About Terra Mia
At Terra Mia Restaurant ("my land" in Italian) we carefully prepare our dishes using only the freshest ingredients. Our food is made from scratch, like the trattorias and ristorantes in the South of Italy. We make all efforts to purchase organic and locally grown produce and meats, to preserve the flavor and quality of our dishes. We strongly support the SLOW FOOD movement organization, which began in Italy in 1986. The nature of this group is to protect cultural identities linked to food and traditions. Also, for our customers to "slow down" and learn to enjoy meals while spending quality time with family and loved ones. We are located in the Chardonnay Shopping Center near downtown Livermore and popular wineries. Owned and operated by first generation Italians.

Terra Mia Ratings and Reviews
Terra Mia has been referred to us our Italian friends, so we decided to try it. Dinner was fine. Couldn't find an appetizer or salad that interested us, so skipped that. Decided to share two entrees, the gnocchi gorgonzola and vitello piccata. Both were very good. The veal could have been a bit hotter. Very limited dessert options. My wife had the chocolate carmel ice cream and I passed. The wine was almost exclusively Italian and very expensive. Had a not so good sangiovese. This is in Livermore, what about some local wine?
Really wanted to very much like this place (first time dining there) but the very slow service and extremely loud noise level prevent our doing so. Yes, our waiter did alert us that "the kitchen is really backed up" but there is something fundamentally wrong when an established restaurant this size and so popular can't handle a Saturday night crowd. And the room design is TOTALLY at odds with reducing the loud noise. We don't mind energetic dining but this was way beyond normal tolerance. All of this is just so unfortunate because our waiter was great and the food was excellent --delicious sauces and perfect pasta, piping hot and generous servings. But NOT worth the wait in that atmosphere.
We were seated at our reservation time ordered one drink and calamari receive the calamari halfway through then they brought bread to the table after appetizer we ordered dinner 40 minutes later we got our dinner vegetables raw potatoes were raw the waiter never once checked in on us our whole time they’re terrible service
Dinner was fine but service seemed to be lacking. We never did receive any predinner bread. Starter was slow to arrive for two people (how difficult is garlic bread?). The waiter seemed to want to rush us out. Asked if we wanted desert before we finished our meal (pastry chef wanted to leave), then came back to retrieve the signed cc receipt and made some comment that he wanted to close out his paperwork so he could leave.
The decor is very nice. The food was wonderful. It could not have been better. Two teeny tiny complains, the main dinning area is extremely noisy and our waitress was in training. She was nice and attentive but she knew absolutely nothing about alcohol or how to pour wine. So, she was not perfect. Her "trainor" was very good. The puppet singing Happy Birthday made the evening.
We went to Terra Mia to celebrate a family birthday. Our server, Sean, was attentive and friendly. His wine recommendations were spot on. The home made pasta dishes and prime rib were tasty and well prepared. We loved our evening there, and it was a special meal fora special occasion.
If you love Italian food and atmosphere you will love Tera Mia. Always a great meal and never rushed out. From the people at the front to the people clearing the tables, everyone is friendly! Most waiters speak Italian which makes it even more authentic. If your not sure on what to have, the waiters are very good at helping you out! Being full blooded Italian, it's like being with family and friends while you have your dinner. If you celebrate your birthday there, you will be sung to in Italian by the staff!
Service was good. Table for 2 was too small. Bruschetta was incomplete, dry, no basil, couldn't see or taste any olive oil (chopped tomato and garlic on bread). The mixed seafood entrée was over cooked, rubbery shrimp. Tortellini was just OK. On the opposite end of continuum from Il Fornaio. Sorry, not worth the drive.
Our food was delicious as always. I entered the reservation about 20 minutes before we arrived & notated it was a special occasion “24 year wedding anniversary”. A bit disappointed nothing was said even during the dessert course of which we all ordered an item. The same thing happened during the last two birthdays for my husband. Not sure if OpenTable comments aren’t displayed for the restaurant or if they ignore.
Terra Mia is always a good spot to go before or after a show or after a day in the vineyards. The staff is always great (especially Manuel). The food is authentic and wonderful. Don't be fooled by it's location in a strip mall. It's a very different atmosphere inside.
We chose Livermore as a midway spot for us (coming from Oakland) to meet a friend coming from Manteca, and Terra Mia seemed one of the best restaurant options for lunch. It didn't disappoint: the food was great, and truly fresh, and our server was super friendly. The only area for improvement was the time it took our food to come out: all told, it was the better part of an hour between the time we sat down and the time we got our entrees, which seemed like a long time, especially given that the restaurant wasn't nearly full. But we weren't in a hurry, and it was worth the wait.
We had dinner outside, a bit quieter. Inside is impossible for conversation due to the noise level. As usual, food was great. My fav: Rollini Giovanni: paper think sheet pasta rolled with eggplant, ham, smoked mozzarella in a creamy tomato sauce. Great service.
We have not been to Terra Mia in quite a while so we were pleasantly surprised to find out one of the owners was a waiter we had at an Italian restaurant in Fremont. The food was very good as well as the service. We will make it a point to go there more often, especially for authentic Italian food.
Terra Mia is one of the best restaurants in Livermore. In my opinion it is better than any of the restaurants along main street Livermore. The veal is excellent. The specials are always different and good. They have a good, inexpensive selection of Italian wines among the local varieties.
The location is several miles from downtown which makes it easier to park.
