the point we walked in it seemed that everyone who works there was in a bad mood. The food was great but it took almost twenty min to get the appetizer. I was in a groups so the price wasn't too bad. The beer selection was good and the food was great.

This is a very authentic German restaurant. The food was outstanding and also very authentic. Each meal consists of soup, salad, entree a d dessert - you will not go away hungry. We will definitely go back. Looking forward to warmer weather when we can sit outside in their "bier garten".

I have been dining at Teskes for 30 years. What a great place to bring friends and family. I have'nt ever had a bad meal. Kassler or Rheinroulade are fantastic meals. The only complaint is that Teskes used to have a chocolate-raspberry cake, not the tort, that was to die for! I will continue to be a loyal patron.

Excellent German food and Spectacular Beer and schnaaps just a 1 minute walk from Light Rail or 2 minute walk from East Santa Clara. The bar is always lively, and the restaurant is quiet even when crowded. All meals come with soup, salad and dessert, so the prices are actually VERY resonable overall. The Heffeweisen is spectavular, and the schapps list is extensive - from fruity-sweet ro pure fire water in a wide range of flavors. Nice German wine list by the bottle or glass. Enjoy a liter of beer and a couple of drinks and take a cab home!

Highly recommend Teske's Germania for its authentic German food, great beer & wine selection, as well as the service (prices are also quite reasonable). Live entertainment is available and the restaurant location is in the San Jose downtown area, making it convenient for other local venues (for example, events at the HP Pavillion).

Somewhere in the chain my order was messed up again. This has occurred about every visit here, normally not a big deal to me but can really put some people out. Staff is always very accommodating and apologetic so it doesn't bother me over much. But this is my 5th visit and it's happened 4 times to someone at my table. Again, if they by me a beer I'm good with getting the wrong app or missing out on soup and salad. The veal tends to be over done, a shame since it's my favorite Bavarian dish. Same with the Schweinebraten. The prime rib,Schweinshaxe, and Bratwurst have treated me well. Friends have mentioned the gulasch but I can't speak to that. Over all if it's on the lunch menu I'd feel good about it.

We always have a good meal at Teskes. And this time too. I had a gluehwein, what was delicious. Too bad they have only the big beer glasses 0.5 and 1 liter. I would love to have a small 0.25 or 0.4 liter beer, but more is too much for me. (They had it before)
$25 for a meal with salat and soup , entree and desert is not a bad price. It is really german cooking. We love the plaace and know we will come back for many more years.

We usually go on a Saturday night but no reservations were available so we went on Wednesday. Saturday night is always lively which we do enjoy. Our Wednesday visit was quiet which was OK as it allowed all of us to talk and hear the others. Food and service, as always, was great. In the future, we will try to make our reservations a month in advance rather than a week in advance in the hopes of getting a Saturday night reservation. We have eaten at Teske's Germania over ten times, mostly around the holidays.

We had the New York steak and Buffalo steak. Both were very grisly and tough, too many peppercorns. Let the Cognac seep into the steak, the peppercorns over powered it. Overall, we loved everything else and will be back again.
