Terrain Garden Cafe Ratings and Reviews
The ambience was unique and comfortable, set inside a garden shop/greenhouse. The food was superb, as was the great selection of teas and coffees. I had the braised short rib which was excellent, and my vegetarian colleague had the mushroom risotto, which he raved about. The fresh baked bread was served in a small garden pot and was hot and delicious. I would come back any time.
Dining at Terrain’s Garden Cafe is consistently a delicious experience. We all had the mushroom soup to start. It was the best I’ve had. Two of us had the omelette (with salad) which was cooking perfectly and was very tasty. The freshly baked “flower pot” bread is always a treat. I added a cup of gingerbread chai tea to finish a delightful lunch with friends.
Came here for a Christmas getaway.... snowed 5" the night we came, indoor/outdoor Dhristmas shopping, Christmas music, couldnt have worked out any better.
Amazing dinner.... place was perfect, my wife loved it.
We had the beef entree and the scallops/bacon entree.
I was disappointed with our food... My daughter had the burger with the truffle fries which was excellent. My mother in law had the mushroom soup with the carrot toast and that was also delicious. I ordered the chicken breast with arugula and quinoa which was VERY disappointing. The chicken was undercooked- pink .... and not flavorful.
My sister in law ordered the wheatberry salad which was just ok. Menu seems very limited. Terrain is so innovative- thought lunch would be so much better. The roof was leaking (it was snowing) table behind us had to move.
We have been to Terrain a number of times and have always been pleased so we were surprised by our most recent visit which was unsatisfactory. Service was slow(although the waiter was pleasant) and the food was "Meh". Would reconsider whether to go for dinner again.
As I said in a recent email my most recent experience was awful. As a frequent customer, & diner in the Cafe, I brought a friend from NJ for lunch. I made reservations in advance because I know this time of year is busy. Our server was less than adequate, she did a lot of talking, & no listening. Her feedback on choices was off, & didn't come back to check on us after we were served. I found a black hair on my salad plate, & gave it to someone passing by. She came back later with half a new salad with dressing ( told her I didn't want it)bagged, with our check. The only saving grace was a Manager who happened to be informed ,who came over, apologized, got me a new salad, & removed it from our bill. Not a great experience for my first time friend, who I had been raving about how great the Cafe was!
Very disappointed with my yogurt, fruit, and granola. The granola looked like a brick which had been broken into pieces. Could not penetrate it with my fork! They removed the granola, served what remained, and charged me FULL PRICE! A good manager would have comped me for that disaster!
This was our first time here and we all enjoyed every aspect of our visit. Our waitress was very attentive answering our questions about the dishes and recommendations. When the food arrived it was beautifully arranged on the plate.... food art. But the amazing thing was each one of us raved about our selections. I ordered the trout served on wheat berries and arugula.... and the burnt carrot purée with sweet potatoes was the delicious finishing touch.
It was a wonderful way for 3 generations of women to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season.
The ambiance is the only redeeming quality Terrain has to offer. Not one person in our group enjoyed their meal, food was extremely salty, and our server seemed as if she wanted to be doing anything other than serving our table. Maybe brunch has more to offer but will not be returning for dinner.
My husband and I had brunch on a Sunday, having taken the recommendation of a neighbor. We took with us a very special friend visiting from Sweden (who has traveled all over the world). All three of us were charmed and delighted by the setting, the food and the service. While it's an hour from where we live, we will definitely make the trip and go back!
I’ve been to Terrain Cafe a few times over the years. The service has gotten.. mediocre. Coming from the service industry, I feel like my experience was subpar. The server was clearly overwhelmed. Took her 20 minutes to even great us or poor water. We started opened the champagne we brought for mimosas just because we didn’t even have water. She past our table a couple of times before greeting us. When she finally did, she huffed out of frustration. They added more tables to the cafe area which made things tight. I ordered a latte and the person from the cafe delivering it to our table bumped into our server and spilt coffee on my leg. Actually wanted to ask them to make it hotter. I think they should open maybe an outside cafe to decrease how cluttered that space feels and the volume. Just felt like the whole retaurant was overwhelmed. Food was good. Just really cannot stand the service anymore.
Food was good. Good balance of heakthiness and taste. Ambience is great: nice woods, plants, and decors overall.
Everything was great until dessert. Shouldve never ordered it. I got a sampler, which had a pumpkin cake with thick black hair stuck in it. They apologized and were quick to bring new sampler. By then, i was really full And decided to take home the rest. The pumpkin cake had hair in it again. It made me feel disgusted. The food is great, but such unsanitary experience really brought it down. And to think I paid 20 dollars for the sampler....
The Wifey and I made a trip to Terrain Garden Store to see what we could see. As we knew we would enjoy some food befor we shopped, we made a reservation for 11:15. We checked in at 11 and were seated promptly by the friendly staff at 11:15 sharp.
Our dining experience was flawless. Our customer service professional, Mary Beth, was great. She was cheerful, knowledgeable, and very helpful guiding us throw the special soup and the myriad of choices offered on the menu. Mary Beth was funny and very adept; attentive without being intrusive.
The food was excellent and well prepared and presented. My delicious burger was cooked to temp and the Wifey’s salad type dish was great. Both were made with Care and fresh ingredients.
The service throughout was excellent. Other servers were cycling through the restaurant with water and delicious bread and made for a genuinely seamless and wonderful experience. We never wanted for anything and the communication from Mary Beth was stellar as to why the food took a bit to come out.
Great execution for certain. Thank you Miss MaryBeth and team!
Amazing cuisine and a beautiful earthly environment... so relaxing and the food just delicious !!! The farmhouse cheeseboard~ my favorite!!! Enjoyed my birthday lunch with my sister -in law and drowned our thirst in the hibiscus 🌺 ice tea... we will be back for more...
