Terra Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We had a great meal! The parsnip soup and terra tots are a highlight. Andy our waiter was fun and very helpful with navigating the menu. We showed up early for our reservation and the gentleman at the front accommodated us. Overall a great dining experience! Ask to sit near the fire in their front room.
Terra Bistro has been on my list of restaurants to visit each year for several years when I make my yearly trip to Vail. I keep thinking that one of these days it will disappoint me, but so far, that hasn't happened!
The food was excellent, fresh, creative and, once again, good enough that Terra Bistro will be on my list of destinations next year. The bar was cozy with attentive service and friendly bartenders. The ambiance is warm and inviting. Service was excellent. It remains one of my favorite restaurant destinations in Vail Village -- an easy walk from the Vail Village hotels.
The overall ambiance, the service and the quality of the food were excellent to a point that we returned for a second evening during our week skiing at Vail. The beef wraps appetizer was unique and fun to share . Our main entrees also were excellent. The bottles of wine available were expensive but it is Vail and unfortunately really marking up wine is pretty standard for the town. Definitely a keeper restaurant.
We always make it a point to dine at Terra Bistro when we visit Vail to ski. Food is top notch and service is excellent without being stuffy. My dinner entree was as good as i've had at a restaurant with a Michelin star in Chicago. Not inexpensive but you get what you pay for.
My husband and I chose Terra Bistro for a vacation date-night while visiting Vail in February 2018. The experience was phenomenal from start to finish. Reservations ere simple to acquire, as this restaurant utilizes OpenTable. A friendly Rep from Terra called me 24 hours in advance to confirm our reservation. We were greeted at the door by a warm, friendly face. We were seated at a perfect, romantic spot by the window, overlooking all the happenings in Vail Village. Me enjoyed a selection of small plate appetizers to begin, including the Salmon patty, scallops and duck fat fries. The duck fat fries were a wonderful treat! My husband enjoyed the pork chop, while I devoured the popcorn, pine nut trout. The white fish was light and flaky, yet full of flavor. Perfectly paired with the seasonal, cauliflower hash and a drizzle of lemon aoli to finish. We concluded our meal with the Creme Brulee, and let me just say...it was to DIE for! The friendly and accommodating Manager on Duty, Katie was attentive to our needs and seemed invested in providing us with the ultimate dining experience for our special date night. We left feeling nourished and satisfied. We will definitely return to Terra, and will be sure to do so when Katie is managing. She made sure we were well taken care of.
Salmon cake, beef lettuce wraps, parsnip/cashew soup all decent, truffle risotto excellent, squash ravioli with duck outstanding. Interesting art, ambiance/comfort needs work, service friendly but not topnotch. Located inside Vail Mountain Lodge at the edge of the village.
Interesting menu options included the square tater tots with tuna, which were not bad but different. I was really excited for my entree until it arrived with a piece of plastic in it. The service recovery was prompt, which I appreciated. The overall service was sluggish though. For the price and on a Sunday night, this wasn't the slam dunk we were expecting.
We visit Terra Bistro every time we are in Vail. We consistently have an amazing meal and great service. The menu has varied options with creative twists.. The service was outstanding. Tony was great as always. He sat us at a perfect date table. Terra Bistro is a must!
After we got seated a group of 8 (who acted like they were in their man cave in their basement) arrived and created an unbearable volume of hollering, laughing, nd generally carrying on.
The Bistro staff handled the matter with concern and grace. They quickly moved us to the large dining room where the noise level is acceptable.
I hope other restauranteurs learn how to defuse this all too common incident.
Expected more from this place based on reviews. We sampled apps and light plates because we weren't hungry enough for a full meal and we wanted to sample what looked good on the menu. Spicy beef lettuce wraps - meat was tough and chewy. Thai beef broth - was presented luke warm, had to ask to have it reheated. Shitake Ramen was good. Flat bread had been sitting under a heat lamp forever. Service was good, our waiter tried to be helpful but can overcome what the kitchen gives to him. I won't return.
We had a very pleasant evening with friends at Terra Bistro, particularly because we were seated in the back in a quiet part of the restaurant. Our server was excellent and most of the dishes were good. My curry was tasty but my husband’s pork chop was somewhat tough. The other diners enjoyed their dishes and the sea salt caramel ice cream was delicious!
We have dined here off and on over the years since (maybe ?) 1981. It’s a lovely restaurant. The menu had been updated and maybe not quite as eclectic as it was some years ago. The wait staff was very attentive but not intrusive. The food quality was excellent and portion size satisfying. I love that they are on open table which makes reservations so easy!
We were trying to sample restaurants new to us on our Vail holiday. Terra got good ratings so we gave it a shot.
The ambiance is just OK. I suppose part of the reason is that it’s located in a condo building, so entering is like entering a condo lobby.
The menu is well rounded. The food was fine but we felt the chef was a little too cute, for example, square tater tots accompanying ahi tuna. Unfortunately, the sautéed Aisian veggies, that also came with the tuna, were a little bit burned. My partner had a trout dish which sported some sort of breading; he found it tasty but it was too heavy for me. The chocolate cake dessert was adequate but a bit dry. The portions are large and the service was good.
The prices are higher than we pay at home (Philadelphia) in some much finer restaurants— I guess this is “resort pricing.” Overall, we were not very impressed.
