Ten Tables Jamaica Plain Ratings and Reviews
The waitstaff were very snobby. When we asked for a coke they made us feel like the unwashed. The short ribs were so salty that the two members of our party could only eat some of it. Re pricing- who charges $5 for bread and butter! Very disappointing given the reviews.
excellent food, drink, atmosphere, and staff. the staff was incredibly polite, humorous, and provided a welcoming experience like having dinner at a friend's house. For a place that brought such quality food to the table, they had such a humble manner of presenting it. to elaborate, the food was brought to us and described breifly (these are the fish cakes, here we have steak with potato cakes) but really what was brought to the table were dishes with such complexity that every bite was a new experience. I highly suggest the tasting menu and will definitely go back in the near future.
I've been to Ten Tables twice in the past 2 months for their monthly 4-course dinner with wine pairings, and both times I have enjoyed the experience. This last visit, the region was Alsace and I absolutely loved the food/wine pairings. All the wines complemented the food choices, but did not overpower the flavor of the food. The previous visit, the region was Tuscany and I was very excited to go since I had been on a trip a year ago to that region, "Cooking in Tuscany". The wine was excellent, but a couple of the food courses were disappointing-the flavor was fine but weak. The other two were excellent.
I found the staff very attentive, friendly and knowledgable (especially in regards to the wines). It is a small restaurant, so the noise level is moderate, but you can still carry on a conversation. I I already have reserved for September-California Coast! And I would love to take visitors for a regular dining experience. I consider this restaurant a gem in Jamaica Plain.
This was our third time attending the monthly wine dinner, a set menu with wine pairings focused on a geographic area (Santorini, Tuscany, Alsace). Food and wines were delicious and service was excellent each time. We already have reservations for next month.
We had such an excellent meal. The tasting menu was definitely worth it for four people. We all pretty much agreed that we would eat anything on the menu, and it's pretty rare when that happens. We got to taste the different salads and appetizers. For the main course, it was the hangar steak and luckily we all got that. Sharing would have been difficult: it was so good!
The rest of my party got the wine tasting as well, which was generous and apparently all very good.
All in all, we had a wonderful time. The food, the service, everything.
Excellent meal. We sat at the counter overlooking the kitchen in the main dining room and the 3 chefs/sous chefs and the waitresses were all really friendly and nice to us. Great to watch the cooking. The food was superb - the duck breast and pasta with duck are highly recommended. Small wine menu but very great choices. A neighbourhood gem.
We'll be back
My husband and I went to Ten Tables to celebrate our anniversary and it was absolutely wonderful. We had the chef's tasting menu with wine pairing and it was fabulous. Amazing food and wine. Cocktails were great. The service was phenomenal as well. Definitely best restaurant in JP!
Food was phenomenal as always. Everything was beautifully presented and very fresh. Shared all plates from the cheese plate which did not only have cheese and bread but delicious jams and chutneys, olives and spiced nuts, to the mussels which were in a savory white wine sauce with andouille sausage and the gnocchi which was handmade and perfectly combined with asparagus and cauliflower. The one thing that could have been improved was the spacing of dishes. The cheeseplate and mussels came out at the same time when they should have been coursed out. It made the table too crowded and the mussels became cold as we completed our cheese plate. Overall though the experience was very positive.
From start to finish, a perfect meal. The staff were friendly and professional and not pushy. We felt comfortable having a leisurely dinner. Comfortable ambience with low lighting and good but non-intrusive background music. We started with cocktails that were very flavorful (leaving on a jet plane!). The marinated hanger steak was perfectly cooked and delicious. We'll be back!
Incredible elevated cuisine in a friendly neighborhood atmosphere. The staff is funny, attentive and professional. The food was so good that it left both me and my dinner mate speechless several times. When we did speak it was to say variations of "Oh my goodness," and "This may be the best thing I've ever tasted". The house made gnocchi primavera, the roasted chicken breast (with the unbelievable pistachio pesto) and the basil panna cotta were all standouts in an already outstanding meal. Highly recommended.
This is my favorite restaurant, I love sitting at the chef's table and doing the tasting menu. The chef introduced every dish to us and is so passionate. He also offered to give us so recipes for ice cream! The food is top notch and the service is even better!
This was an ordinary event (dinner with my elderly mother) made special by the ambiance, service, and wonderful meal. Mom does not eat "everything" and was able to find a nice piece of tasty (not spicy!) chicken. My wife and I enjoyed slightly more adventurous pasta and fish offerings. Service was perfect - prompt but not hurried - food and drinks were prepared, presented, and tasted very well. Attitude of all we met was positive and energetic! We will be back and highly recommend!
Great food, excellent service lovely spot. Try won't find a better restaurant in the city.
JP's 10 tables is, as the name suggests, small. The servers are knowledgable, helpful, attentive and friendly. The homemade chips were delicious, the cod cake was amazing. The salads are excellent with fresh greens and lightly dressed.I had the hanger steak with bean cassoulet. The steak was cooked to perfection, flavorful and tender. The bean cassoulet was flavorful and yummy. My partner had the tagliatelle which he really liked. He really liked the flavor blend and said they melded nicely. The place is quiet and low key, good for conversation. If you haven't been yet you are missing out. I've been going since they opened and the food is consistently delicious and well prepared.
I have to be honest I've been to 10Tables before and had wonderful food before but this most recent was just not a great night.
The music was on far too loud to have a decent conversation (clearly the music was up for the decidedly young staff not for the customers)
My hanger steak was served in a bowl of broth and beans that took my medium rare steak from medium rare to well done in an instant and there was no way to cut it and further it was tough. My partner had gnocchi with vegetables. There were 2 gnocchi! Desert was excellent and the service was very good but the main courses were just not up to snuff and please guys serving steak in a bowl of broth? Different but not creative or tasty. And meat was really tough. :(
Went here with my wine-afficionado mother who made things a little difficult for staff at first (she is picky), but they handled it all very well by being very good-natured and she ended up loving their quirky wine suggestions. Their wine list has grapes you do not usually see used on their own in wines, she said.
The food was great (we had the tasting menu), and as a vegetarian I felt like my dish was better than my co-diners every time. I left feeling very very full! Everything was fresh and somehow a little surprising. For example, the gnocchi I had were soft and oozy on the inside and cooked well on the outside, somehow like ravioli, with an amazing tomato sauce. The desserts were heavenly. Highly recommended, but be prepared to spend some money on this place!
