Relaxed atmosphere, decent food, this was the perfect place for a Sunday night get-together with friends.
Perfect choice for lovely dinner and wine before book event at Politics & Prose. Relaxed and timely service. Fresh spring specials.
We want to do it again soon👌
Excellent food in a casual environment. French standards like crepes
Very good food. Service a little slow, seemed to be short on staff.
Food was very good. Everything we had, from the Onion Soup, day's special Endive Salad, the beef stew, steak and Pasta special of the day were all excellent.
Service reminded us of a Paris bistro - slow. It's nice if you want to enjoy you dinner, since they didn't rush at all, yet at the same time, could have been more attentive. guess you need to find that sweet spot :)
Overall - Great Value!
Disappointing... the lunch menu is basic and not creative; the food bland, but the service was OK and conversation was easy (a big plus). But to have a $12-14 sandwich or salad, I would rather stay home and cook, or go to a good take-out. Will not return... desolee!
After my previous meal, I decided not to return. Everything that could be bad was. But, a friend wanted to eat there. So, I gave in and revisited. Yesterday's meal was tasty, as well as the service. If going for lunch and driving, I suggest you go early to take advantage of easy street parking.
I do love this restaurant. Great service and usually very good food. I must confess, though, the quiche this time was not up to its usual standard. It was only luke warm and the crust was entirely soggy. For the 1st time I didn't eat it with gusto -- in fact I didn't even finish it. I hope this was just an unusual fluke, as normally the quiche is hot, tasty, and with a very nice crust.
Food was mixed. $8 red Bordeaux wine was excellent - much better than most wine you get by the glass and better than plenty of more expensive bottles I have had many places.
My friend's fish was okay and my fruit with creme anglais was awful. My risotto was quite good. Waiter was very helpful at first, but couldn't get hold of him to get fresh ground pepper for my risotto. Everyone I know who has been there has loved it, but I doubt I will go back. La Piquette which is not all that far away just off Wisconsin Avenue is way way better. Not in the same category.
Another good meal at Terasol. This time, we needed a good place to talk for a couple of hours while enjoying sandwiches and coffee. Terasol did not disappoint. From soup to sandwiches to full-blown entrees, this place is a neighborhood gem.
We enjoyed a delicious brunch: perfectly cooked omelet wrapped around salmon and caramelized onions and, for my wife, crab salad on salad greens. Everything was fresh, simply prepared, and tasty. Try it and enjoy!
The servers were so friendly, responsive and attentive without going overboard. Food were excellent. The baguette was excellent and authentic. Good wine list, great authentic French meal. Lamb stew and filet, duck confit salad. Candle on the birthday brulee. Perfect.
Great spot. Have been coming here for years and plan to keep doing so!
Great place to get together with friends for lunch - the food is always yummy and you can cross the street and get a good read at Politics & Prose afterwards!
Our Terasol experience was good except that we felt rushed through our meal. Food brought out quickly could mean good service, but we were not ready for each course. To eat that much food we would like some space between courses. The result was a quick dinner and a lump in our stomachs afterwards. Not the romantic mood we wanted to leave Terasol with.
We were not amused by the $59 price fixed menu for which we had no advanced warning. While we could have left, getting a slot at another restaurant on Valentine's Day would have been next to impossible. With two glasses of wine, and 15% gratuity, our bill was almost $180 for just two people. Epic fail for a simple neighborhood place.
Everything I have ever had at Terasol was delicious. Their Nicoise salad was the best I have ever had. We also had the crab salad and French toast - an amazing brunch.
The food was very good and it was reasonably priced. I took away a star because my moms order was wrong (she received fries instead of the side salad she asked for) and it took pretty long to receive our check once we asked for it. Regardless, I would still go back.
The food and service at Terasol can't be beat! Today we met a friend for lunch there, and we enjoyed scrumptious salads. The food is always inventive and tasty, and the service is attentive but not intrusive. A big benefit is the quiet, bistro-like atmosphere, conducive to good conversation. We love to meet friends here, and to linger over lunch, coffee, crepes, or whatever suits our fancy. We encourage you to support not only the food part of Terasol but the section that sells local crafts -- high-quality, beautiful items that make great gifts.
My husband and I had been wanting to eat here but we kept missing it - finally made it last weekend for lunch - the onion soup & lunch was great as well as the general atmosphere - great place!
I previously lived in France and view Terasol as very authentic french food. It's not fussy Americanized French food, and the prices are very reasonable. It's the type of French bistro you find in nearly every town in France.
A neighborhood favorite.....excellent food with terrific attention to detail in preparation and authenticity. Wait staff is lovely and helpful. Menu variety is quite good for pescatarians.
Really lovely meal and intimate dining environment.
A friendly neighborhood place with great food. The service is great. I have always been happy with the meals here.
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant run by a wonderful family
So many reasons to return again and again to Terasol, not the least of which is to show support for the owners and staff after they endured death threats from the Pizzagate (Comet Ping Pong) mess (when a gunman from North Carolina burst into Comet Ping Pong restaurant across the street, in search of supposed tunnels in which false rumors said children were being held -- sheesh!). The food here is wonderful: fresh, inventively prepared, and in a quiet, bistro setting. We eat here a lot, and we've never been disappointed. Come here to enjoy the food, talk with friends, and support a great neighborhood restaurant!
Terasol is a neighborhood gem! The food is delicious, the ambiance mellow, and there is not an ounce of pretentiousness that so many upscale restaurants in DC have. I highly recommend coming here!
My second visit -- the food again was terrific and far closer to authentic French food than the more fancy Washingtonian restaurants. But this time, the service just disappeared after the dessert menus were brought to the table. Eventually resorted to flagging down what appeared to have been a proprietor/manager to place our order and to get the water refiled. Hope this problem is corrected -- does detract from what would have been a near perfect meal.
Always love going to Terasol!
French onion soup was a little watery. Otherwise, all good
Dinner exceeded my expectations. The deviled eggs were delicious. I enjoyed my lamb shank and my dining companion enjoyed her mussels. A nice neighborhood dining spot!
Even on a busy day, Terasol's kitchen can be relied on to turn out delicious dishes. It's my favorite in the neighborhood and always a delight.
Very satisfying bistro dishes: tender, tasty and sauced with a hint of Paris
Always a delight!!! Terasol never fails to amaze me. With delicious food and convivial atmosphere, I believe I am in Paris, beautiful Paris, until I step outside and see that I'm on Connecticut Ave. NW DC. Thank you, Terasol, for my birthday dinner!!! (You didn't know that it was, and that was fine)
A delightful restaurant-always friendly and accommodating staff, food is delicious-the BEST French onion soup. We are so lucky to have you in the neighborhood!
Unacceptable service. I knew it would be slow but didn't expect it to be as slow as it was. Our server was terrible, plus twice a different server came to our table to deliver food that we didn't order. Seemed as if he no prior experience as a server. He came to the table and addressed my guest, who ordered a drink. He, totally, ignored me. So, I finally got his attention after he served the other diner and ordered a drink.
The lentil "salad" was a warm lentil soup covered with arugula. I expected the lentils to be room temperature, especially, because lentil "soup" was also on the menu, which I didn't order.
I was so embarrassed by the experience (I've dined there at least 6 times) for my first-time guest and had to apologize for taking her to Terasol.
A friend and I went for our first time on a Saturday evening to show support after the recent "Pizza-gate" unpleasantness. We were astounded to find that despite the full house, the noise level was tolerable. Service was good enough, if a bit harried, and always pleasant. The kitchen turns out correct versions of French bistro standards--a nicely crisp-crusted tarte à l'oignon and a lamb stew with a fairly generous portion of meat, my friend's bavette tasty and appropriately chewy--and the rhythm of the courses was also correct. I found the chocolate mousse on the sweet side, however. Reasonably priced if short (maybe a dozen reds) wine list. Still, a civilized evening among adults in Chevy Chase DC, and I intend to return.
This is a neighborhood gem, in an area with several good choices. Somehow, this restaurant stands out time and again. This may be because the owners appear to put their heart and soul into every dish. They were stretched to the limit on Saturday night when the neighbors came out in full force. Our dinner was excellent. When the chef-owner is in the kitchen, there is no better spot for dinner in this part of DC. Despite the large crowds Terasol still made us feel like it was our neighborhood restaurant.
my first time at Terasol but fell in love in the place
Terasol never disappoints food-wise, but the service is always slow. It was especially slow this evening as the neighbors were out supporting it in the wake of threats Terasol had received related to the situation with COmet Ping Pong. SO it was slow for a good reason, but as I said, the food was good. I'm always impressed with their lentil soup.
