About Terra Mia
At Terra Mia Restaurant ("my land" in Italian) we carefully prepare our dishes using only the freshest ingredients. Our food is made from scratch, like the trattorias and ristorantes in the South of Italy. We make all efforts to purchase organic and locally grown produce and meats, to preserve the flavor and quality of our dishes. We strongly support the SLOW FOOD movement organization, which began in Italy in 1986. The nature of this group is to protect cultural identities linked to food and traditions. Also, for our customers to "slow down" and learn to enjoy meals while spending quality time with family and loved ones. We are located in the Chardonnay Shopping Center near downtown Livermore and popular wineries. Owned and operated by first generation Italians.

Terra Mia Ratings and Reviews
We went two years ago and it was wonderful the Gnocchi was like soft little pillows. This time the Gnocchi was like frocks, the polenta e fungi was horrible, the linguine pesto was awful. The only good items were the bruschetta and the lobster bisque. We were at a table of five and as there was four of us after about 45 minutes I had to ask the bus person to remove the service for the fifth person. Our server had so much cologne we had to hold a breath. It is way to bad as this used to be a good place to go.
Went there for New Year's Eve, so it was crowded. We were first seated at a two-top table very close to another table. so we requested another table and were moved to a corner four-top - much more comfortable. The food and service were outstanding. Thank you for a memorable evening.
I took my wife here for her birthday. This was our first time here at Terra Mia. We walked in and was seated next to a large fire place that was burning. It was freezing outside so the warmth from the fire was great. Our server named "Sean" was the best!!!
Sean gave world class customer service and was always on top of everything. Sean made us laugh and knew in detail how everything was cooked and placed on the plate. We had questions about the food and what wines go best with pasta or gravy (red sauce). Sean was very helpful and made sure our time there was special.
Our food was great! We both took a bite and expected our food to taste like normal Italian food but we were shocked when it tasted like our old favorite restaurant "Cesars" in San Francisco, CA (unfortunately Cesars closed down after 80 years of being open).
From this moment we both knew this place was authentic Italian and knew we just found a gem. We both are looking foward to going back again and would like to thank Sean again for making our time there special.
We visit Terra Mia about once a month - the food is good and the prices are a bit high but fair. This visit on Dec 14, we were a party of 5 with reservations. The restaurant was very busy, our waiter mentioned that they were steady then everyone showed up at once! It was loud. Service was a bit on the slow side, given the situation. Bar service was very slow, and I wanted to have my glass of wine with my meal and it showed up about mid-dinner. I think they were just overwhelmed with everyone getting there at once. Food came out a few minutes later than normal, but was very good! Our reservation was for 6:15 and we were seated about 6:25. I will go back.
This wasn’t our first time dining.. the service is not so great. They take away your plate even before you were done. They rush and rush you. We had to literally grab the guys plate from taking away from us. It’s like they want us to be done immediately and leave. The food comes out quick so that’s a plus.
While the restaurant was not full, it had a good "hum" of people having good times together. Our threesome was a spontaneous need to eat out for a friends visit...He was thouroughly delighted with our experience, with the food, and waiter and was happy to pick up the tab...The next day he remarked that it was one of the most enjoyable meals in recent memory and was coming back for the calamari which he had not had this time.... We also tried a cordial after and one none of us had heard of nor tasted: Strega.... Incredible flavors. Great Evening.
Terra Mia has been referred to us our Italian friends, so we decided to try it. Dinner was fine. Couldn't find an appetizer or salad that interested us, so skipped that. Decided to share two entrees, the gnocchi gorgonzola and vitello piccata. Both were very good. The veal could have been a bit hotter. Very limited dessert options. My wife had the chocolate carmel ice cream and I passed. The wine was almost exclusively Italian and very expensive. Had a not so good sangiovese. This is in Livermore, what about some local wine?
Really wanted to very much like this place (first time dining there) but the very slow service and extremely loud noise level prevent our doing so. Yes, our waiter did alert us that "the kitchen is really backed up" but there is something fundamentally wrong when an established restaurant this size and so popular can't handle a Saturday night crowd. And the room design is TOTALLY at odds with reducing the loud noise. We don't mind energetic dining but this was way beyond normal tolerance. All of this is just so unfortunate because our waiter was great and the food was excellent --delicious sauces and perfect pasta, piping hot and generous servings. But NOT worth the wait in that atmosphere.
We were seated at our reservation time ordered one drink and calamari receive the calamari halfway through then they brought bread to the table after appetizer we ordered dinner 40 minutes later we got our dinner vegetables raw potatoes were raw the waiter never once checked in on us our whole time they’re terrible service
Dinner was fine but service seemed to be lacking. We never did receive any predinner bread. Starter was slow to arrive for two people (how difficult is garlic bread?). The waiter seemed to want to rush us out. Asked if we wanted desert before we finished our meal (pastry chef wanted to leave), then came back to retrieve the signed cc receipt and made some comment that he wanted to close out his paperwork so he could leave.
The decor is very nice. The food was wonderful. It could not have been better. Two teeny tiny complains, the main dinning area is extremely noisy and our waitress was in training. She was nice and attentive but she knew absolutely nothing about alcohol or how to pour wine. So, she was not perfect. Her "trainor" was very good. The puppet singing Happy Birthday made the evening.
We went to Terra Mia to celebrate a family birthday. Our server, Sean, was attentive and friendly. His wine recommendations were spot on. The home made pasta dishes and prime rib were tasty and well prepared. We loved our evening there, and it was a special meal fora special occasion.
If you love Italian food and atmosphere you will love Tera Mia. Always a great meal and never rushed out. From the people at the front to the people clearing the tables, everyone is friendly! Most waiters speak Italian which makes it even more authentic. If your not sure on what to have, the waiters are very good at helping you out! Being full blooded Italian, it's like being with family and friends while you have your dinner. If you celebrate your birthday there, you will be sung to in Italian by the staff!
