At Ten Tables JP, our modest size and open kitchen create an opportunity for you to enjoyably be part of the experience. Our newly expanded space, which created a stylish but laid-back bar, is warmly appointed with reclaimed wood and exposed brick, giving us a decidedly European feel. Whether you just stop in for a drink and light bite at a high-top in the bar, or stay for a full meal at one of our dining room tables, you will come to enjoy a sophisticated and stylish space that all at once feels as familiar and comfortable as home.

Great evening - first time on a Wednesday night. Quality of food was excellent and the service was its usual high standard. Great night out.

Not sure if I rated the noise level appropriately ; but there was little noise and we were able to enjoy our conversation. This was a return visit for us. We will be back again!

What a cozy restaurant for a snowy March evening! It was my mom's birthday and somehow they knew... our waitress put a little candle in the delicious blueberry bread pudding she ordered. We will certainly be back!

We had the vegetarian prix fixe menu. The food and drinks were great, the service was friendly and the dishes were served at just the right pace. We didn't feel rushed, and we didn't feel like we were waiting too long.

Great service and really good food. Only the dessert was disappointing. The chocolate cake lacked flavor and richness. We would definitely go back and try more.

All of the waitstaff was excellent. We got excellent service and good advice on our food, which was delicious. We got the cheese board and vegetarian tasting plate, and thoroughly enjoyed both. The cocktails were great. We'll definitely be going back.

I have been here many times and really enjoyed it 9 out of 10 times. But the food and service were both unfortunately sub-par this time. Hope it was an anomaly and not a sign of things to come.

This is our third time eating at Ten Tables. This time the food was good, but not as uniformly excellent as on the previous two visits. Also, wait staff seemed to be rotating between tables, so we often had three people stopping by one after another ask ask us the same questions.

Ten Tables used to be a magical dining experience from start to finish. It seems like there is a new owner, new chef and also new staff with very little training... not magical. It’s fine. Not a destination for us any more compared to other places we could choose.

Dinner at Ten Tables had been on our list for a while and it did not disappoint! We shared the focaccia and beet salad - both delicious. I had the lamb (ask for a sharp knife), and he got the chicken. Yum, yum!

The waitstaff was very attentive. We absolutely loved the octopus and cauliflower appetizers; however, the gumbo was surprisingly bland - though the seafood in it was plentiful and delicious. It was puzzling that they could be out of 2 of the 3 dessert wines, and it would have been nice if the cocktail menu included a couple options that are not sweet or fruity, but they do offer a "Bartender's Whim" cocktail, so one could easily specify that preference.

We have been regulars at Ten Tables for seven years. We went recently for the first time in a while, and found that a number of things have changed, and sadly not for the better. The new waitstaff was quite amateurish: they set the table incorrectly, placing the knife on the left for me, and then on the right for my wife (?). Small detail - I would be a snob if a small thing like that affected my evening, but there's more. In the past, a server suggested to my wife and I that we split a wine pairing: one pairing, split between two glasses. How thoughtful! I guess we got in the habit of doing that, but when we asked for the same thing this time, we got a confused, sideways look and quickly got two pairings instead. We were served mussels as a first course, and had to snag the server to get a dish to put the shells in.

As for the food: the "Chef's Whim" was something we had come to love - a prix fixe meal where the chef would surprise you with whatever ingredients looked good that day. We ordered it, and it turned out that it was almost exactly the same thing that was on the regular menu. The food itself was rather bland: watery orzo, no amuse-bouche. The only good thing I have to say about the meal was that the selection of wines continues to be very strong. It's a shame there was no good food to pair it with, as that was always one of Ten Tables' strongest traits.

Finally, the atmosphere has changed. We used to think of Ten Tables as our cozy, romantic restautant. Cozy is fine, if the rest of the people eating there are also polite and enjoying the food. But there seemed to be a lot of loud customers drinking a lot of alcohol. My guess is that they didn't give a whit about good food, but just picked the place because it had a high Yelp rating. It seems that Ten Tables has changed staff and is now coasting along on its name and its prior reputation, and I can no longer recommend it.

Unfortunately, despite two phone calls from the restaurant confirming a 9:30pm dinner reservation (not to mention the fact that Ten Tables accepts 10pm dinner reservations on Open Table), when I walked in the door at 9:42, I was told the kitchen had already closed for the evening, and that while they did not offer a bar menu I could order drinks if I so wished. Having just come from a three hour recording season, dinner was most certainly the priority. I had been looking forward to dining at Ten Tables, having previously lived in JP and never been able to get in, but I don’t know that I will be going back any time soon.

Ten Tables used to be the one excellent restaurant in Jamaica Plain. It is still excellent, although competitors not thrive up and down Centre Street. We shared the wonderfully grilled Haloumi cheese with grilled bread as an appetizer. The risotto I chose was perfect for a chilly evening: warm and comforting, with vegetables still a little crisp. Ten Tables remains a neighborhood gem, with attentive and well-informed staff. Long may it thrive!

We enjoyed the chef’s tasting menu very much. The meatballs (2nd course) were incredible. The restaurant got quite loud by about 6:30 but we were wrapping up shortly thereafter so didn’t mind.

Our party of four ordered pork belly, mussels, tagliatelle, Brussels sprouts, meatballs, gnocchi, and molten chocolate cake. Everything was delicious. The server let us try several flavors of wine, until we found varieties we liked. Service was attentive and pleasant.

Ten Tables is always good, "Old school Italian night" is great. The place was packed though, which makes it a bit noisy. And the staff was super busy, which made her miss a couple of things, but she was coming by frequently and immediately put things to right when prompted.
We're definitely coming back.

Amore! was on the menu and this dinner was a lovefest. The tiny neighborhood restaurant was temporarily transform into a trattoria. Red checked table clothes and long white tapers in Chianti bottles further enhanced the look. The restaurant was sold out as they served a reasonably priced ($45.) three course meal. A wine paring for $25. was lovely.
The Frank Sinatra soundtrack completed the nod to old styke. Italian-American food BUT with Ten Tables sophistication. Even humble garlic bread was memorable, mussels,
Rabiola, Saltimboca and Bolognese were fabulous. Our surprise stand out dessert wasn't the delicious Tiramisu (very good) but the spectacular, non-traditional cheesecake.
We danced our way home!

We had the worst dining experience I have ever had. We were seated at a table that was the size of a counter- too small for our plates. I had made a reservation 2 weeks before and when we arrived we were told they had no room for us in the main dining area. It was very cold adjacent to the door. The staff was unapologetic. The food was not good either- soup was lukewarm, salads substandard. To top it off, the staff attitude was that we should be grateful to be at this place - I have never written a bad review before but felt obliged to save others from our experience.

My second time at TT as they call it. I had wonderful sweet potato gnocchi—vey rich and warming. My companion had the hangar steak-also excellent. Before our entrees arrived we were treated to a delicious caesar-like salad to share. Just enough for 2 people. Very noisy table nearby made conversation difficult—the noise level and acoustics subtract from the overall ambience. Skip dessert: bread pudding and chocolate cake with exotic ice cream flavors were not worth the calories.

We went to Ten Tables after a recommendation from a friend. Honestly, we found it completely underwhelming. The vegetarian food was uninspired and felt like an after thought. Also, the consistency of the gnocchi was more like mashed potatoes.

Compounding this was a somewhat bizarre situation with the table next to us where the woman was very drunk and dancing around the restaurant. It felt like her behavior was almost encouraged by the staff. Our waitress was friendly but her perfume was applied so heavy that it interfered with the meal.

It’s too bad really because we live in JP and I wanted this place to be great and it just isn’t.

I have been here multiple times but this visit was not good. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing and on two courses they were missing parts of the dish and had to bring us things on the side. All three of the deserts were not very good either. I am not sure if the cooks in the back were new, but I was disappointed.

Most often we do the tasting menu. It's always so good! Great flavors and variety. Truly top-notch! Also, they often have a great cocktail and beer list. Service is always great too! You should eat here, unless you don't like delicious food?
