Tempo Ratings and Reviews
This was Valentines evening, so everything had to be great - and it was:
- Took us right on time with our reservation
- Our server arrived immediately and after some conversation with the bartenders, made us exactly the drinks we wanted
- The timing of the dinner was right on - each course with a short rest between
- Food was very good: the roast salmon and the Cajun blackened swordfish were beautifully cooked
- No hurry, even though it was a busy night
- Excellent dessert, adjusted to our taste on order
Not cheap, but, very good!
The problem with Tempo is first of all is it's location (Moody St. Watham). I see it as a neighborhood bar and for a bite to eat after work. Nothing special. It used to be! Also we were "over-served". I found the server totally obnoxious. We didn't even get a chance to sit down and take our coats off before he started asking us what we wanted to drink etc. and he never left us alone during dinner. Always interrupting us and seemingly trying to hurry us along. We had a 6:30 reservation and were in our car to go home before 8:00. I know we had a 2 hr timeline. It was really disconcerting and we probably won't ever go back.
My friends and I dined at Tempo on Saturday night. The food was great and so were the drinks. We decided on just apps and small plates, as we weren’t as hungry as we initially thought. Our server was awesome too!
One thing that was annoying is we were planning on getting salads and adding protein but the protein add on was more than the salad! Also, a friend did get salad sans protein and it wasn’t the largest portion of you were making it an entree.
Overall, great experience and we’ll be back!
The food was really great. I had a short ribs dish with polenta, and I wish I could have licked my plate. My friend enjoyed the fish and chips, which was a huge portion so she took half home.
The waiter was excellent.
I wish it were quieter. Also, I wish they had iced tea. And I wish parking was easier. But overall, great.
Tempo has become our new favorite place for upscale yet casual dining. The menu cocktails are different and truly marvelous -- our waitress shared that the bartender is a mixology genius, and we agree! Delivery of the meal may be a bit slow to some folks' standards [we prefer it that way; we never feel rushed!] because all food is freshly and expertly prepared, and it is beautifully plated as well. Favorites are the hanger steak and "any" of the seafood items. Nothing has disappointed us!
I said to my family after the meal. I want to go again tomorrow to have that dessert myself as we had shared. Everything was delicious. I have Celiac Disease and the staff is very knowledgeable. They are a safe restaurant for e to go to with no cross contamination. The desserts are homemade. And the entrees plentiful! I have been going for years and they never disappoint.
This was our second time at Tempo. I have Celiac so I'm always on the look out for restaurants who can do gluten free well. Tempo did not disappoint. Virtually everything they serve is either GF or can be made GF. They also offer GF bread. The food itself is delicious and the drinks creative (highly recommend "Love and fernnet"). It's a bit of a pricier place to dine, but it's not stuffy and you can definitely bring the whole family.
Went on a frigid Tuesday evening in January and restaurant was surprisingly quiet. That left our party with terrific, prompt service. Oysters were fantastic and a great deal at $1 each. Mains (steak, tuna, scallops) all well-prepared. Will definitely return.
Always love Tempo! Great mix of small plates, salads, and entrees. The flavors of the food is always top notch, with different types of flavors all mixing to simple yet very tasty combinations.
Especially love the Pan Fried Brussel Sprouts with smoked bacon, the Hot pepper calamari for appetizers. The entree of Short Ribs with truffle risotto is out of this world. The spicy shrimp and scallop entree was great also.
Service is attentive but not clingy and the wine list is interesting but not stuffy. Highly recommend Tempo. It never disappoints!
We hadn't been here in a while and had forgotten jut how good it is! In fact, we plan to return soon. Service was competent and pleasant (Thank, Brie!) and food was outstanding, better than many more expensive places. A tad noisy but there were several large parties there that night. Highly recommend!
We go here often and decided to break away from our old favorites (Portuguese fish stew and Sword fish). We tried the Short rib and the Scallops with a side of bacon Brussel Sprouts. This slight bravery was greatly rewarded! As always, we enjoyed Tempo’s fresh presentation of delicious food compliments by great service, but their versatility and rotating menu encourages further exploration next time.
Tempo consistently delivers. The food is always great and it really hits the sweet spot of perfect atmosphere. It's fancy food and you feel like you are somewhere luxurious but it does not feel stuffy or "too fancy" great atmosphere, and excellent food. Lots of seafood options and the whole menu can be gluten free. Highly recommend - it's at the top of my list when I am recommending a place to eat or planning a dinner get together
