It used to be my go to favorite place to dine. The ambiance is so special I brought all my guests from out of town. But lately, the experience is very disappointing. The service has been and still is attentive, curteous, professional, and friendly. But the food has become far less than special. I can't say there were things wrong with our food. It is more like we don't enjoy the dishes as we once did. The menu is getting old, so we tired of their choices and moved on. One night I requested the rack of lamb. I was told they were out of it, despite that there were only two other diners there that night. There is a supermarket virtually next door, how can you be out of anything? On another evening, the menu was so boring my whole party ordered a burger. That was a Saturday night and the restaurant was half empty. No surprise. On yet another visit, there were mice running around the floor, under our table the entire time. I forgive them for this since their have an open wall to a nursery. However, I suggested they get a cat and keep it in the office during the restaurant hours. Terraine, please return to what you used to be.
Last Sunday was the first time I’ve been to this cafe and I absolutely loved it! The menu was thoughtful and varied, something for everyone. The warm bread served in a terra-cotta pot was definitely one of the high points for this self-confessed carb addict!
Just one aspect that could be improved: the water provided was clearly tap water with a very strong smell of chlorine. Maybe filter the water to get rid of that heavy chlorine smell, or substitute a bottled water. All the rest of the ingredients are so carefully curated that the tap water stood out as a neglected detail.
Don't bother making a reservation. We had to wait to 30 min despite making a reservation a day in advance. The hostess didn't bother to update us about the status of our table and we literally had to hover around to see what's going on. Very disappointed in the service and hospitality factor
Delicious vegetarian options.
Always consistent. Very good.
Always perfection! Thank you!! Xx
Terrrain cafe is a wonderful place- I enjoy it very much.. Food, atmosphere- terrific.
We waited a bit longer for our table (20+ mins..with reservations made ahead of time)- and service seemed a bit rushed. Unusual, as I have not encountered this on any previous visits. Probably just one of those unanticipated, busy days!
Was there with friends, so not a huge deal. Will definitely be back!
nice avocado & poached egg on toast
i only gave 3 stars because the menu has remained unchanged for way too long now
it needs daily specials & updating every season
i wouldnt eat here more than a few times a year because of this
Best brunch spot especially for the little ones! Love the bread that comes in a planter and the mimosas are yummy. The food is always good no matter what you order!!
Food is always good and the servers are great. I was an hour early and they made feel at home.
The appetizers were delicious, but I ordered the short rib and it was very tough and not fall off the bone at all. I ended up eating very little of it.
I love this restaurant and there's nothing like wandering around Terrain to see all of the beautiful items to buy for ones garden or home.
Great environment. Food is 4/5.
Always have a wonderful time when I come to dine. Your wait staff is always friendly and takes good care of us...never feel rushed. Especial shout out to your sous chef Meghan... love it when she cooks for us (and yes, I'm partial to her... she's my niece). Happy to recommend Terrain.
Love the location and being surrounded by an incredible garden center. Menu is creative but needs some work - too much oil for the cauliflower steak, falafel in the vegan quinoa bowel was undercooked and the whole dish rather bland. But, fresh, organic and vegan friendly and I look forward to trying their brunch menu. Service...... Server forgot our drinks and didn't return for a long time, and we are fairly certain that our entrees were mistakenly given to the couple next to us, who arrived much later and coincidentally had ordered the exact same entrees.
I love having lunch at Terrain, mostly for the setting in their lovely glassed in (or not) garden. The food can be really wonderful as it was this time, with a few imperfections like soup not being hot enough. Or the food can be disappointing when I ordered a mushroom quiche that had no mushrooms in it and the crust tasted store bought. But I still return again and again as the menu is often inventive with many vegetarian and healthy options. Yesterday's not hot nor mushroomed enough mushroom soup was still delicious and the avocado toast was beautifully spiced.
I am here weekly. It is my happy place with happy people ;). ✨✨✨
Pleasant atmosphere with great food, our waitress was very informative and friendly. I recommend an afternoon of shopping and lunch.
Great food and service, excellent for date night. The drinks were fantastic.
I love eating at Terrain. One thing that seemed a bit odd was that they ran out of a few things on the menu at 7:30 PM on a Saturday night. I now this place is busy, so you'd think they'd be able to cover their menu at 7:30, but oddly that wasn't the case. A bit of a disappointment. On the flip side, the food they actually DID have was delicious. Service was great.
My second visit to Terrain - this visit was much better than my first experience. The service was much better, but not quite attentive enough, (ie: additional beverages and drink refills). Food was very good, one item came out incorrectly, but was fixed right away.
For my birthday we went here. But I’ve been many times before and it never disappoints. :)
A lovely brunch. Food was excellent and service too. A favorite.
Unfortunately first impressions do count. First time here and I was given dirty silverware twice in a row and then decided to use my fingers. Other than that food was good and service was good though It was very noisy.
I used to wait tables and rolled silverware. Obviously someone does this job in this establishment. They should be trained to rewash silverware caked with food!
A nice surprise. The food was delicious. We each had a salad. My friend topped her salad with salmon and it was a very generous piece of fish! Cappuccino was also delish. Would come back.
Excellent, as usual!
Lovely evening on a cold winter’s night. Our server was wonderful and the food was excellent.
Always enjoyable and food is very good. Healthy options are abundant.
very nice overall but the menu needs regular changing - or at least 2-3 daily specials
it is gettingboring now to eat there regularly!
great friendly service though
Terrene provides most interesting environment a plant store with a “natural food and other eatery.
The service was excellent and the menu provided a diverse choice of unique items such as pumpkin flavored food skin salmon etc.
Maître d’ was very gracious and helpful the waitress Margo was most helpful and provided excellent service
Major critique is the noise level one finds it difficult to indulgent conversation across the table. I don’t know the answer but this is the major drawback
I have to say that this place has everything going for it except for flavor. It was some of the blandest food I have had in a restaurant...
The plates looked pretty, but the food was boring. And it didn't have to be.
Very good food, casual, some seating in garden shop. Pricey, but its Westport
Love Terrain and it’s Café! Just felt everything was “off”during this visit. (Especially the Food and service) It won’t stop us from returning!
Love this spot, beautifully decorated and service is consistently good. The bread in a flower pot is sooo good. I wouldn't say there's real value for money here, small portions, but you go for the wider experience, which is very good.
Table was full of crumbs at 10 am (when they open). The noise level was only a bit much because of the table of 12 Britney’s having a birthday brunch which is typical Westport so it goes with the territory, one couple asked to move because “they left their teenage daughter home for a reason” lol. Nonetheless, the food is great so we powered through.
First time at Terrain - everything was excellent. Very busy - had to wait a bit for our reservation but worth it.
So, normally the service here is very good, but they must have been busy. Had to wait 20 minutes past my reservation time to be seated. The bread took 20 minutes as well, but the drinks came quickly
Another great lunch experience at the cafe - love the moss installations on the walls -
I had the cauliflower sandwich which sounds like an interesting idea but was barely a slab of fried cauliflower in an hamburger bun. Still good but fairly basic.
The bread is very good.
Tasty food and cool vibe! The wait staff was pretty friendly and helpful, too.
