Terrapin Creek Cafe & Restaurant
Best place to eat in Bodega Bay. Great food and friendly staff.
am planning more visits with friends and family. The quail was awesome. Deleted the nuts for my allergy,
Hmmmm….. Sadly, I was sorely disappointed with the service and lack of communication. I wanted to love this place so much! Anticipation of a Michelin Star restaurant in a casual setting with amazing food was making me smile before I even got there! Upon entry, no one greeted us and we were sat at a very large table for only 3 of us. Coming from Chicago with many great restaurants, I was excited for an easy friendliness and knowledge of great wine and food. Not a single hello or how are you. NO description of the menu or wondering of what our food interests were. No water served and no one to describe any of the wines. Food, however, was incredible. Oysters and calamari were amazing and fresh. Dessert melted in our mouths. Wine that we ordered (without the help of server) will always be remembered. The food deserves a Michelon star but NOT the service.
Every time we visit it seems to get better. 5 of us shared. Every dish from seafood to quail to duck was topnotch!!
Our first visit here. We had an early dinner on what turned out to be a gorgeous day on the coast.
We each had a different appetizer , entree and dessert. Everything was delicious and presentation was
perfect. Our waiter was outstanding -we had a very relaxing meal-never felt the least bit rushed
We had a nice couple seated next to us as well which made for great dinner conversation..
It was a perfect end to my Birthday,
Everything we had was excellent. The octopus salad was so flavorful and creative. Yum!
Fabulous, as usual!!
After annual visits in recent years, I must say that Terrapin Creek offers consistently excellent food.
Many a time we have said “that was a perfect meal”
Food was very good and so was the service. Dessert was excellent! Definitely would go back again if we were in the vicinity.
Definently worth a visit if you are in Bodega Bay!
This is a great place. Amazing food casual ambiance..
Beautiful dining area and excellent food. The staff was very nice
Great location. Very nice dining room. Friendly but not intrusive staff. And great food!
A wonderful birthday dinner for 6. The food and service were both outstanding. Can't wait to go back.
Go every year when traveling through bodega bay. Love this restaurant and it never disappoints.
We live locally and this restaurant is our favorite. We have been many times and the food and service is consistently excellent. We take all our visitors there and everyone is impressed and eager to return. We feel very fortunate to have such a wonderful choice so close to home.
Excellent food and value!
Soup great, Gnocchi great. Really enjoyed it. Use to go there when it first opened. Andrew and his wife are great cooks and people.
The food at Terrapin Creek is consistently excellent. We had appetizers of grilled calamari salad and gnocchi with wild mushrooms and truffle butter. Both were wonderful, but I find myself salivating for the gnocchi dish since then. We had duck and mahi-mahi for dinner. Both the main courses and the side dishes (mixing fresh vegetables and grain in creative ways) were so good we didn’t leave room for dessert. My one regret! Next time, we may have appetizers only so we have room for dessert. I’ve had their desserts in the past, and they never disappointed. All this, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
Our second time here and it was just as incredible. Starters: gnocchi for my wife, and scallops for me. They were both excellent. Then duck for my wife and rib eye for me. Duck was cooked perfectly - succulent on the inside, crispy on the outside, and very flavorful. My rib eye was magic. Very accurately medium rare, which I am particular about. Not sure the source of the meat, but was very good quality. Nice and chargrilled too. I shouldn’t have eaten it all but it was just too good. Mouth wateringly good just thinking about it. My cheesecake was a great way to end this dinner. I will be coming back.
One of our favorite places to dine in the entire Bay Area! Great food and service ! Nice people.
Excellent, fresh and well-presented salads, entrees and dessert. Warm and friendly servers and hostess. Couldn't have asked for anything to be improved upon.
We make it a point to visit Bodega Bay once or twice a year... with our parties joining from San Francisco and Amador. And the centerpiece always of our visit is dinner at Terrapin. Menu is wonderful, food is beautifully made, staff very considerate and knowledgeable, vibe of the place very relaxed and comfortable, wine list really quite good, and chef owner husband and wife team are always right there "on the line".
As usual, everything was perfect for a great celebration!
Noisy, super small portions, and I am not a big eater, cold bread, which cost extra, no butter. I have never complained about a restaurant before, but will never come here again during our stay in Bodega Bay. Way over priced for what we got, and am not a cheapskate.
We loved the well-thought-out dishes. The octopus was perfectly cooked, and we enjoyed it with the cauliflower and brussels. The scallops were plated with a flavorful sunchoke puree. Gnocchi was light as air and not as heavy as you might expect something with so much butter would be! Quail dish was excellent—the flavors and textures all worked together, and the jus was outstanding. Any dessert with cream cheese icing gets my vote, but the chocolate cake was so good! I loved the toasted coconut, and the cake was perfectly baked and not too sweet. It was our first time there, but not our last!
This restaurant serves you in style and professionalism. The quality and flavor of every dish was excellent. I was disappointed that the duck dish was so rare that it showed clotted blood that was inedible to me. I sent it back to be cooked better and they returned it ok, but not perfect to what I requested to be more medium than rare. The desserts were a good size and delish. I highly recommend this restaurant and would return in a heartbeat.
Wonderful birthday celebration with good friends. Food was amazing and this restaurant is a true gem in Beautiful Bodega Bay!
Birthday dinner. Very comfortable place. Loved the avocado & shrimp salad.
Excellent as always. As far as l’m concerned Michelin Guide is wrong for not renewing Terrapin Creeks star rating, let alone a minimum bib gormound.
Great restaurant in Bodega Bay. This was our third dinner there over a period of 1 1/2 years. Consistently good. Big choice of appetizers. Only about 5 entrees, but all wonderful. Quail and Steak were fantastic on our most recent visit.
Visiting the coast got a few days.
Terrapin Creek was a last minute replacement for our planned restaurant which turned out to be closed. What a stroke of good luck. Everything about Terrapin Creek was excellent. We shared a salad, two entrees and a dessert. Each one was fresh, original, perfectly cooked and nicely presented. Our servers were prompt and friendly. The atmosphere is smart casual. Overall, the experience was first-rate, comparable with the better San Francisco and Berkeley restaurants
Best rib eye ever!! Great service. Our favorite restaurant ever recently closed. - now we have found a new one!
My duck was delisc. - cooked to perfection on the inside, crunchies on the outside!
Also, fantastic oysters & bread pudding for dessert.
A wonderful dining experience! We felt warmly welcomed by the entire restaurant team including Andrew and Lee, the owners. This is a delightful space that offers a tasty wine list and beautiful, delicious entrees, each one better than the one before!
We highly recommend Terrapin Creek Cafe even if you have a bit of a drive to get there. In fact, we drove 60 miles, and we will absolutely do it again very soon!
We are so fortunate to have such a welcoming, cozy, tasteful, healthy, and delicious restaurant right here in Bodega Bay. Vegetarian options available. Enjoy it, cherish it.
Every time we visit our friends in Bodega Bay, we make sure to visit this restaurant. The food was great as usual and the wine selections were wonderful. Great restaurant and the owner and staff really treat the customers special.
Andrew and Lyda’s food is so wonderful. Very local ingredients, beautifully prepared. The oysters are always stunning, his pasta dishes perfect, and the fish and meat are always cooked to perfection. He made some gnocchi that were so light and airy that it was hard to believe they were made from potatoes. The place is simple and informal, but the service is precise without being fussy. Just a great experience, and even better than last time we were there.
We love dining at Terrapin Creek whenever we are in Bodega. The food is always wonderful, excellent preparation and beautiful presentation. The Octopus Salad is a favorite of ours and the oysters they serve are positively succulent! We're from Auburn, CA and feel the occasional trip is well worth the experience of dining at Terrapin Creek Cafe.
A delicious and delightful restaurant for dinner in Bodega Bay.
