Teske's Germania Restaurant
Great food. Great service.
The wait staff was good, and considerate. However, for someone that has traveled to all parts of Germany, the food left a little to be desired. The sauerbraten here is served with a cream based gravy. In most restaurants in Germany, the gravy is a dark gravy. The sausages were either stringy or excessively spicy. The apple strudel was a disappointment compared to true German apple strudel.
Overall, we were under-impressed.
Out-of-town folks staying at a local park n fly hotel have dined here 3 times and absolutely love the food.
Just going to keep this short because there's so many good reviews on this place. That was the main reason we tried it and we were not disappointed!
Great friendly service. Pork and veal schnieitzel was overcooked and tough.
The German food was excellent. We found out the the owners' father immigrated from Germany to the US via Canada. The staff was excellent. It is a very nice family run restaurant.
Excellent comfort food and a lot of it. Service is cheerful and efficient. Good value - four courses for reasonable bucks - Less than $30. Good beer but surprising lack of variety - in the dining room at least. Good for a date only if you want to have hearty food in a fun atmosphere. Not particularly romantic.
Have gone to Teske's periodically for a few decades. Has always been good and remains so. Seems more busy too, never used to get a reservation but seems like a good idea now.
We really enjoyed our meal and the service was great! I hadn't been there for a long time. I'll not wait so long the next time!
Food was delicious! We ordered 2 of the specials! Duck with ginger sauce. And grilled pork medallions. Both were the perfect amount of food. Dinners come with lentil soup, a salad, the main meal and apple strudel for dessert!
We had to take much of our meal to go as we had a ballet to attend.
Had delicious food to eat the next day!
Looking forward to returning!
The service was very perfect. The lady who took care of us was kind and smiling. The food is authentic German.
Very nice experience, warm friendly staff and very good food. The beer was pretty good too!
Amazing, authentic German food. A family favorite. The sharing plates are pretty substantial; the entrees are generously portioned.
We really enjoyed the German food and especially the beer selection. It was kind of quiet so we were very well served and it was a great experience. I will definitely be back.
Nice, cozy restaurant with a very pleasant staff, nice menu and a full meal offering (starting with soup, salad, main course, and dessert), and a great selection of German beer. Reservations are highly recommended as it is a popular dining place.
Tasty German cuisine in a cozy setting for a reasonable price that includes soup, salad, entree and dessert!! Many beer choices and a nice selection of wine and cocktails. Great experience worth repeating!!
Teske's did not disappoint. The food, service, and environment were all outstanding. We will visit this establishment often and recommend it to others. Cheers to the owners/operators, Cindy, Greg, and Scott!
I've dined at Teske's for years. The food has always been very good. This most time I ordered something I hadn't had before. It wasn't quite as delicious as I imagined it would be, but it was good nonetheless. The meals of my two companions were very good. The service, soup, salad, and dessert accompanying the main course were excellent.
Great German cuisine. Very comfortable dining and a great bar. Service is good and everyone was very friendly. I’ll be going back again
Authentic German cuisine and ambience in downtown SJ! 💖💖💖
The best place in San Jose to celebrate Oktoberfest!
The food was great. We have dined there many times and always enjoyed it. Our server, Gabi was right on it. The drinks were served very quickly and she went over the specials with us. Excellent experience.
Teskie's is always a great place for dinner. Authentic home made German food. Hearty portions, various menu options with high quality ingredients ( you will not go home hungry) large bar with a great variety of beers and alcohol. Indoor and outdoor seating in a friendly atmosphere. Octoberfest is great but crowded so reserve quickly.
Great Polka Band- Great Beer- Great food- especially the Crab Dip!!!
Staff was very busy so the food took a while- but we were having so much fun!
From the decor to the food this German restaurant is great.
It's been 25 years since my last visit. I was an annual visitor many years ago during a SanJose convention every spring. The place hasn't changed...and that's a great thing. As before, waaay too much food. Our server was so kind and attentive - even with the wild Sharks fans and an ongoing Oktoberfest party outside. I'm looking forward to my return.
The food was good but it was pricey for what you got.
Celebrating my 78th birthday with family. We were seated promptly, and our table was close enough to the patio to hear the live music, but not so close that we couldn't have our conversations (party of 8). Good service, but not overbearing. thanks! cjq
I attended the Oktoberfest on 10/19. The musical group "Internationals" make me feel like I'm in Munich.
I absolutely love it. Thank you
Teske’s has awesome food, and fantastic Oktoberfest parties.
Great environment and authentic German food
Absolutely awesome. Been going to bar and restaurant for years and finally had the presence of mind to book a table for a large party for Oktoberfest. Our waitress was efficient and friendly. I love the overall staff in general. Will be coming back for years to come!
Really enjoyed Teske's Germania! The restaurant itself was really cool, pleasant staff, tasty beer and food. A must try if you are in Downtown San Jose. We will be back!
Been going to Teska's for over 20 years. Great value (dinner's include soup, salad AND dessert)! Wash down the excellent food with a good beer (or two). Friendly service and the best German food around (big portions too).
Great food and service. We have been going there for years and it' still just as good as the first time
My husband and I visited Teske's Germania Restaurant with another couple and had a great meal. We were seated in their beer garden and got a table close to a heating lamp which made the table very cozy. We each ordered a 1/2 liter of beer and an entree. The entrees come with soup, salad and apple strudel for dessert. My husband ordered the breaded pork cutlet. I ordered the veal in cream sauce and our friends ordered the venison special and the beef curry special. All of our entrees were delicious and the service was fantastic. They have live music almost every Friday evening with an authentic German band. We will definitely be back.
We went for the first night of Oktoberfest, and while the prices were racked up a bit, the food was still great. We would have loved to have been out on the Patio for the live music, but seating is VERY limited out there. Fortunately, we could hear the music from our table- which was a good thing in my opinion!
The food alone would invite you to try Teske's but combine the cuisine with German music - singing and dancing - well, you will have quite a vunderbar time!
Authentic well prepared, delicious German food. Service was a little slow and split charge was unrealistic but would go back for the quaint old-world ambience and good food.
Great food, refreshingly different bar booze options. Service painfully slow. Nice back patio outside.
