I was disappointed and expected something more and with better ambience based upon the description. It was basically like eating at a hotel lobby where they might serve free breakfast like a Holiday Inn Express.
Amazing, delicious. The atmosphere is very quaint. I enjoyed this restaurant alot.
This place has gone down hill. Each meal at our table of 4 was poorly, and unevenly, cooked. Our dog had a hard time eating the ribs my daughter ordered but couldn’t eat.
When we walked in, they had a janitors cart next to the hostess stand that reeked of cleaning fluid, not appetizing and should have been our sign to leave.
Took us 30 minutes to get two simple salads, and they did not have all the indgredients they were supposed to. Location and the hotel look nice, but very poorly run.
Serviços was terrible. Good was Just ok. Price unfair...
My meal was cold and had very little taste. For a $28 entree, it was very disappointing!
Could have been a nice outdoor dining experience but the service was impossibly slow.
Small but lovely menu, skillfully thought out and presented in an interesting manner... loved the steamed purple carrots with the hummus. My companion thought the burger was great (bread was fresh).
No ice cream for cobbler, really? Go pick some up.
Service was slower than expected. Table of 7, one meal brought out 10 minutes after the other 6. Disappointed. Having said that, food was excellent.
Booked this based on reviews, location and availability during a busy conference week for a business group. Wrong choice. Mediocre all around. Ok for a drink outside. Inside felt more like a diner. There was a reason it was available.
While we all enjoyed our entrees, it was surprising how many items the waiter told us were unavailable, even though the restaurant was not very crowded. And the same thing happened when we ordered the pecan pie for dessert, he came back and told us they were out of that. To his credit, when I said I would not have ordered tea if I had known we wouldn't be having dessert, he didn't charge me for the tea.
I've enjoyed this small restaurant, located in a boutique hotel over the past 5 or 6 years, but the last several times they seems to be just getting worse. The restaurant's move several years ago from the second floor to the first seems to have heralded the decline.
There now appears to be some distance your food has to be brought from the kitchen - it all arrives with a metal cover, presumably to keep it warm. It does not. My trout was soggy and my veggies limp. The crab fritters were virtually crab-free, and my daughter's steak was room temperature and her fries tasted like frozen ones from a bag.
On the bright side, the service was fabulous and the cocktails perfect. Though it was January, the unseasonable warmth made it possible to sit outside - a fun way to watch all the passers by and horse drawn carriages.
Overall, I'm taking it off my list of places to go in Atlanta.

The food that should have come out hot was cold (cold fries, cold steak, cold crab cakes, cold shrimp and grits) and then ironically the icecream on the dessert was melted. The shrimp and grits were so salty and gross. Had amazing shrimp and grits at a different place. The waiter was indifferent and slow even though we were one of 3 tables there. 20% gratuity added on automatically for poor service and only 6 people. Spent almost 500 dollars on gross food and ok drinks for 6 people. No one enjoyed their meal. Would not recommend.
Went to this restaurant for the first time over the weekend. I ordered the cider chicken and vegetables and really enjoyed my meal. Unfortunately, the ambiance was not as nice as I had hoped for and there were what appeared to be fruit flies buzzing around our table.
I have used the Trrrace Bistro multiple times for business breakfasts. The food is good and the buffet is a good value. My only complaint here is that the coffee is never really hot, but only warm. It is cold by the time you are half-way through the cup. Otherwise, this is a very good buffet in the downtown area. The made-to-order omelettes are very good.
However, the restaurant really needs to work on the device. There seems to be only a skeleton staff and there are periods of time in which no staff are available. It is difficult to get a second cup of coffee or to warm up the first cup. The omelette chef disappears for long periods of time. If the restaurant would work in the service, this Wallis be a great breakfast location for business meetings.
I had the crab cakes and they were delicious! Very nice atmosphere out on the terrace. I was there for a casual business dinner and it was perfect.
Staff was shorthanded, but did a nice job of keeping a good pace. We had a concert to get to, so getting in and out was a priority. Outdoor dining highly recommended. Food was creative but a bit bland.
They offer a decent breakfast buffet that is reasonably priced. It is quiet enough to have a conversation and relatively quick, so it is good for a downtown breakfast meeting -- there really are not very many options. They seem to be understaffed, however, which leads to gaps in the service. Otherwise, a reasonable value for the cost.
I met a business guest who was staying at the hotel for breakfast. The buffet is reasonable and serviceable, as was the omelette from the omelette station. A slightly more expanded cold selection and more bread options would be preferred. Service is OK, but depends on one person. When we came to be seated, he was off getting more coffee and the chef at the omelette station could only tell us to be seated and wait. This delayed our breakfast about five minutes, which was a slight issue for a business breakfast that needed to proceed on schedule. Otherwise, the food quality was good and the remainder of the service was fine. At $15, the buffet is a reasonable value and one of the few reasonable alternatives in the immediate area.
Horrible service. Food was way overpriced. Had to wait way too long for drinks. An hour and half for food. Told afterwards that they didn't have a full staff. Just tell us up front there's only one Cook, we'll go elsewhere.
Outstanding lunch! The grilled turkey & brie sandwich is excellent!
Over all we had a good experience. Only a few issues with the server. She served us unwrapped straws using her hands.
This is a quiet little gem in the middle of bustling downtown Atlanta on a Saturday. I'm not usually for restaurants inside of hotels, but this place is quiet, cute and the wait staff is very attentive. Their cheese plate is divine and I highly recommend them for dinner. They seem to have a sensible lunch menu too, so I plan on visiting for that sometime too!
The bar was out of tonic. It took an hour to get a cocktail and the beef sliders were made with thumb size patties. It was a less than mediocre experience. And as for the 'terrace'...it consisted of only 5 tables. Ambiance inside is the caliber of a Hampton Inn. I'm not recommending.
The food was nothing special but I enjoyed my meal. It was nice to sit outside. The service was a bit slow.
Went for Easter Brunch and was terribly disappointed. We sat outside since the dining area (hardly a dining room) was extremely hot. Asked for coffee - they had to go make it. Asked for silver ware set up - had to go find them ourselves. Brought the coffee and then had to go find some sugar and cream. All this within the first 5 minutes, we should have left then. The buffet was limited, not bread at all (this was brunch, but, no muffins, bread, bagels, or anything). Had to ask for bagels to go with the smoked fish. Waitress had to go find some and then get them toasted. i had to find someone to come make the omelet. Salads looked tired. We left without ordering the entree. Worst dining experience I've had in years - wasted $30/pp
Friends and I were looking for a place for dinner close to the Rialto Theatre - on Feb 13. I have dined many times at the Terrace at Ellis - and made a reservation there. Reviews I read complained about poor service, but we arrived a few minutes late for a 6:30 p dinner, and I told our waiter we needed to be at the Rialto by 7:45. He indicated that would not be a problem, and it was not. Dinner was delicious, the service was really great, and we had a very nice experience once again at the Ellis. I will certainly go back!
We were there for the SEC championship game on the weekend of December 5, 2015. They were totally understaffed and even ran out of some menu items. It took 3 hours for us to get served and eat. The sparse staff they had were unruffled and were very apologetic.
Our reservation was for first thing in the morning. The men who waited on us were kind and helpful, but I believe they were replacements called in at the last second. Our server was winging it the best he could, and the restaurant was not set up for us when we arrived.
It had good reviews so I booked a table for lunch with a colleague. Although it was cold out (40ish), they put us outside on the (all-weather?) porch. It was cold (my colleague kept her coat on the whole meal) and the sun was in my eyes the whole time (there were not any blinds). The food was OK but nothing special. Our waiter was very friendly but not the best waiter. When we left, I noticed that there were open tables inside and was a bit irritated that we were not offered one. I am not from Atlanta but if I go back, I will not go to the Bistro again.
I had a reservation for 10 people for a work lunch. The host was completely disheveled running around when we arrived and the dining room maybe had 3 parties total. He quickly and rudely took us to the wrong table outside to which after I corrected he took us back inside to our reserved table. It was only set for 8 so we had to pull extra seats and squeeze in. This severely altered my dining experience as I was tasked to set up this work lunch for several senior colleagues. The server we had was great and the food was good but then the check took over 15 minutes to come to the table after we were already finished eating. Overall I was expecting a much more professional experience from the Terrace knowing how upscale the Ellis Hotel is, and was disappointed with the service.
Valet parking is five dollars, but it's a small price to pay for brunch buffet perks. Like the omelets and oatmeal. I take my time and take it all in. Very friendly staff and the omelet table is always on point.
We dined at this restaurant during restaurant week eating from their fixed menu. We were seated inside by choice but in close proximity to the bar which was noisy although noone was sitting there. The food was good. The steak I ordered was cooked to my specifications and tasted good. The service was a bit absent. We would go long periods without being attended to by our waiter. The restaurant felt more like a hotel lobby which may be appropriate since it is in the Ellis Hotel. I wI'll not return to this restaurant as there are many better options in the ATL.
Went on a weeknight before a show at the Tabernacle and there were only 2 servers for the entire restaurant. Our waiter was friendly and apologetic, but just wasn't able to handle all the tables. The restaurant simply sat too many parties all at once without the staff to handle everyone. Busboy appeared annoyed when I asked him for another basket of bread and just looked mean. Food was good and well-prepared, though.
We had booked our brunch weeks in advance and invited guests. While the staff were friendly, the dining room was shabby, the food was less than special, and the service was slow. Compared to other restaurants where we have had brunch, this was very uninspired. The brunch was not expensive compared to other restaurants, but the offering was much less varied and tasty. We felt sorry that we had made the wrong choice for brunch and we do not plan to return.
I thought this would be a good experience but boy was i wrong. It was hardly busy yet we had terrible service. We never got napkins because they were "being washed." We had to wait to order food and drinks and even get water. Our server forgot drink orders so that we went to the bar to get our own, then found out she still charged us for the one we never got (the manager did later fix that). The food was mediocre so we left after our 3 appetizers.
From the moment my party of nine walked in, we received bad service. When I said I had a reservation, the host brusquely informed me that we would be sitting outside. He took us to the table, a high top with uncomfortable chairs, but didn't even bring us menus. It took 5 minutes to receive menus, at least 15 minutes to order drinks, over 30 minutes to receive our drinks, and we'd been there 45 minutes before the server took our appetizer/food order (even though I twice informed the server that we were ready to order and wanted apps). We were brought bread and butter, but no plates or silverware. We ordered three appetizers that were barely warm when they arrived and we still had to ask for silverware and plates when the appetizers were brought. Two mixed drinks we received had zero alcohol in them. One of our party waited over 45 minutes to receive his sweet tea, after asking for it multiple times, and never received a single refill. After one of the times we asked about his tea, the server stated they'd run out and had to brew more. When the entrees arrived, they were cold, too. Overall, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, made worse by the fact that we were charged 20% gratuity due to the size of our party, which came out to about $71, which was not the value of service we received. I feel that the server, knowing his tip was automatic, ignored us for other tables. I will never eat at Terrace Bistro again and I will tell all my Atlanta friends to avoid this restaurant.
Flavorful quality food with an emphasis on local and sustainable ingredients. Quiet and pleasant atmoshere with knowledgable and professional servers. I hope they enjoy much success.
