Terrapin Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I go to Marist college down the road and a friend of mine recommended I try Terrapin. I went for my birthday last weekend with my parents and it was to die for. The food was spectacular and the portions were hearty and great for college students who love leftovers. I highly recommend the duck quesadillas! The decor inside was so beautiful I felt so festive and happy. On top of that, our server was really lovely and made great conversation while still leaving us plenty of alone time to eat in peace. It's my new favorite spot!
Visited with the restaurant with friends on December 7 after a book signing with Secretary Clinton. The food was delicious and our waiter was absolutely wonderful - attentive, informative (wine and food), personable. It was a fantastic experience. I need to go back soon and will spread the word. My only pet peeve, I still feel a nice salad should be included with a $30+ meal - thus the small drop in the rating for value. Other than that.... incredibly good
What a fantastic dining experience. The food was outstanding, as were the specialty cocktails. We trusted our server to recommend much of what we ordered and were not disappointed. It was a busy night, but we were in no way rushed or crowded. Truly a great meal from start to finish.
After many years, Terrapin continues to offer high quality food, pleasant atmosphere and good service for an enjoyable evening. While the entrees are good, it's the starters that shine. We love the truffled fig/brie quesadilla and the BBQ duck quesadilla with mango -avacado salsa that's a cut above. The calamari are special; extremely tender with tempura-like coating. Don't expect pedestrian marinara here; The delicate mouse-like pineapple dipping sauce is sublime.
Michelle was our server, and Terrapin is lucky to have such a pleasant professional, whose suggestion of chocolate lava cake was spot on to end our meal.
Another great meal! We went for restaurant week. The choices were varied. We each had the salmon as a main course-delicious! The appetizers were excellent also- the calamari and the fig and Brie quesadillas- ahhhhh! My only complaint is that there was so much scrumptious food, I had no room for the wonderful looking desserts! Thanks again for consistent quality throughout the over 15 years we have been dining there!
Went there with a friend during Restaurant Week. My husband and I had gone to Terrapin many times, and always loved the food. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our very inexpensive meals thanks to the Restaurant Week price menu. There was certainly no corners cut on the lower priced food, as delicious as always, and service very good. The only small problem was that there were several large tables that were a bit on the boisterous side, which made the noise level higher than usual, but it was a minor problem.
This was our second night there for "Restaurant Week", where we got a fixed price dinner at lower cost. If I complained about the food at all, it would be that my brined pork chop was slightly towards the dry side. Other than that, the food was fantastic. The waiter we had on the upper level was much more accommodating the first night we ate there. The second night, the waiter on the lower level was good, but everything came much slower, and he was hard to get a hold of. I thought it a bit sketchy when my wrapped leftovers were randomly sitting on another table.
WE love Terrapin! Being that it is an hour away from us we go for special occasions (Birthdays anniversaries) but, it is ALWAYS worth the trip. Luckily for us our anniversary falls during restaurant week and they send us a 20% off coupon every year to help us celebrate. I have-new to me-dietary restrictions and I was so happy that the waiter took the time to guide me and check twice with kitchen staff to be sure I had the safest most delicious meal possible. Highly recommend!
The staff at The Terrapin is always knowledgeable and friendly. I ordered gluten and dairy free dinner, and waiter was attentive to making sure my bread was the GF version and served with olive oil in lieu of butter. Terrapin is one of our local go to places.
Food was excellent - I recommend the calamari appetizer. Our waiter, Steven, was great - knowledgeable and fun. The dining room is beautiful but it is so loud! Very hard to have a conversation at the table, at times we had to yell to each other. They should consider some sound dampening solution. Was fun to walk out the door and stroll through Rhinebeck. Great evening out - in a beautiful town.
Our small group comes to Rhinebeck every year for the sheep and wool festival in October. Dinner at the Terrapin on Saturday night is JUST as much a part of our entire weekend experience as the festival. We look forward to it with great anticipation, and are already planning for next year’s trip. Of course, Patrick is THE highlight of our evening!!!!!
Had my annual dinner here with a friend. We come to the sheep and wool festival. Had the lamb shank, which was divine! Would love the recipe. I cook shanks a lot. The waiter was awesome and worth the trip alone. Keep up the good work. I'm a sheep producer from Oregon and know great shanks when I eat them!
