Ten Prime Steak & Sushi - Providence Ratings and Reviews
Ten has been a family favorite for years and we were back to celebrate my daughter's 26th birthday. I have to admit that I've been a bit disappointed the last few visits but they seem to back to full strength! Waiter was awesome, drinks (always great) were top notch and they have added a few new items to the menu while keeping some of the good things there. It was a great night and everyone enjoyed themselves. We will be back again soon for sure.
Great restuarant all around. Possibly the best rib eye in Rhode Island. Excellent sushi presentation. Jeffrey, the manager was very welcoming. Our favorite waiter, Johnny who we have known since Odessa 30 years ago, serves with style , elegance and fascinating repartee.
I ordered a Cesar salad with grilled shrimp and wayuu flat iron steak with mashed potatoes and not good. The shrimp was cold and the salad had no dressing. I had to ask for extra dressing to put on it. After that, my steak came back and it was over cooked. I ordered it medium well and it came back well done at that point I was just disappointed and didn't even bother to ask them to change it. The garlic mashed potatoes were good though. One side would clearly be enough for 2-3 people, but I was wry disappointed about the steak. Too dry for my taste. We finished with the chocolate lava cake and I think that was the only good part. It was amazing... I may go back to this place just for dessert but definitely not for a whole meal.
We chose this place based on its review in RI Monthly. Sadly I don't agree with the review. Food was extremely pricey so it should have been perfection. I had the Delmonico steak it was over cooked and chewy. The calamari was just okay. The crab legs did not taste fresh nor was it tender. It was also 80 degrees out and super hot inside. Doors were open no ac. However, the sides were delicious and my husband said the sushi was good. The service was reasonably good. Our dinner dates without children are few and far between so when we go to a place it has to be amazing or we won't be back. We won't be back to this restaurant sorry to say.
Food was the great. The waiter was awesome. The hostess and host were both very snobby. The woman acted like I made a mistake when I checked in saying that the reservation was only for 3. The reservation was for 4, when we got there a little early we were told our 2 friends (which makes 4 altogether) were at the bar and our table would be ready soon. No big deal, but if you make a mistake own it. Don't make it look like I called in a reservation for 3 and showed up with 4 people. Other than that everything else was great.
I will never go to this establishment again. We were given a gift card to this hospitality group for Christmas and finally had the chance to use it. We made our reservation 2 months ago for date night. We arrived about 5 minutes early and were told that our table was not quite ready yet, completely understandable. A couple then walks in after us and are greeted by name, clearly regulars. They are given a choice of where to sit. We were then given a table for 4 (which was set up when we arrived) that was right near the door. It was quite obvious our table was given up for the regulars.
We ordered our food and tried to enjoy the night anyway as we rarely get to go out to eat. I got the lamb and my boyfriend got the NY sirloin. Everything was pretty pricey so I expected a very good dish. I was sincerely disappointed. I do not mind spending money on high-quality food, but I do get offended when prices do not match the quality and taste of the dish.
We finished our meal and asked to speak to a manager about the seating situation. The manager was the hostess who sat the regulars. She was defensive and rude. In fact, she refused to look at my boyfriend (who was doing the talking as he stays calmer in situations than I do) the entire time we were talking. I even had to point at him once because she continued to speak only to me, despite the fact that I was not the one responding. She made several excuses and finally admitted they made a mistake but stated that the reason the other couple was given a choice is because they were regulars and they were celebrating a birthday.
Overall, considering the price of the food, the quality, and the way they treat customers they assume will not be spending a lot of money, I would not recommend this place. If you are looking for an upscale dinner in the area, just go to Circe. The food is much better and they know how to treat their customers.
Second time to this restaurant, and everything is excellent. Reservation were for 5:15, we sat at 5:15. The wait staff asked if we were heading to the play and that they would get us out of there in plenty of time. The raw oysters were excellent, as expected. The filet mignon were cooked as desired and melted in our mouths. The desserts were again over the top. The banana bread pudding and chocolate lava are highly recommended. The only down fall is the price. The meals are ala carte, sides are good size more than for 2 people to eat. Highly recommended, but bring your credit card.
Great experience and the Open Table reservation app work flawlessly including your reminder and Confirmation called the day of reservation. Connect to maps in case directions were needed to arrive. Complimentary valet parking is a huge Plus based on the location and even the ability to summon the vehicle through your phone while finishing up dinner so by the time you are done here vehicle is waiting curbside to pick you up period super friendly staff great sushi and outstanding mojitos including an extensive wine list. I would wish that birthday mentions we're more of a celebrated experiences everyone deserves a candle in a piece of dessert or cake with happy birthday saying to them on their birthday. It's one day what we should all be able to feel special in a world that is so selfish and self-absorbed period I think when a birthday is mentioned in a group setting at the table to the service provider that's a complimentary birthday cake of some sort unless one is furnished by the guests party should be presented at the end of dinner with some sort of Celebration to appreciate the patrons celebration and choosing your establishment enjoy their special day. Other than that I think it was Tenn across the board including the contact with Kyle the front Hostess who answered my call when I explained that we were running a bit behind because we were stuck behind a tractor trailer and felt like we were in the st. Patrick's Day Parade because that's how slow we were going and she related to an incident that she had experienced and felt really personable and there's this I've known her for years when she approached our table when we arrive period very personable service and friendly staff I would definitely revisit but I've also been a customer for many years so I might be a little biased hahaha thank you for a great birthday
Great place to eat before going to PPAC. Valet your car here, eat, go to your show and when you walk back to the restaurant after the show there is an app on our phone to call for your car. It will be waiting for you in front of the restaurant. Food is great and service was extremely attentive.
Took My wife for dinner and a show for her birthday. Stopped in before The Lion King. Food was awesome!!! The sushi was excellent and my steak was wonderfully prepared. The staff was friendly and our waiter was probably one of the best I've ever had...anywhere (wish i could remember his name). My wife order some sushi rolls as her main course and let the waiter pick out which ones she got. He was spot on. It was a very pleasant experience and i will definitely return.
Saturday, my husband and I had reservations at Ten Prime Steak and Sushi in Providence for our 28th wedding anniversary. Upon arrival, our hostess directed us to a very private booth with curtains and candle light! On the table was a card from the entire “Team Ten” wishing us a happy anniversary. Our waiter was Johnny T. We cannot say enough about him. So attentive – but not pushy. We began with Alaskan King Crab Legs (already cracked) with drawn butter and lemon – sweet and delicious. Then we tried the Prime Sushi Roll, which was Maine lobster & tempura asparagus topped with beef carpaccio, and some truffle chili oil. It was a work of art and scrumptious. For entries my husband and the Filet 10 - filet mignon, brûléed foie gras, sweet potato purée, fig & bacon demi-glace, crispy onion strings. The filet was cooked perfectly – medium rare – and melted like butter in your mouth. The fig and bacon demi-glace was the perfect touch for this filet. I had the Day Boat Scallops - pan seared, parsnip puree, bacon brussels sprouts, micro greens, scallion oil. Scallops were tender, sweet and seared perfectly. Both dishes were amazing! Be warned that every dessert is made in house and they require a ½ notice. All the cream and ice cream are also made in house. We ordered two cappuccinos along with our dessert. My husband ordered the Grand Marnier Crème Brûlée with homemade cotton candy!! I chose the Gianduja Chocolate Lava Cake with Espresso ice cream. As you can see from the photo, the lava cake came out on a piece of slate, with beautifully designed fresh fruit, and Happy Anniversary written across the Board in chocolate. Totally blew us away. Both desserts were amazing and perfect. Their barrister got the cappuccinos right, too. And of course, to end the night – we had two Cognacs (Courvoisier VS and Hennessey VS) on the recommendation of Johnny T. He was spot on all night.
We will be back!
