Tequila's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We had a wonderful evening and dinner was delicious. The wait staff was very attentive and was able to answer any of our questions about the differences in the Tequila margarita’s to the entrees. The guacamole with crabmeat and pineapple was very interesting , I wish it came in the bigger lava bowl I could make a meal out of that.
It’s a popular place so I’m glad we made reservations.
The space is really nice, though pretty loud at dinner and on top of your neighbors. The bar, at happy hour especially, is fantastic. Great tequila drinks, good prices. Lively atmosphere. Dinner was very good, though my skirt steak was slightly overdone. The service was friendly and efficient—though perhaps too efficient as our server failed to ask us or offer dessert. A very good experience that just missed out on excellent.
nice staff although could be better, the atmosphere is nice in most places in the restaurant (in some places its shabby), the banana cake was very good
room temperature chewy flavorless stake, not so fresh salad, seasonings on food felt weird / forced (no love), the flan was not very good, room temp at 65 degrees, $170 for two
While the food was good, I felt they should have a variety of mid-price range dishes to choose from. Maybe lunch might have that option. You basically have the option of a $30 plate. Decided to go with one of the steak dishes and a little disappointed the medium rare steak we ordered was over cooked. Flavor was great but I think a steak should be eaten with some pink in the middle. Our server and the host were very friendly and the restaurant has a great vibe. I might enjoy it more for appetizer's and drinks in the bar area.
We really enjoyed how Tequila's updates Mexican standards and also has very inventive dishes. The bar menu went way beyond margaritas, but those were great, too. The Mexican Old Fashioned was a standout. Their salsas were very fresh, with just the right seasonings. I loved their raw oysters with chipotle sauce, cilantro, and avocado--you will forget you ever liked them with cocktail sauce! The fish with garlic sauce was light and flavorful, and they actually serve vegetables here (unlike a lot of Mexican restaurants). My husband and son enjoyed the tortilla soup with chicken (although it was a little heavy on the tortillas) and chicken dishes. The flan was nothing special, but the tres leches cake was a great way to end the meal. Oh, and our waiter was excellent with bar and food service.
Decided to try this place at the last minute. It was a weeknight but we decided to request a reservation. Wasn’t necessary! I would think a weekend would be very busy, however. We were greeted graciously and seated right away. Lovely artwork and architectural features. The food was delicious! A little on the pricey side; most entrees were $25+. Comparable pricing for the area. They were very happy to accommodate a gluten free diet with many options.
My husband and I went for his birthday and we were both pleasantly surprised. The service was great, the staff was attentive from the time we walked in to be seated until we left for the evening. The food was great and the waiter was able to tell us about the specials for the night that were not on the menu that we both chose one of the selections he offered that were not on the menu. I informed the waiter it was my husband's birthday and I wanted him to have a shot.
When the waiter brought the shot, he politely gave it to my husband along with a slice of dessert and singing from the staff. We both totally enjoyed our dining experience!
The front room with the bar is beautiful, but the back room - where most of the tables are - is plain, utilitarian and noisy. Food is carefully prepared and high quality though not venturing far beyond the usual dishes, and on the expensive side. Bar offerings are a highlight; superb collection of mezclas and tequilas and unique cocktails.
We were at Tequila's during restaurant week on a Wednesday night. They had a good crowd, but the service was efficient and attentive, but not obtrusively so. The waiter was very knowledgeable about tequilas, as one would expect given the name, but i have become accustomed to wait staff who know nothing about their product. His discussion about tequila additives in mainstream products was correct and informative; I don't think I'll ever drink a Patron/Sauza/Cuervo, hangover inducing product again. The food was authentic and excellent. My only challenge is talking my wife into repeated visits, as her tastes for authentic Mexican food are more limited. However, the atmosphere got her, so I'll get my hopes up!
We both really enjoyed the the ambiance of Tequilas, especially the front room which had all of the original woodwork of the historic building in which it is located. The cocktails were delicious, especially the Rose Margarita and the Short Rib (a spicy/sweet tequila cocktail), and our waiter was delightful. We went for restaurant week to get a feel for their menu and it was good but not great - my favorites were the ceviche and the tres leches cake. I would definitely return for drinks and happy hour.
