Terroni YONGE (at Price St.) Ratings and Reviews
Upstairs was awful.
TOO NOISY, too crowded, waiters would NOT accommodate any requests like having BUTTER as well as oil for our bread. The drink list was too limited and would not make any concessions for cocktails etc.
I love the food DOWNSTAIRS and the ambience is SO MUCH NICER.
I was told NEVER go upstairs to eat, now I know why. Just awful.
Couldn't even hear one another talk.
Fantastic food and a great atmosphere. Highly recommended if you like Italian food, they even had a vegan option for pizza. Not the best place to bring older people who are set in their ways but we outnumbered them this time. It was a pleasant experience and I highly recommend it!
Had reservations for 5 for a birthday party. Arrived to find an older couple at the front desk and assumed they were waiting to be seated so waited behind them. After several minutes of waiting to be acknowledged by the two front hostesses I bypassed the couple and realized they were filing some sort of written complaint (a bad sign right from the gates). When I finally got the attention of the hostesses (who were simply busy talking to each other), one just looked at me and said "yes?"as in "what do you want?"
What do you think, I came to this restaurant with a party of five to ask for directions to the nearest gas station?!
After explaining I had a reservation she basically just pointed us in the direction of our table. No greeting, no welcome, no hello.
Our server was fine. Not particulalrly friendly, not rude. Just, fine. We ordered some appetizers, drinks, mains and desserts. My husband and I ordered the Friday special: a lobster spaghetti. The pasta was cooked perfectly but the sauce was nothing special (just tasted like canned tomato sauce) and the lobster was overcooked and mushy. The tiramisu was runny and weird. Almost as if the mascarpone had been watered down with cream. I used to really love Terroni's but this is my second lacklustre meal and experience there and I won't be returning.
Disappointing customer service. I called a day before my reservation asking for my resevationfor three people be changed to four people. They said they were overbooked for that day and it was highly unlikely they could accommodate me. After being put on hold for a while, they said they could do it but that they emphasized again that they were overbooked but they were doing me a big favour. I noted to them that a table reserved for three is usually a table set four people. They said that they had tables that only accommodate three.
At the restaurant I ddn’t see one table that would only seat three people. Hmmm...Many other restaurants available that won’t be so difficult.....
Can we not clear the table before everyone is done please? Can we not ask how the food is when I am chewing my first bite? Also half the table was cleared before the last 2 guests were done and while they were still eating dessert menus arrived to those who had finished. Ordered my favourites but find quality of food has decreased Used to love you but may have to leave you. (And you won’t care)
Waiter did not provide quality service as he left us as his lowest priority. He was very attentive to the two business gentlemen next to us. Just because we are a young couple please do not assume you will not receive a superior tip. Your tip is based on your service!
We have visited other Terroni locations in Toronto however this was our first experience at the Yonge location. We were celebrating my birthday and with a large group of 12 we were pleasantly surprised by the large table that was in a more private section of the restaurant. I could tell that they made an effort to make our experience more private and special. Our waiter Alex was quite knowledgeable of the menu and the features that aren't on the menu. He made wine suggestions to pair and gave us some insight into the chef as well. He made the experience. Thank you Alex.
The salad we received had THREE lettuce leaves in the bowl. For the prices Terroni charges, the salad should at least cover the size of the entire plate. When my party had mentioned our concern to the waiter, he sent over the manager to speak to us. The manager was unprofessional and RUDE. He argued that those are the portions of the restaurant and did absolutely NOTHING to try to correct the situation. He spoke aggressively and was all around NASTY. THIS MANAGER SHOULD BE FIRED.
We were 'parked' in a room with boxes, cut off from the rest of the restaurant. Service was unattentive and it looked like we were not welcome. We were basically neglected. As an Italian, I can say that there are many other places that offer better pizza, even at a better price. Will not go back. I personally did not like the mozzarella and the dough.
Food wise, this place does not disappoint too terribly. Our favorite pizza is the Capricciosa. Any time we stray and order some other pizza, it is never as good. The pasta is good but our daughter who is 10, likes the noodle part the best and there never seems to be enough noodle but plenty of residual meat sauce and/or truffles in this case this past Sunday night. We were a party of 4 adults and 1 child. The bill was nearly $300. And what was most disappointing was the fact that when ordering coffee and espresso, there were no coffee spoons accompanying the cups of coffee and espresso. That is a HUGE sign for us -- a litmus test for a fine restaurant. For a $300 tab, that should not be an issue. And the coffee and espresso came out cold. No bueno. The osso bucco was good but very salty. I wish Terroni and restaurants in general did not use so much salt. It is definitely an eating out issue. Good location, parking is fine, the place is packed always and when asked to turn down the music, they did so without any hesitation. I just don't think this place is very good value for the $$$.
