Waiter did not bring starter and when entrees were delivered he said he could still bring it. We declined. This did remain on our bill however. After telling the waiter he said he would adjust the check, but brought another unaltered bill. Third bill was correct.
Wife's platter was not as on menu - no plantains or wrapped in banana leaves? After dinner when we asked the waiter about the plantains missing he said that he thought it was odd. He sent us home with plantains. And interesting that the waiter never checked on us after our meals were served. Also, many items people were ordering were not on the menu. Guacamole and sangria were not listed - possibly our fault for not asking?
Also listed on OpenTable that this was a birthday but no recognition. I expected though as the waiter was fairly miserable the entire time.
We have had good experiences here at the bar but on a Saturday night this was not good. We will not return for dinner here. Its a shame because Jaime at the bar is terrific.
Mother’s Day lunch we thought it was very good my husband thought we waited too long for queso and it came out with his tortilla soup instead of before his soup he also thought his soup was lukewarm instead of hot all in all it was a great experience and great food we will be back and recommend it to others
The food was wonderful. Everything we ate had a terrific combination of big flavor and subtle flavor, the presentation and the execution were really great. Service was also great, responsive but not too much. The noise level on a Saturday night was energetic. Lots of gluten free options. I recommend highly!
Authentic Mexican cuisine, extensive selection of Tequilas, Mezcals, and Agave spirits, and attentive thoughtful service. The best! Can’t wait to get back!!
The food here never disappoints and the service is always wonderful!
I’d had drinks at the bar before but hadn’t eaten anything off the menu. The food turned out to be extremely tasty, and our waiter was on it and timely. The options appear to be authentic Mexican dishes rather than street tacos (what you mostly find in Philly at Mexican restaurants). It was a bit pricy and the inside of the restaurant could use some work (why is there carpet still?, and very dim lighting) but I’d definitely go back for the delicious food, strong drinks, and quick service.
Food, drinks, and service was great. The only negative was the noise volume-painful at times!!
Excellent in very way. The well informed and professional server made the evening.
Amazing service and amazing food! Be aware the dishes can be very spicy even if they don’t say it on the menu.
We got there around lunch time at it was odd because it was almost vacant. It gave off some weird vibes at first. Other than that, the food was good, however I wish the portions were a little bigger. We got margaritas which was also great.
Overpriced and not authentic Mexican food. More like a Philadelphia version of Mexican food.
My new favorite! Incredible food of the highest quality, traditional gourmet Mexican at a good value. But, the absolute best part is the tequila list, and their knowledge of the tequila craft. Truly an artisan experience.
our waiter! the one that balanced all of the drinks on his head
Cinco De Mayo
You do not need a special reason to dine here.
Our family has been dining here since the restaurant opened.
In 30 years we never have had a bad meal, nor bad service. Food great Staff great, beautiful location.
Can’t go wrong with Tequila’s. -
Ps try some of the house Teguila, Siembre Azul it’s great. !
Overall, good experience supported by very attentive and friendly service. The cocktail menu is fantastic. The food, I would have to say mostly average. Langostino a bit over cooked and guacamole bland and mushy. Main entrees were overall enjoyable with some unique flavors but the end price tag made them hard to swallow.
We were here for Cinco de Mayo. The food was fantastic. Super high quality. Mixology was also fabulous though we were overwhelmed by the number of tequilas to choose from and our waiter wasn’t really helpful (his English, our Spanish).
It was extremely loud but it was Cinco de Mayo and people were partying pretty hard around us.
Would definitely go back often if we lived in Philly.
Our first visit there and it was a great experience. The environment was great as it was the night before Cinco de Mayo. Our waiter was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable. Food was authentic, drinks were outstanding and unique... using Mezcal and tequila in an Old Fashioned?! Service from entire staff was wonderful all night, very attentive.
Highly recommended for a night out in the city.
And has been for 15 years +/-.
Pretty amazing that they keep the quality of the food, service, and ambiance at such a high level for that long.
Food was great and service was attentive. We had a wonderful time
Great restaurant. Great food. The noise level, though was pretty loud...could barely have a conversation at our table.
Very good food! Seated us promptly. Drinks were delicious as well.
Great as always!!!
Awesome restaurant. The service is great and so is the food.
I was very impressed by the waiters. They offered excellent recommendations for cocktails based on my preferences! The service was quick as well!
Food is always delicious and fresh, Best Margaritas in the city. No mixes or added sweeteners. Service is always friendly. It was very busy and took as while for our drinks to arrive but we've been dining here since they opened and are never disappointed.
Consistently an excellent dining experience.
I have been searching for a place like this for years and finally found it! The food was the best I've ever had. Real authentic flavors from top to bottom. Our server was amazing to say the least. Extremely knowledgeable about everything at the restaurant and funny too! He made the experience memorable.
Tequila's served well for our special occasion dinner. While a bit pricey, the food was delicious and the restaurant was beautiful. The noise level was quite loud, but I have no real complaints- I'll go again!
I've been going to here for years and unfortunately my wife and I don't get out in the city as much as we'd like. We used to live in Philly and Tequilas was a regular spot for us - we even went on our first date there so there's a bunch of nostalgia for us. I'm hoping it was a one-off thing but the service we received this time when we went was poor. It seemed like the wait staff was extremely overworked because our waiter only came by once after taking our order. Sat outside as we usually do, that's why it was loud. Food was excellent as always, but it took 45 minutes from ordering until getting our food. This wouldn't have been a problem, but we ran out of chips and had to start eating the Mango/Crabmeat Guac with a spoon. It was still good but not the same thing. I'm hoping that a few people on the wait & kitchen staff just called out last minute which caused them to be spread thin. Will definitely go back, but if the service is like this again, may need to reconsider. They also seem to have significantly raised their prices recently. One entree, guac, a refill of chips and some corn tortillas came to almost $60 without tip.
Very warm and friendly place but as others have commented too loud to have a conversation or hear the waiter. The food was ok but not great. The chicken lava bowl was very good but the tortillas that came with it were not. The Tuna Ceviche had no flavor. The Caeser salad was bland. Spent over $100 and won't be back.
Food is terrific.
We love it every time!
I visit every time I travel to Philly. The menu is varied and different than your typical Mexican restaurant.
Excellent food and service. Great menu with lots of interesting choices. The barramundi salsa tequila was excellent.
Too noisy. We could not hear each other at our table
Had a fantastic short rib and scallop meal. The server was well informed and attentive. The food is always delicious. Favorite place to eat when in town . Never disappointed
Love the restaurant. Brought friends with us who had never been to the restaurant, we sat in the back room which was extremely noisy. Our young server though very nice failed miserably. Had to ask for our drinks and water 4+ times. Didn't know the tequila selection very well. In addition he seem very disoganized and forgetful. After telling our friends how spectacular the restaurant was, I was a bit embarrassed for my selection. But I will be back assuming this was a one off.
Tequila is a vibrant, friendly place to share good food with family and friends
Really like this place. Tasty food, superb service, noise level not bad, even on a busy Saturday evening. We will certainly go back.
