Terra Nova Ratings and Reviews
We were hoping to meet friends and enjoy the Happy Hour menu, but as usual the bar scene was too busy. We think one needs to be waiting at the door during opening to get a seat in the bar area. We tried several times and failed. However, table seating was ample and the meals were excellent as usual. The server was very attentive and accommodating. We eventually enjoyed a 3 hour dining experience.
Left standing by the door for quite awhile, despite having reservations. The Caesar salad, onion soup and Oysters Rockefeller were delicious. There is an upcharge if you order the Caesar instead of the House Salad. The short ribs with rice was tender and delicious, however the two different sauces seemed to clash.
Fun date night with my husband of 24 years! Great place to go pre-theater, if you leave extra time for the wait.
The menu was a pleasant mix of Italian and quality Sushi style cuisine. Our family of 5 enjoyed different varieties on the menu. We were all exceptionally surprised with the level of service and the flavors of our dishes made the evening a wonderful success.
This was our third or fourth visit to Terra Nova and like each of our other dining experiences there, we were not disappointed. The decor is rustic and inviting. The atmosphere is comfortable and cozy. The wait staff pleasant and attentive. The food is fantastic. This was the first time we`d ever tried the sushi and we were glad we did. It was definitely top notch. This is a restaurant we would absolutely recommend trying.
Food was really good. Staff not so much. Well let me say the waitress was petty rude and apparently didn’t like to refill water. The host who sat us walked away towards our table without saying anything like follow me. Pretty sure he didn’t say anything at all after I checked in. The women who cleared our plates was lovely though. Would recommend if you don’t mind being treated like you don’t matter by the majority of the staff.
My new favorite place! Love everything about it. The ambiance, food, and service is excellent. This is the first restaurant that even had the proper ice cubes for different drinks. Now that is attention to detail. So glad we had Jessica as our waitress. Very knowledgeable about the food and she made it a great night for us. We will definitely be back.
I asked them to allow us to linger long over the meal. They completely left us alone and we were there with friends for close to 4 hours. I took good care of the waitress b/c not once during that whole time through a busy dinner shift where she could have turned the table over a couple of times were we rushed or feel hurried by her in any way. Really appreciated the time to connect with dear friends and not feel pushed.
I love this place,iI feel at home here. But they shouldn't seat anyone near the kitchen doors. Those two tables that are situated near the kitchen, should be removed. I've been there twice within the last two weeks, and they tried to sit me and my date near the kitchen. He refused the sitting. The next time I brought my son in for a special occasion. I refused the sitting. Otherwise everything was great..
My wife and I found this little gem one day while looking for somewhere to eat. Ever since we've enjoyed coming here, so when my wife asked where I wanted to go for my birthday, I immediately decided on Terra Nova, and I was not disappointed. My wife's birthday is coming up, and she's already said that she wants to go back.
Our first time in restaurant and dined on a Tuesday with no wait and our server, Hannah, was very attentive. I ordered the crab-stuffed salmon which was excellent; husband ordered scallops with potato hash but when it arrived, the hash was very creamy which was not stated on the menu and so he could not eat it. Server did let him get another veggie in its place with no problem. We tried the sushi which was good, but it was not worth $15. Apparently, they have happy hour times when it is 1/2 price. We have had bigger rolls for less money elsewhere. All in all, we had a nice dinner and will probably return.
I had taken a group of 10 to Terra Nova in June. Everyone loved the food and the service was good. Preparing to organize a subsequent get-together for another group, I felt confident in selecting Terra Nova. It was extremely disappointing that at least some of the entree selections were less than acceptable. The eggplant Parmesan was the oddest version I have ever experienced -- served on long, wide noodles that looked like egg noodles, almost imperceptible cheese, and three slices of eggplant (unbreaded, it appeared) laying on top of the noodles. One of my friends actually asked to see the menu to compare the description of her entree with what she actually got. The service was unprofessional. My wine was handed directly to me instead of being placed in front of me. No bread/butter was served until we asked about it when the entrees arrived. Then we were brought one very small divided saucer with about a tablespoon of butter on one side and about the same of garlic oil on the other. That was for SIX people! It was about the amount that each of us should have gotten. Had to ask for more. The place had very few people seated when we arrived. We were taken to a round table (that part was good) which was pushed back into a corner so that no one could sit at the rear without the table being pulled out. It was also right next to the door to the outside seating, so throughout our meal wait staff were continuously in and out of the door. I ended up. Apologizing to my friends and explaining that it had been great there in June. I very very seldom do surveys, but this one I felt was necessary.
Calamari appetizer was tasteless and undercooked. Lobster bisque was , basically, just bisque.... no lobster. Arugula and BBQ chicken flatbreads were bad... was more like a cracker with toppings. Others in our party enjoyed their sushi. Service was good , however.
Went here for a date night. Sadly, the good food was ruined by poor service and a poor environment. We had a 730p reservation and didn't get to order until 8am. I'm not sure if it was the servers fault, or if she had too much work. One thing I do know is that she was not a happy camper and made us feel like it we were an inconvenience being there. The other problem was that they sat us right near the door that the servers were using to serve people eating outside. One of the customers near the door was smoking the entire time, so every time they opened the door the lovely aroma of nasty cigarette smoke would come on. Sadly there was a table full of kids right next to us that also had to endure this foul odor. I didn't think it was legal for someone to help smoking that close to dining customers, but no one on the serving staff seemed to mind as they kept opening the door and not shutting it all the way. Lastly, the bus boy cleaning the table was piling the plates with so much force you couldn't hear yourself talk it was so noisy. It's moments like this that make you appreciate restaurants that have managers walk around. Unfortunately, there were no signs of anyone that might have been in charge. It's a shame we had such a miserable experience, because the food was good. Maybe we just caught them on a bad night, but we won't be back anytime soon!!
