Terrain Garden Café - Westport
When we arrived we were given a table by the coffee service area. I requested to be in the garden/restaurant area. They were kind enough to move us. We enjoyed our meal. If we were left in the coffee area I don’t think we would have ordered what we did and had some wine. We probably would of had coffee and a dessert.
We ate dinner at Terrain for the first time recently. We sat in their indoor garden room--a beautiful setting with rustic high ceilings and lovely views to watch dusk turn into night. The room was comfortably full and the buzz and vibe were excellent--very positive energy throughout. That is doubtless due to the wonderful servers at Terrain--very professional, efficient, and knowledgeable.
The food had a delightful sense of farm-to-table. We started with zucchini and feta croquettes and an heirloom tomato salad, both of which were superb. As mains, one of us had an excellent hamburger (very popular based on the number being served) while the other had a smoked salmon toast, which had a very generous amount of salmon. The food was delicious--a perfect informal summer evening meal for a very reasonable amount of money. We walked out with happy smiles and will look forward to the next time there.
The food was excellent as it always is. I wish the server could have been a little more attentive. We needed to look around for her for extra water or to order our entree, and then again to order dessert. This is a fantastic spot for lunch, and shopping before or after is a bonus.
Friendly service, good food, I wish there were more options but overall amazing
A lovely spot for lunch or dinner. The food is locally sourced and never fails to be delicious. The service is excellent.
Food was well prepared, but serving staff seemed inexperienced. Server knew nothing about the beer selection, apps came at same time as entree, then checked to make sure everything was okay before we had even taken a bite. No deal breakers here, just not an ideal experience. Wasn’t busy either. Maybe I’ll try on a different day and time for a better experience.
Food is amazing and very clean. I would recommend coming at a less busy time.
Great food in beautiful place
good service and lovely food! garden shop should be open later...
The food was fabulous. The chairs were comfortable, but hey made a lot of noise when moved. Sound proof panels above would help in reducing the noise. Loved watching the osprey nest out the window. They liked dining on fish too.
Had a fabulous day! Enjoyed everything from shopping to lunch. Will definitely be back
Terrain is worth every penny and has consistently been nothing but perfect. I’m not one to eat out often and I usually stay away from racking up a higher restaurant bill when I do, but Terrain is somewhere I’m 100% happy to shell out a few extra bucks for an incredible meal that lives up to the hype. The food coupled with the super friendly staff and beautiful setting makes it a real special experience every time.
I’ve had great meals here but the menu is the same at dinner as it is for lunch and my chicken was dry and rubbery and the entrees could be more inspired at dinner than they were.
I took my nephew here for brunch after he had been traveling and we wanted to catch up. It was a beautiful atmosphere and a yummy menu. Very pleasant service. I’d go back anytime!
Hi Jennifer We’re so happy to hear you had a good experience while dining with us. We look forward to your next visit and hope that we can share another special day with you again soon!
It took forever to get our order and it came well over done. But they removed the charge for our check.
Incredible space. Incredible food!
lovely as always! our server (sorry didn't catch her name) was had great sense of humor and so attentive!
The food is always very good here and it is usually busy, so best to make a reservation. Burger is best ever!
This is a wonderful place to meet a friend for coffee, lunch, dinner.....although the prices are high, they use quality ingredients and the service is friendly. The shop is also a real gem....with home items, gorgeous plants and books.
I recommend but not for a group of over 8. I wanted to celebrate my birthday with all of my friends and we had to split up at two tables completely across the room from each other. The service was fine but nothing extraordinary. The food was good and the setting is incredible. Not for big groups but a fun place to eat at.
The store and overall surroundings are absolutely beautiful. That being said, my expectations from other diner was very, very high and I was let down overall. Our serve lacked any great knowledge on the menu (we had an allergy) and didn't offer to make any adjustments. The bread and butter brought to the table looked a lot better than it tasted, it lacked flavor and was dry.
For our meals, the resounding winner was a simple side salad, all other food, while good, was just not great. With my high expectations, this was a letdown.
My last review of Terrain was not favorable. I am here to say we were pleasantly surprised at the upgrades recently. Let's start with the outdoor chairs. Your clothes will no longer be destroyed by their chairs. And they're comfortable too. The menu has been updated a bit in the last year but more importantly the quality and presentations are significantly improved. The wine choices were very good. The hummus appetizer was phenomenal. Absolutely wonderful presentation and delicious. Both my wife and I had salads with add ons and they were delicious. The scallops were outstanding and the steak was perfectly done and delicious. We are so glad that Terrain has upped its standards to where they were in the past. We will certainly be back again.
Our service was really bad . Our server acted like she was doing us a favor to help us, but the food is always good, but its a bit pricey.
Excellent, fresh food, locally sourced. All served in an interesting and attractive place.
Acoustics a little tricky but overall it’s a wonderful place to eat and be!
Great food! And I just love the gardening store !!
Food + outdoor setting is lovely, if $ pricey. Service started attentively then not so as the lunch went on. Took a while to get a check + don’t know what happened to our original wait person. I get changes in shifts, but would be nice, especially at these prices, to be given a courtesy hand-off!
Never ever disappoints
Unfortunately, the chicken that I ordered to accompany a salad was poached (?). Tasteless and ruined the meal for me. The food here is consistently hit or miss.
Had a nice lunch outside. Staff was very helpful and nice. We both ordered salads and ice teas which were delicious. However the $50+ price tag for that perhaps a bit high...nyc prices in westport!
Had a really nice celebratory brunch at Terrain. Would definitely return.
Love Terrain. My wife and I have been coming here for years and really like the food and staff. Megan, Maggie, Rachel, Damien and others I'm forgetting always make us feel at home. Food is consistently good and represents excellent value in the Westport marketplace. Other diners must agree as it's hard to get a table if you don't book ahead. Brunch on the weekends is fantastic!
The food is great and the menu is unique. What really stood out to me was how amazing the staff were... super friendly and patient with me and my 1 year old!
Fabulous brunch spot. Always on my go-to list when entertaining guest and taking them out for breakfast/lunch
Overall a nice brunch but could use more shade in the outdoor seating area.
Great food. Enjoyed the eggs Benedict. Eggs were perfectly done. Great view of the osprey nest.
Amazing food, atmosphere , wait staff ... exceptional service!!!! My 4th time ..... outstanding !!!!!!!!
Went for lunch with a friend. Food is fresh and delicious. She had the French Toast. I had the Omelette. We were both pleased with our choices. Our server was a little, disinterested, is the nicest way to put it. It was busy, but not swamped (there was no wait and a reasonable number of empty tables). We waited for our drinks. We waited for her to take our order. We felt neglected. And it's a little loud. We could hear each other - but it's all hard surfaces so sound definitely bounces around. We would go back for sure!
If you love cold poached eggs and hollandaise...this is your place! I had the California Benedict, the eggs were over cooked and the sauce was cold. Additionally, my friend's mushroom soup was lukewarm, delicious, but not even close to hot.
Service was OK, I will not return.
