Unfortunately never got to go to the restaurant. It had closed down as of the previous Monday.
Too bad, Montreal has lost another good eatery.
Excellent service with good food and ambiance, classic!
The waitress was wonderful ...funny and considerate
This is our second year celebrating New Year's Day with another couple at Terra Mare Restaurant.
We really enjoyed our meal. The food and the service were great.
One downfall was the presence of pieces of a broken wine glass on our table.
We mentioned it to our waitress who quickly removed one large piece. One other piece was found during the meal after one guest had a minor cut on one hand. Again the waitress was called and the piece removed but we could still see pin size pieces of glass still on the table.
Maybe a better cleanup should have been done before seating guests.
Consistently good value for your money.., managed and catered by people that care very much about the quality of what they serve and the quality of their clients' experience.., and they've been doing this for 40 years.., doesn't get much better!
So consistently reliable and excellent value for your money.., on of - if not the - most outstanding quality restaurants on the west island. We'll be back very soon!
The restaurant set-up a table for 8 of us. The restaurant was very quiet and we were able to hear each other speak. The menu had an excellent selection of seafood and steak and the food was delicious. Our waiter made our evening as he was very helpful and had a great sense of humour. We would return to the restaurant again and would recommend it to our friends.
Very much enjoyed my meal... The Oyster Rockefeller was so so, but other than that everything was excellent! My mother had a 2-pound lobster as was very well done... I had the Fisherman's Platter in was excellent as well.
Service was great, food was excellent and a very good value.
Wonderful service, with attention to details. Spectacular food and presentation.
My husband made reservations for out 29th wedding anniversary. It was great. Debbie was our waitress. I love the sea bass. I had the last one! It was delicious..as usual! My husband had the surf and turf. ..excellent! Later, they brought us a piece of "anniversary"cake to share...delicious! (My husband wrote when he made the reservations that we were celebrating our anniversary!) They even sang to us! It was all in all a great experience! HOWEVER, we were told that the sea bass is expensive and hard to get. It's my favorite! I hope they keep it on the menu.
The food was exceptional. We were all impressed with the quality and taste of the good. At first I thought that the service was slow, but the waiter, John, turned out to be a great waiter. He was very friendly and helpful with the menu and wine list.
I will be going back again.
Have been going for many years. Food is usually great however this last time the scampi were a bit off (chewy) and some of the rack of lamb was a little tough. Only realized once I got home that I was charged for a peach Melba which was part of my table d'hote menu. I didn't check my bill at the restaurant because I trusted them......, my bad. Will definitely go back at least once more as the disappointment this time may have just been a rare slightly off night.
It has been a few years between visits, but I am pleased to say this restaurant is just as good as in the past. Strongly recommended.
Great neighbourhood restaurant. Wonderfully varied menu, fish, seafoods and meat. Consistently delicious.
TERRIFIC EXPERIENCE> PLANNING FOR REGULAR festivities at TERRA MADRE
Great food and service. Have been a repeat patron of this establishment and have never been disappointed.
Took my wife out for dinner at our favourite dining facility. What a surprise when we unexpectedly met up with our friends who turned out to have the same idea.
We all had an excellent and continuing experience. Terra Marre has not lost its excellent reputation for quality fine dining with an very excellent staff to boot. It is truly a family run establishment giving attention to details. Love the place.
This restaurant was recommended to us by people who enjoy good dining, we were not disappointed, Rose was our waitress and she gave us very good service. We will be back!
Great resto for a special occasion...staff was attentive, once we were finally seated. Was busy but not too busy. I enjoyed the evening there overall.
A relaxing old-fashioned place that looks like it was time warped out of the 70s. Food and service are good. A bit pricey. Overall a good choice in the West Island if you don't want a chain restaurant or don't want to drive into downtown.
The food was absolutely delicious- worth every penny!! Great place for a quiet meal. The table d'hote menu has a nice variety of options and the portions were generous. Our server was very knowledgeable and attentive without being pushy. I recommend the Cajun shrimp and the clam chowder!
Chose this restaurant again, after we had such a fine experience last year on our anniversary. For our 50th anniversary this year we had to go back. And again were not disappointed. The food was great - the Filet Mignon Flambe was over the top...vegetables were done to perfection as was the baked potato.
My wife had Surf'n'Turf, with Scampi substituted for the shrimp. Both were , in her words, to die for. Her Cajun Shrimp entree, again in her words, was wonderful.
The crowning glory...dessert which with forks for two with " Happy Anniversary" written around the outside.
Service was attentive.
Will we be back? You can believe it.
Fantastic service and food
We have known about Terra Mare for several years and had not visited. We decided to go for a birthday celebration and were very pleasantly impressed. The quality and presentation of the dishes was outstanding. Our waitress Rose was outstanding and with her knowledge and attentiveness added considerably to our experience. We will definitely be returning when we are in the west island area of Montreal.
Disappointed this time. Shrimp had a funny aftertaste and the sauce was bland. Escargot was very good. Blackened salmon was charred but not spicy or tasty, in fact it was dried out. Seafood fettuccine had a sauce with excessive parsley, clams were chewy, rest of the seafood was good, as were the noodles. Service was excellent, and we enjoyed the bell ringing to mark birthdays and anniversaries.
The hostess and waitress were very attentive and helpful, especially towards my mother-in-law who has reduced mobility (and a walker); much appreciated.
Old fashioned family owned restaurant where they seem to know everyone and have regulars who have been going there for decades. Good food, great service. Great choice in the W Island
We enjoyed a birthday dinner with family and friends at Terra Mare and I can't say enough how top notch the service was! From booking the reservation, to decorating ahead of time, to the impeccable dinner service, the experience was amazing. The food was prepared to perfection. We especially enjoyed the lamb shank and the cod. All our guests expect to return very soon! 'Highly recommend Terra Mare
Recommended to us by a friend who is a chef here in Montreal. Exceeded expectations in all areas. Will definitely eat here again.
Nice neighbourhood restaurant with constantly good food. Always a good choice.
Food was good but nothing to wow. Was missing a little something.
Relaxed friendly atmosphere. Menu has something for everyone. Especially enjoyed the cod with matane shrimp
Although a bit pricey the quality of the food is worth every penny. You feel welcomed by the staff who are very friendly, helpful and courteous. The French onion soup is delicious and the sea food platter is really very good.
Perfectly fine casual dining. Good wine. Pleasant service. Reasonable prices.
Great discovery, it was our first time and we would recommend this restaurant for seafood lovers that want a nice, cozy restaurants that is not over the top glam.
the food was delicious, the service was very good and friendly.
The portion sizes were good.
It was quite and you were not rushed.
