Tempo Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We were a group of six for New Years Eve. I assumed it would be busy, and it was. But we received excellent service, the food was wonderful, and we were not rushed. The stuffed veal chop was heaven. My friends loved the shrimp risotto and my husband enjoyed his swordfish.
My family of 4 had an early (5:15 PM) reservation on New Year’s Eve. This has been for years, a top favorite restaurant in Buffalo. I am surprised that this visit warrants a mediocre rating and attribute it in part to the date. We were seated on the second floor in a room that smelled slightly of mildew and was not sufficiently heated. Some of the entrees were excellent (veal chop), some were just passable (poached lobster). The server was wonderful. My advice would be to avoid on a holiday, unless guaranteed first floor seating. In addition I would ask about the popularity of any entree.
There were 4 of us for dinner on a Thursday night. We each swore we had the best dinner ordered. They were delicious. Our waiter was excellent and the rest of the wait staff were very attentive (always filled water glasses, etc). It was an expensive evening but well worth it. My only concern is the noise level. It was at times difficult to hear the person opposite you at the table. All in all, though a terrific experience and we will return!
Our first visit to TEMPO after intending to go for several years, and it was fantastic. The service, food, and ambiance were wonderful. My only complaint was our table for 2 was a bit close to the 6-top next to us, whose conversation was not something of which we wanted to be part, but felt like it anyway. Dinner for two, with cocktails and a glass of wine each, was just over $200.
This is a great fine dining restaurant with quality ingredients in the food. The starters were nice, oysters were yummy. Swordfish was well cooked, the sausage was bit overcooked, my friend took shrimp risotto which was really tasty. The wine selection is elaborate, bit pricy but good spread. Beer choices needs to improve and not available from the tap. The big drawback is there are no booth options, only table sitting. We had sent a request for corner booth, we did not know they do not offer. For people with back problems to sit on chairs, this may not be an option.
We were seated fast and our waiter was great in the beginning then he seemed to forget about us, we waited probably 10-15 min to get notice in order to get a refill on our drinks at least twice. Once our order was taken it was far and few times we were checked in on. My Lobster came out cold in some spots and and was very chewy, had we not had some place to be after eating I would have sent it back, but I didn't have another 30 min to wait for it to get fixed. Our filet mignon was very good and tender.
The food was outstanding and our server was wonderful. The bartender knew how to pour a beautiful drink, but the parking was a little tough and because the dining area is on the smaller side it was a little loud and hard to have a conversation because you felt like you were talking with the other dinners. However overall the night was filled with great food and drink.
My wife and I ate at Tempo last night and we had an excellent meal. She started with a carpaccio appetizers, which was one of the best we have tasted. And I had a soft shell crab, which they we able to prepare for me gluten free. Loved it. Both of us had fish main courses, her the branzino and I had red snapper. Both of these dishes were also excellent. Great service and a nice bottle of wine. Wonderful evening
Tempo is in a restored small apartment building on Delaware Avenue. Walking in, the entrance is not impressive but once inside you are in a warm, attractive, simple atmosphere. We sat at the bar for a drink first: the bartender is excellent as were the drinks. Dinner was solid, not spectacular, wine list by the glass was excellent.
This restaurant was recommended to us by a friend. We came to Buffalo for my son's graduation. All 5 of us were so impressed with every aspect of this place. This had to been one of our favorite restaurants. The atmosphere, the service, the food, were all top notch. My husband, who knows good wine, was very impressed with the selection offered. I would definitely come here again!
Amazing restaurant--the food, service and ambiance were incredible. This is a jewel of a restaurant in any city, but it absolutely shines as the best I have been to in Buffalo.
I was visiting Buffalo and needed a special place for dinner. I did not like the first table they offered and they graciously moved me, no questions asked. The menu came and all of us were pleasantly surprised -- Branzino, veal chop (it is huge) and Italian delicacies are not something I expected to see on the menu in Buffalo along with many other great options. Every one of the four appetizers and entrees where prepared to perfection. The wait staff was well trained and cordial. The champagne and wine were incredibly well priced.
This is a special place that would easily be a go to place in Paris or NYC--it is the best in Buffalo.
Mother's Day. The server was not very attentive. He took almost 15 minutes to greet us. I asked him about it and he said I quote "We are busy". I was a GM in the restaurant business for 20 years and that type of attitude is unacceptable. They are places not as nice but the service is far better. Beside that it was good. Left him a $40.00 tip so I have the right to tell it like I is.
My husband and I went for our anniversary and had a wonderful dinner. I wasn't sure what to order after seeing some items on the menu that I didn't recognize. The waiter did such a fine job of describing the choices and how they are prepared that I took a chance and followed his recommendation even though it was a type of fish I would never have ordered on my own. Outstanding! Lovely, historic and cozy.
