Great building with tons of interesting architecture and displays..
The menu was varied and wide ranged , including gluten free options.
Burger was nothing special and didn’t come as ordered.
When I told the server ,it wasn’t well received.
Wonderful as always !!! Thank you terrain
Food was great!
Amazing good! Beautiful atmosphere! Waiters were fast and friendly!
We were there for a birthday lunch with my mother and they were wonderful to us! Service was attentive and personable. We felt cared for and not rushed! Food was great! Atmosphere was delightful! Still one of my favorite spots!!!
Cafe was busy
Had a hard time getting drinks
Extra requests like addl butter etc never happened
Staff very nice but different people did different tasks. Somewhat confusing.
Mother daughter with some friends
Pretentious atmosphere, tasteless meal, excellent service
Great space and awesome food choices. Only minor issues were 1) wrong meal brought to table, and 2) layer of egg inside omelet was still raw.
I was there Saturday 11am for Brunch. Our simple egg benedict dishes took 45 minutes to come and they were overdone. The waitress was very apologetic and gave us a free desert. This was my second visit. I am not in a rush to go back again.
Service was very poor. Sporadic. Was not crowded and yet has to ask or remind waitress for drinks/food, etc.
Always excellent and service is better then ever. Thanks Robbie!
Great food, stingy glasses of wine, desultory service
Their updated menu is great (many more vegetarian options than before), and I enjoyed the orange toast with greek yogurt. The location is always packed on weekday afternoons so make sure to make a reservation ahead of time if you're going for lunch.
Ate at Terrain Easter Sunday. At 5pm the restaurant was not crowded. The service was just ok...not attentive, did not check to see if meal was ok, did not ask if we wanted a second drink (and we did), no spoon served with soup and when we got one it was filty (obviously from the dirty utensil pile). The food itself was very good especially the mushroom soup...flavorful and just the right thickness. The grain bowl was nicely done and the short rib was delicious. Terrain has a unique atmosphere, one that seems more appealing in the warmer months. The metal chairs scraping on the floor when people get in and out is loud and really annoying...when a whole table left at one time it was like a symphony of metal on metal. Overall, just an average meal for us and nothing special. Been here a few times already but not rushing to return.
Easter brunch. Fresh and enjoyable.
Tables were a little close together but my family really enjoyed
Food was mostly good, but the bread dough hadn’t been salted (a shame, since their bread is usually amazing) and the short ribs were way overdone (incredibly dry). We had to ask for extra sauce for the ribs, just to make them edible, but that sauce was way too salty. Felt like an off night for the kitchen, which was a bummer. Usually, they’re much better.
Food is amazing, just expensive
Service was rude and stand offish. It ruined the experience. Food was good but not enough to justify the unkind service.
This is a good restaurant! One thinks of it as “someplace different” but it’s more than that. The menu is interesting, the food is delicious and fresh. The wine list is small, but better than average. It’s best in summer when one can enjoy the open doors and flower-scented breezes. Even on a blustery night, though, it is warm and inviting. We really like this place!
Beautiful place. Lovely food! Friendly service.
Took some friends and sister for a 60th birthday lunch.....all was great just surprised that even though on open table reservation I listed that it was a birthday there was no mention of it from the hostess or the server.
We drove down to Westport to meet some friends of ours who were visiting New York City and decided to take the train to Westport as an excursion. We enjoy the ambience at Terrain because of all the beautiful plants and garden decor. The service is very attentive and friendly. The food is very good. Being in Westport it is busy for Sunday brunch so call several days ahead for reservations.
Lovely and delicious. Great place to meet a friend for lunch
Love love love Terrain for breakfast/lunch!!!
Dinner menu is very disappointing. The ambiance is weird with all the curtains blocking the view into the store.
The food was spectacular and the staff was very friendly!
It used to be my go to favorite place to dine. The ambiance is so special I brought all my guests from out of town. But lately, the experience is very disappointing. The service has been and still is attentive, curteous, professional, and friendly. But the food has become far less than special. I can't say there were things wrong with our food. It is more like we don't enjoy the dishes as we once did. The menu is getting old, so we tired of their choices and moved on. One night I requested the rack of lamb. I was told they were out of it, despite that there were only two other diners there that night. There is a supermarket virtually next door, how can you be out of anything? On another evening, the menu was so boring my whole party ordered a burger. That was a Saturday night and the restaurant was half empty. No surprise. On yet another visit, there were mice running around the floor, under our table the entire time. I forgive them for this since their have an open wall to a nursery. However, I suggested they get a cat and keep it in the office during the restaurant hours. Terraine, please return to what you used to be.
Last Sunday was the first time I’ve been to this cafe and I absolutely loved it! The menu was thoughtful and varied, something for everyone. The warm bread served in a terra-cotta pot was definitely one of the high points for this self-confessed carb addict!
Just one aspect that could be improved: the water provided was clearly tap water with a very strong smell of chlorine. Maybe filter the water to get rid of that heavy chlorine smell, or substitute a bottled water. All the rest of the ingredients are so carefully curated that the tap water stood out as a neglected detail.
Don't bother making a reservation. We had to wait to 30 min despite making a reservation a day in advance. The hostess didn't bother to update us about the status of our table and we literally had to hover around to see what's going on. Very disappointed in the service and hospitality factor
Delicious vegetarian options.
Always consistent. Very good.
Always perfection! Thank you!! Xx
Terrrain cafe is a wonderful place- I enjoy it very much.. Food, atmosphere- terrific.
We waited a bit longer for our table (20+ mins..with reservations made ahead of time)- and service seemed a bit rushed. Unusual, as I have not encountered this on any previous visits. Probably just one of those unanticipated, busy days!
Was there with friends, so not a huge deal. Will definitely be back!
nice avocado & poached egg on toast
i only gave 3 stars because the menu has remained unchanged for way too long now
it needs daily specials & updating every season
i wouldnt eat here more than a few times a year because of this
Best brunch spot especially for the little ones! Love the bread that comes in a planter and the mimosas are yummy. The food is always good no matter what you order!!
Food is always good and the servers are great. I was an hour early and they made feel at home.
The appetizers were delicious, but I ordered the short rib and it was very tough and not fall off the bone at all. I ended up eating very little of it.
I love this restaurant and there's nothing like wandering around Terrain to see all of the beautiful items to buy for ones garden or home.
Great environment. Food is 4/5.
Always have a wonderful time when I come to dine. Your wait staff is always friendly and takes good care of us...never feel rushed. Especial shout out to your sous chef Meghan... love it when she cooks for us (and yes, I'm partial to her... she's my niece). Happy to recommend Terrain.
