Terrazza Ratings and Reviews
This is one of the sunniest, prettiest dining rooms in LA. East Coasters' jaws just drop when they walk in. Our hostess was lovely, and our waiter very friendly. The kitchen seemed to have trouble keeping up with the orders, though: the cheese in my open-faced fried egg sandwich was not rich and melty when it arrived, but stiff and cold. Bummer. The fruit bowl with mint syrup had a generous serving of fresh berries and melon and a sprig of mint. Not a hint of mint-infused syrup. (It did the last time I ordered it.) So the food wasn't amazing this time, which it should be, considering the prices-- but the view almost made up for it. My East Coast friend was very happy.
I was so disappointed! The location and ocean views are amazing but the service in the restaurant was horrible! The restaurant was not crowded but the waiters were just standing around talking to one another as if we were not even there.
We had to flag down our waiter to order a drink, Then flag him down again for water, and once more to order or food. It was on demand service, if we didn't ask we didn't get.
I must say that the other hotel staff was exceptional. The Valet was professional and very welcoming and helpful. Just such a shame that when we got inside to the restaurant that the wait staff was so disappointing. Maybe the valet team should train the waiters?
I had a great dining experience at Terrazza. The service was outstanding. Our server helped us navigate through the menu, and allowed us to substitute the meat to satisfy our vegetarian eater.
The food was well prepared. Our Server came back to asked if our food was prepared to our liking. I highly recommend Terrazza to anyone looking for a great dining experience with an awesome Pacific Ocean view.
We actually ate at Catch, adjacent to Terrazza, as we read that Wed Night was tapas night and we wanted a regular dinner. We had a terrific dinner at Catch with great service. My wine glass was huge! and well worth the $16 price as it was about the size of two wine glasses you usually get at restaurants. I ordered crab cakes and the entree was scallops in a fabulous sauce. The dinner could not have been better! Then we moved over to Terrazza to hear the flamenco guitar group and dessert which was also great, molten chocolate cake, and Kahlua for our after-dinner drinks. Great atmosphere, quiet, one of the few places I have been where you can hear yourself talk. We will go back soon.
I took my mother for brunch on Sunday, we usually go to Shutters and love it but decided to switch it up a bit... we should've stuck to what we knew.
Nothing terrible, just no vibe, older crowd, much older and no ambiance whatsoever...
Food decent but expected more for the place...
Wouldn't go back...
Our breakfast entrees and the ambiance alone makes this a special place, but it is the service that makes Terazzo exceptional. The service is impeccable. The gentlemen waitstaff are clearly career professionals and add an air of civility that is growing more rare in the US. What a wonderful experience!
The restaurant is beautiful and our food was good. A little pricey for what is served but I guess you pay for the atmosphere. Our waitress was terrible- gave us a little attitude. Other than that the hotel employees were really friendly and the guys at the valet.
My friend and I selected Terrazza for lunch during DineLA this past week. We chose the gazpacho to start followed by the Lobster Ravioli. Both were outstanding and the service was as well. Add to that a window table overlooking Santa Monica beach and it was a perfect lunch.
Fantastic location and true white-glove service. We brought or own bottle of wine to celebrate a birthday and they even waived the corkage fee so of course we left a generous tip. Highly recommend this place to anyone and especially on a weekend evening when they have live music.
This place isn't really a restaurant. It is an extension to the hotel bar at Casa Del Mar. The way it appears on OpenTable, it leads one to believe that this place is a real restaurant, but it is not. It is basically open seating, tables have no table settings, and they serve the same food that you order at the bar. There are two cocktail servers that cover the entire area. The food is fair, but this is not a "Spanish tapas style restaurant" that the description states. There is ZERO reason for this place to be on OpenTable because there is no need for reservations. Great place to stop in for a drink and quick snack, but nothing more.
The table was not clean. Slow service. I was not asked how I wanted to have my steak prepared. Appetizers and main dishes arrived cold. Fried artichokes had a dull taste and reminded me of cardboard. The salads appeared to come straight from a bag at the grocery store. For what we received, the food was more than over-priced. I will not return!
We took my mother here for her 80th birthday and couldn't have been more pleased with our choice. The setting is so beautiful and really made the occasion extra special. The staff was very kind to my mom and gave us our preferred table that we asked for - by the window. The food was really good and the portions were definitely shareable, we ordered bruschetta, pizza and the chopped beet salad - all YUM. The only slight disappointment was the berry cobbler which we all thought was a little blase.
Terrazza was perfect for our family's Father's Day brunch. Eight of us were comfortable and delighted by the beach/ocean view, the great food, and the friendly service. The room is bright, open and beautiful, in the grand Spanish Colonial tradition - great high windows and ceilings, tasteful updated decor, comfortable seating, etc. We loved our visit!
This beautiful restaurant is unfortunately immediately next to a pick up bar (a super nice one) and the music played at the pick up bar overwhelms the ambiance of the restaurant. There is no wall of any sort "separating" the bar from the restaurant. At one point the bar singer started either screaming or got something caught and we had to ask the waiter to stop him.
The bar manager and the restaurant manager should work on getting a musical signature that will work for both places.
