Terroirs is split between two levels. The street-level restaurant has some outdoor seating and a large bar that can seat up to 14 people, with a great view of the open kitchen.
The Cellar downstairs has very high ceilings and original brick walls, with an additional kitchen and bar area which hosts our regular wine tastings, visiting winemaker dinners, magnum parties and cellar cinema screenings.
This unique space is also available for private hire.
Great little restaurant , really good intersting food, well worth a visit
The artichoke dish is divine! Lovely small plates to order, wasn't too sure about the house white wine but that could have been a personal taste thing! Quick and attentative bite to eat prior to a Happiness lecture - hapiness came before the talk here!
Delicious food- great smoked eel starter and the fish perfectly cooked. Very friendly service, good awareness of gluten free requirements.
Lovely place - lovely food and service. Limited choice but really good ingredients used well in a few dishes very welcome!
Only experienced lunchtimes so far but love the place.
We went to the Terroirs before the Opera at the Coliseum. Unfortunately the kitchen opened only at 5:30 but the Opera started at 6:30, we decided to go for some bread and a selection of Charcuterie and Cheese. The quality of the cheeses and the charcuterie was extremely good. We needed to ask about another basket of bread, rather than that it would be brought automatically. Likewise, Butter was only brought when we asked for it. That is the reason for a deduction in the quality of service. But the glass of wine I had was very good (Grüner Veltliner), right temperature and quite unusual. Thus I was quite satisfied with the quality of the food and drinks. The bill came out quite significant for the amount of food that was served. However, the quality was extremely convincing (my favorite was the Pork & Pistachio Terrine and the Cantal Entre Deux). Go and try it out.
A lovely bistro that transports you to Paris! Wonderful home cooked food and a great wine list!
Great place for sharing food; waiters were all friendly, nice and helpful, but also very busy! The standard of the food was great, especially the Jerusalem artichokes which were amazing. It is loud and echoey when busy, so if you struggle with hearing you may need to avoid a Friday night!
Good food and at a reasonable price, wines very good but on the expensive side, only negative was the noise, very difficult to have a conversation without feeling you had to shout.
Fantastic as always. A great place to spend time in Covent Garden
Absolutely marvellous wines and food. Lovely people too.
Very solid bistro food. The night I was there the kitchen had a bad night and were unable to cook my ordered main course due to some mishap. The waiter and owner very graciously gave me a complementary glass of wine and a complimentary appetizer to substitute for the missing main course. Both the Jerusalem artichokes and the tomato salad were well done and well seasoned. I would return to see what they can do with the main course
Good food and wine list. Quick service so ideal for pre-theatre.
I'm sure I'm not the first reviewer to say 'Terroirs is terrific!' I really like the quality of the food and of course the wine. Interesting, unusual, and nicely judged in terms of a modest but extremely tasty and unusual set lunch which I've had on a few occasions. This place is very different from the various large-chain French bistros (many of which are also excellent in their own way). A lot more character both in cooking and atmosphere.
Slightly confusing menu, small plates are not starters but rather something in between a main course and a starter, having got one each I was pretty stuffed when the main came, however it was so good I muddled through. Waiting staff could perhaps explain this a bit more. Anyway now we know this wouldn't hesitate in returning, food was authentic, fresh perfectly cooked and delicious, as was wine.
Really excellent recommendations from the staff, great service and great food
Slightly disappointed by the food, which is a shame as have always enjoyed previously. Small plates are very small, the potato dish which cost £9.50 consisted of approx. 3 small new potatoes sliced with a dressing and a bit of rocket... not great value, and with 3 small plates between us there was not enough to fill me up so ordered cheese as well, which again was expensive for a piece of cheese and some bread. Total bill £50 for 2 but not good value for money sadly.
Delicious meal with great service.
Frat natural wines on draft and tasty food ( charcuterie board and quail with polenta) in a vibrant atmosphere.
I go there often and it never disappoints
As always, Terroirs exceeds expectations, and is perfect for relaxed, casual lunches with friend, where one can linger and enjoy. Service is great - happy to take back a bottle of unliked wine with no hassle and always cheerful. And I love it that they always have eel on the menu!
It was a Friday night so the place was pretty busy. Food was ok and the wine nice, but a little on the pricy side for what it was. Service was poor though which was frustrating - they forgot to bring our wine (had to ask 3 times), we were given a ridiculously small portion of bread and butter despite it costing £4 (at least they gave more when we asked), and then we had to wait a fair while to pay because they only had the one card machine.
Very nice food and wines. The staff is lovely.
Only one suggestion: When you serve wine by glass in my opinion it's appreciated if you show the bottle while pouring the wine.
Fantastic food and service but £12 for a gin and tonic means my rating for value is severely reduced, absolutely no justification for such a price.
Terroirs is still good after all these years. Very excited that our favourite dishes were all vegetarian (or mostly).
Requested table upstairs , got one downstairs
Service very poor , at 9pm they were out of one of
Their limited main courses
Historically this is one of my favourite restaurants of its
Type , the food is still v good , but the menu a bit difficult
They need to review their service levels , not a fun evening
We work late in the theatre so only get there around 10 , still very welcoming and food served and no pressure to leave Great fresh wines
Impressive truffle salami as starter. Black pudding very balanced. Choice of wines confirms attention to details and passion for gastronomy. Very relaxed atmosphere.
Good offer on the lunch plate with wine, but unfortunately this came a long while after my own selection. The waiter was very apologetic and gave us more bread and butter but it did make the meal lengthier than intended.
Would happily recommend and go again if in that part of London.
Great food and excellent choice of wine. Atmosphere is buzzy and service is friendly.
The staff and service was amazing and great location. Food not as good as we were hoping and found the dishes to be more of individual layers and flavours rather than a combined marriage of flavours. The menus could be a bit clearer or include translations of the ingredients in the dishes (as having ordered the raw veal we weren't expecting it to have fish interspersed in it and overpowered the veal). Also expensive for the quantity of food per portion and ordered two bottles of different wines both of which were brought to table at room temperature (with an ice bucket) so we had to wait for them to cool down and put ice into the first glass. Not ideal.
We still enjoyed it but not as much as we were hoping to as it was a special occasion for us.
Great food and good, friendly service. A little on the expensive side but I would come again.
Really tasty innovative dishes. Not bad portion sizes. Friendly service. Great wine list. It is the delicious food that keeps me coming back though.
Love the place. Fantastic wine menu, but only the house list is affordable. As ever, such friendly & helpful waiting staff, though service wasn't as perfect as it has been, in that we were left waiting for some dishes. But didn't detract from overall quality. Would appreciate some ceiling hangings or similar to cut down the very reverbersnt acoustics. I'm sure the ears if staff would appreciate it too...
I have been to Terroirs several times and it never disappoints. Food was delicious and service impeccable.
We visited at lunch time. Friendly and helpful service, cosy atmosphere. The bread and mushrooms were delicious, the lunch plate very tasty.
Excellent evening, nice service and good food and wine
Fabulous small plates for lunch and an excellent white Chenin Blanc. Think French tapas with a superb wine list.
Terroirs celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, and rightfully so. The atmosphere is fantastic with tiered dining and a bar on the lower level. Food and wine never disappoints—nor does the service. Absolutely love this place!
Service lets this restaurant down. Even asking for mustard for a plate of charcuterie seemed to be too much.
