Ten Tables Jamaica Plain
Ten Tables is always good, "Old school Italian night" is great. The place was packed though, which makes it a bit noisy. And the staff was super busy, which made her miss a couple of things, but she was coming by frequently and immediately put things to right when prompted.
We're definitely coming back.
Amore! was on the menu and this dinner was a lovefest. The tiny neighborhood restaurant was temporarily transform into a trattoria. Red checked table clothes and long white tapers in Chianti bottles further enhanced the look. The restaurant was sold out as they served a reasonably priced ($45.) three course meal. A wine paring for $25. was lovely.
The Frank Sinatra soundtrack completed the nod to old styke. Italian-American food BUT with Ten Tables sophistication. Even humble garlic bread was memorable, mussels,
Rabiola, Saltimboca and Bolognese were fabulous. Our surprise stand out dessert wasn't the delicious Tiramisu (very good) but the spectacular, non-traditional cheesecake.
We danced our way home!
We had the worst dining experience I have ever had. We were seated at a table that was the size of a counter- too small for our plates. I had made a reservation 2 weeks before and when we arrived we were told they had no room for us in the main dining area. It was very cold adjacent to the door. The staff was unapologetic. The food was not good either- soup was lukewarm, salads substandard. To top it off, the staff attitude was that we should be grateful to be at this place - I have never written a bad review before but felt obliged to save others from our experience.
My second time at TT as they call it. I had wonderful sweet potato gnocchi—vey rich and warming. My companion had the hangar steak-also excellent. Before our entrees arrived we were treated to a delicious caesar-like salad to share. Just enough for 2 people. Very noisy table nearby made conversation difficult—the noise level and acoustics subtract from the overall ambience. Skip dessert: bread pudding and chocolate cake with exotic ice cream flavors were not worth the calories.
We both have allergies and Ten Tables went above and beyond to accommodate our orders.
Food was tasty and the service is great but extremely pricey for what you get. No listed plant based options. One heavy dairy vegetarian option. Good spot for a fancy romantic date.
We went to Ten Tables after a recommendation from a friend. Honestly, we found it completely underwhelming. The vegetarian food was uninspired and felt like an after thought. Also, the consistency of the gnocchi was more like mashed potatoes.
Compounding this was a somewhat bizarre situation with the table next to us where the woman was very drunk and dancing around the restaurant. It felt like her behavior was almost encouraged by the staff. Our waitress was friendly but her perfume was applied so heavy that it interfered with the meal.
It’s too bad really because we live in JP and I wanted this place to be great and it just isn’t.
I loved the ambience of Ten Tables from the moment we walked in. It has a warm, friendly energy that was perfect for celebrating my friend's birthday. The staff was very attentive and we felt well taken care of. Our food was delicious and we both agreed that we would be back again soon!
I have been here multiple times but this visit was not good. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing and on two courses they were missing parts of the dish and had to bring us things on the side. All three of the deserts were not very good either. I am not sure if the cooks in the back were new, but I was disappointed.
Had a great experience. The meal was awesome and cooked to order. Ten Tables prides itself on using local ingredients and for it being the day after Christmas, They did not disappoint!
Excellent service and very good food once again.
Wonderful meal at one of the bar tables. Wait staff was extremely attentive and accommodating. The new menu is excellent and the neighborhood vibe is cozy and warm. I have been a loyal (and happy!) customer since the day it opened in 2003....new chef is rockin’ the kitchen!
We go to Ten Tables every year to celebrate our anniversary. It's cozy and intimate.
Most often we do the tasting menu. It's always so good! Great flavors and variety. Truly top-notch! Also, they often have a great cocktail and beer list. Service is always great too! You should eat here, unless you don't like delicious food?
This review relates to the Tuesday evening 12/18/2018 Piedmont wine pairing dinner. This was our first visit to TT in 2 or 3 years, before a changeover in the chef and sommelier positions. In general, the previous excellent standards have been maintained. We found the food to be very good and very creative. The wine choices were excellent. The first wine was funky and seemed to be a loser until it was tasted again after the food course, and then it worked brilliantly; that's the mark of an inspired sommelier. The two middle wines were more conventional but excellent, and the dessert wine was a very fine Moscato. My only quibble was that the first two courses were too salty for my taste. I am fanatical about salty food, but my wife also found the food salty. The third course (lamb osso bucco) was not over-salted and was cooked perfectly. Saltiness aside, it was a fine experience and it is encouraging to see that the restaurant has remained so good.
Overall great atmosphere and friendly staff but not knowledgeable about what they are serving. When you only serve a half dozen wines and the bartender can't describe them that's not good. Also, when the server delivers your cheese board and can't tell you what the cheeses are, that's not good either. Drinks are also pricey for the area. Food was very good!
Food was very good but not up to Ten Tables’ best. Excellent friendly service with the wine pairing contributed a lot to the overall experience.
We were disappointed in the Sunday night menu. Several courses were not tasty or well plated. The service was also slow and disorganized.
We’ve been here before. Don’t know what went wrong. Different owners I guess??? Just everything was not good. The host was the best part of the dinner. We sent our steak back and the host came over and chatted with us. Not our waitress who has left for the night.
Great food and service. Staff is very attentive and on point. Food was delcious and drink menu is unquie
another wonderful meal at TT- never disappointing! perfect for a date night or special occasion!
Long wait to get order taken. Incredibly noisy. Pleasant staff however.
We live in JP but hadn’t been to 10 tables for years. My wife had the impression that it was “meat” (beef and pork) heavy, but she was pleasantly surprised by the menu. The roasted Brussels sprouts were prepared without bacon and was delicious. Entrees of fish and chicken were excellent. We enjoyed the wine pairing which encouraged us to move beyond our “Pinot noir” comfort zone. All in all a great meal. We will return much sooner than we did the last time!
Very well coordinated and delicious Tuesday wine pairing dinners as well as Sunday's 3 course dinners. Staff is very attentive and friendly.
Once again we had an excellent meal at Ten Tables. The food and drink selections were spot on. Always interesting and they make the flavor pairings seasonal and pleasing. The chef and staff are food allergy aware and instill complete confidence that there will be no issues. We have never had an issue with contamination or an allergic reaction.
Please note: the place is small. That’s what makes it charming! However the biggest challenge is getting a reservation or a call back. This time we couldn’t find a table for 4 and had to make 2 reservations for 2 to pull it together. Must be something up with the booking method.
We had a nice meal at Ten Tables, but we've had better in the past, frankly. It's a long-time favorite of ours, but this time the service was friendly but amateurish (could be because it was a Monday night), and there was a long wait between courses. And as the prices have crept up, the value proposition has diminished, alas. The food was still delicious, though the desserts were lackluster.
The food was very salty and nothing special for the value.
Very basic food for a very expensive price. We took the omnivore 4 courses menu and it was a big disappointment.
Great vibe... dimly lit and intimate. The 4 course tasting was delicious and a great value.
We have loved this place for years because we're always guaranteed a terrific meal. We miss it now that we've moved out of state but it's one of the places we try to go whenever we're back in the area.
I'm vegetarian and had a wonderful chickpea lentil sausage entree. I hope that the chef continues to serve creative vegetarian/vegan options. The cocktail menu changes on a regular basis and I've never had a cocktail tester I didn't love at Ten Tables.
First time going. Likely to return. Super friendly staff. Cozy, great for couples, we made four work but would be tough with more than four. We were in no hurry, and werent rushed at all. Very sucessful birthday dinner.
I made this reservation for my birthday and they sat us right next to the bathroom where we constantly had people hanging out near our table. They got my food order wrong (after we had been waiting to get our food for 30 minutes I had to then wait longer). We were ignored and when we were ready to leave we had to find someone to get our check so we could go. In all I expected so much more from this place and am highly disappointed and will not be returning.
Food and atmosphere is always of high quality - how we felt this time that the portions were smaller and the wine list not as varied. Still a very good restaurant but this time not up to usual v high standards.
We had been wanting to go to 10 tables for many years. The experience was very nice. We did not love everything that we ordered. Perhaps we are more sensitive to salt, however everything was heavily salted. We loved the chicken entree. Quite flavorful and yummy. The grilled romaine salad tasted good. We did not love the scallop dish. the scallops were delicious, however we had not realized that it was made with chorizo and the flavor of the chorizo was too much with the other delicate flavors. We had buyers remorse and wished we had ordered differently.
Ten Tables is again terrific! I have been a loyal customer since it opened in 2003.
Great new chef and attentive, friendly service....truly a five star experience!!
The bar side is quieter than the table side...FYI!
Went for the Sunday Supper - 3 course prix fixe. Food was excellent. Some delays with the service as the restaurant was busy, but food was well worth the wait and staff was generally very attentive. Great spot and looking forward to another visit.
Since we live some distance from Ten Tables, we attend the wine pairing meals at the end of each month when I can rearrange my work schedule. My wife and I enjoy the well paired wine with the well chosen and delicious and 4 course meals. The pre-selected wines take away the confusion and potential miss-selections of wine. We plan to enjoy the offerings on Sunday evenings. Our favorite restaurant. Krista is a wonderful host.
Our first trip to Ten Tables will not be our last. We enjoyed the Sunday Supper experience. Even with a limited menu, anyone could find 3 delicious courses. The dishes are well prepared and presented, with a creative touch that works. The room isn't elegant, but lit with lots of candles, the brick walls are inviting. The place is intimate, welcoming and the staff seems well-trained. A lovely spot in Jamaica Plain.
Great food, great service, inventive cocktails great bar tender
Food was very good, fresh. Plenty of options to choose from.
Wine was a bit expensive and small serving. $14 for a very small glass of wine. No Chardonnay
