Terrain Garden Cafe Ratings and Reviews
My daughter was visiting from Boston and enjoys the distinctive shopping experience at Terrain, so we decided to stay through lunch. The choices were different from the norm, healthy and fresh...and very appealing. The cold dishes we chose were excellent and hearty...more filling than we expected....farro with greens, cauliflower with quinoa. The fries with truffle parmesan were impossible to resist. A shop employee recommend the mushroom soup, which was smooth, creamy, and very tasty. If there's a downside here, it's a lack of masculine appeal, and we both wondered what our husbands might have ordered. Of course, women are their main shoppers at midday and midweek, so also their main diners. Certainly works for me!
We decided to celebrate on Saturday for our year before we get married at Terrain. The food was outstanding! And the atmosphere was just perfect. We had such a fantastic time there. We will definitely be back for brunch and dinner and it's making us even more excited for our wedding.
My sister and i went to Saturday brunch and enjoyed it. We split 3 items, whipped ricotta (picture I’ve uploaded), breakfast board, and a maple French toast which i think had hazelnuts on it. We also got salted Carmel lattes. Everything was delicious and fresh and the setting was so pretty. Our bill was almost $65. The service was exceptional too, our waitress was so nice and offered recommendations. At the end of the meal a gentleman came over to ask how our meal was. We proceeded to inquire about getting a tour of the wedding venue and he accommodated us on the spot. It was very nice. After that, we walked around the shop which is so cute (a little expensive though).
Oh dear, after several disappointing visits, I still gave It another chance. I live out of state and visit Terrain 3-4 times a year. I always stay for about 2 hours and it is most convenient to eat in the cafe. The ambiance is charming! However, the food continues to disappoint. My friend had an omelet that was the consistency of a sponge! Our soup wasn't warm. I will say the service was fine this time - not slow as in the past. I won't visit again as with the noise , sometimes very slow service and food that is neither good or worth the price, it simply is not enjoyable.
We went for lunch and found Terrace Garden to be a delightful destination. The menu offered a croque madame and omelets which satisfied our appetite for eggs. Service was attentive and efficient. A stroll through the shops provided a great after lunch entertainment. It's a good experience.
I really wanted to love this restaurant but our experience fell short. In our reservation I expressed that it was my birthday and we were traveling a long way to come to the restaurant and if we could have nice seating. We were sat at a very small table in view of the bathroom, nowhere near the beautiful greenhouse seating. The menu was lacking in gluten free and sugar free options but I decided on the scallops and pork belly while my husband had the duck. My dinner was tasty but slightly overcooked for scallops. The portions were also very small for the price. Our 2 small plates, one iced tea, and a sparkling water came out to $73. Dessert wasn't an option since there weren't any GF and SF options. Our entire experience for my "special" birthday dinner lasted 37 minutes :-( We left hungry and disappointed.
Terrain has an interesting atmosphere as part of a garden center and high-end decoration/outdoor entertainment outlet. The servers were polite and friendly. BYOB is a plus.
My only complaint was the food -- it simply wasn't very good. My wife ordered pumpkin soup and the short rib entree. The pumpkin soup was bland and lumpy (could have used more blending). The short rib was so rich it was barely edible. I ordered frites and the scallops and pork belly entree. The frites were pretty bland. The scallops were good, but the pork bellies overcooked and tasteless.
Our hostess was very sweet and welcoming, BUT we made a reservation two months in advance for a birthday dinner and we weren’t seated until 20 minutes past the reservation time. That was a bit disappointing. Food - excellent, atmosphere - excellent, service was not so great. Waitress was very dry and did not make us feel welcome. When we asked for more bread she took our bread/appetizer plates away... so we had to eat the bread off of our napkin. Overall I would enjoy going there again, I just hope we receive a little better care from the staff.
We took our friends for their 50th anniversary and drove all the way from Lancaster, Pa. They
had never been there before. The meal was good, and my friend took notice of the nice soaps you had in the adjoining room, so I wanted to surprise them and get them a few as an anniversary present. When I took them to the counter to pay for them I was told that this part of the store was closed and that I could NOT purchase them. I told the lady that I would just leave the cash $$ and that she could then give it to the appropriate personnel in the morning. She proceeded to tell me that she could not do that. WHAT?? Then why would you even have this merchandise displayed in that area of the restaurant when it is not for sale during those hours. I think this is inexcusable and not customer friendly. My friends were astonished and disappointed also, so I would not rate your establishment very highly in terms of customer service and kindness. It just left a bad taste in my mouth after spending about $250 for dinner for 4. I will have to digest this experience for a while and I'm not sure that I want to come back. Customer service and satisfaction is uppermost, had that been me I would have given the soaps away for free with a friendly " Happy Anniversary ". So sad !!!!!! Dr. Wolfram H. Andrews
Celebrating a milestone birthday with my spouse.
enjoyed the ease in which one can make a reservation.
the restaurant was entirely too loud.
the servers were very accommodating to our request to change seating which was helpful but still not a nice spot for a romantic lunch.
food took about an hour to be served.
servers were very attentive to dietary needs which was much appreciated.
steak meal was wonderful but salad very gritty.
didn't even want to stay to look at dessert menu!
love terrain and will come to buy plants and gifts but I will just breeze through for a latte next time.
the food was ok, the ambiance was so/so- but the noise level was unbearable- just trying to talk to my friend at a two person table left me hoarse from having to scream everything. I couldn't even hear what the waitress was saying. I will never go back. Even the items for sale were not appealing. I had eaten there several times before with a much different experience.
Loved our time in the greenhouse area of the cafe. Wait staff was knowledgeable and attentive. I ordered the omlette. Fluffy, but a little dry and while I hoped to it would taste of leeks, they were barely noticeable. My husband had the Breakfast Board. Beautiful presentation and yummy offerings in the way of bacon and sausage (great flavor). Potatoes equally yummy with a little crust on them. The bread in the flower pots and sage/maple butter were outstanding. I would come just for that and the ambiance.
When I visit Terrain and Terrain Cafe I feel close to nature and all of my senses ignite. It is very enjoyable. The only place I feel that Terrain Cafe misses the mark is by not offering many more plant-based and vegan recipes. They are in an excellent position to showcase how delicious plant-based, vegan dishes really are. I would love to see a wider variety of vegan dishes, which communicates compassion toward animals and our planet, and is also health-promoting for Terrain Cafe patrons.
