Terroni - Queen Ratings and Reviews
We had 2 pizzas and shared a tiramisu. The pizzas were amazing! I had the Stefano and my date had a spicy sausage pizza.
However, the tiramisu was a bit disappointing considering it IS an Italian restaurant. They serve them in these mini 1/2 jars (so small) for $10! So it didn't have all the layers you would get from a traditional slice. Disappointing...
This location is very crammed and not the most romantic atmosphere. The Rosedale location is wayyyy better!
The food was great as always, the atmosphere in the restaurant is lovely. The staff overall is very welcoming and they're happy to help customers to understand the food and drinks menu . Unfortunately, I had a situation where I asked some cheese for the salad I ordered and the answer was: "We don't put Parmesan Cheese on salads, it's only for Pasta dishes"; honestly if I had been explained/advised that Parmesan Cheese in the type of salad I order wouldn't go well, I would've understood; but not putting Cheese in a dish that is not pasta is NOT a customer-friendly reason. At the end of the day if customers puts cheese on their salads, it's their choice!
There's a reason why they say 'The customer is always right'..
I brought my grandparents here and was very unhappy with the overall experience. Our server was snooty and not helpful. The menu was very confusing and the food was meh overall. We were charged incorrectly for the wine and when asked for butter our server said they don't have any.
We are new to Toronto and have fallen in love with this great restaurant! Excellent food each time we've come, good service, friendly staff! The ambience is wonderful! I hear there are other locations, but I love the intimate, cozy feel of this one. Looking forward to bringing our out of town guests.
have been there several times and love the food but am finding the tables are way too close and loud loud loud. I don't want to hear the entire conversation next to me. This last time the food was not as good as I remember but maybe I ordered the wrong thing.
Food is always excellent.
Service was impressively inatentive. I don't know it is OK to have staff deliver appetizers and mains without the waiter once coming back to the table to ask if everything is ok or if we need anything (pepper, parmasean...). Oh, well so much for the extra glass or two of wine that we would have liked WITH our meal.
I was seated 40 minutes after my reservation time even though the party occupying the table had already paid their bill. Restaurant had no policy or alleged recourse to remove the party. I don't understand what the point of a reservation is, if I have to wait literally 40 minutes to be seated after my arrival. This was my birthday celebration and dampened my experience from the moment I walked in.
Also, even though it was single digit weather outside, the air conditioning was blasting. Everyone in my party was cold and our food got cold within minutes due to the excessive AC.
I've loved Terroni in the past. Unfortunately, I don't know if I'll be returning. They put our party of four in the corner by the front window ... under a blaringly loud speaker. We asked them to turn it down, but instead they moved us to a booth by the front door. The food, it must be said, was very good -- which it always is -- but the service was subpar. We ordered a lot of first courses, which they brought all at once. There was no room on the table at all. As we finished dishes we piled up plates and I had to flag down the hostess to get somebody to come by to clear them. The same was true later in the meal and again when we needed more water. Granted, it was Saturday night and very busy, but we were essentially forgotten and had to use the hostess as the conduit to our server any time we needed anything.
You're better than this, Terroni!
We booked a table for my boyfriend's birthday. The wine bottles are ridiculously expensive for what they are, above the average bottle price in any decent restaurant. Special Week's fish option, a dish with one fillet was basically a ton of salad with just a bit of fish (for $22). They realized the size of fish was noticeably small and they offered a half price for the dish. The pizza we ordered was average. Grilled octopus appetizer was good but both that and the fish were charred too much to the point of leaving a burnt bitter taste in the mouth.
For the price, the uncomfortable chairs and small table, the infrequent visits of host (we had to pour our own wine) and the quality of food, I would definitely not recommend this branch to anyone. Sorry!
I would recommend Terroni because I have been there several times and never had a bad meal. Because people I have taken there have been back on their own and recommended it to others. Because the food is wonderful and the staff has never been anything but charming and helpful.
We were given the option of dining on the outdoor patio and it was fabulous. Not noisy and tables weren't jammed together like the Yonge St location. Service was excellent. Food was pretty good. Appys and mains didn't all get to the table at the same time so that was a bit ackward. Caprese salad was good but quite small; salad with strawberries was fabulous and special salad was pretty good but pretty steep price for an appy. Mains were good. Special pasta (gnocchi) was ok but not great; gnocchi was a bit mushy and seemed obvious it was cooked earlier and reheated. Sauce on special pasta was not very tasty. Desserts were quite good. Overall very expensive for good food. Atmosphere at queen street location much nicer, quieter and less hurried than Yonge street.
The hosting staff was very accommodating for one of our guests, who had a wheelchair we needed to stow away. I let them know ahead of time when I made the reservation and they were on top of it when we arrived. We were seated on the back patio, which is absolutely lovely. There are lots of plants, good lighting, and comfortable seating. I would say the menu is somewhat expensive for what you get, and our waiter was not great. He was nice, but he made several mistakes that kept one of our party waiting for food for about ten minutes after everyone else was served. I also noted a special occasion on the reservation - a birthday celebration - which wasn't followed up on at all. Overall, I think it's a great restaurant and we likely would have had a great time if we had a different waiter.
The staff and food were both exceptional. In particular, we found the store manager went out of her way to ensure our meal was top notch. Would highly recommend for both service and food (in particular on a Tuesday, when they have the amatriciana pasta special.
I was utterly appalled at the abysmal quality of the service. The staff were rude and abrasive with a poor attitude.
In addition, the niggardly meal portions were unsatisfactory.
It is safe to say that I shall never go back to Terroni's or recommend it to anyone.
