We love Tempo. Great food, great service. Quiet, pleasant environment allows intimate conversation while enjoying creative offerings served elegantly and hot. Their dessert tray is a eonder to behold.
Tempo is a superb restaurant, and I always enjoy my visits there.
Always welcoming & a fun experience.
Had a great meal at Tempo. We didn't go at a busy time (Sunday, an hour after opening) so the place was only half full. Still, I can confirm that seating is at fairly close quarters. Appreciate the lack of blaring music, allows people to actually converse.
Excellent service delicious food!
I took my girl friend for her Birthday. The food was absolutely delicious and service was excellent. I love the fact they offer great specials for affordable price. Definitely will be going back for another special occasion.
Charming restaurant with good food. A little too crowded, elbow to elbow.
Quiet, intimate setting, tables not spaced too close, no background music or noise from other diners to make conversation difficult. Very friendly staff, helpful recommendations.
Good service. Well prepared and presented food, delicious and healthy food. Variety with some choices for vegetarians. Not too loud considering the small space. One of my favorites for special events.
We waited 1 hour and 20 minutes for our food. Others who came in after us were served while we sat. To compensate we got a free glass of wine, and the manager did take 50% off the bill. My two friends' food was good, they said. I ordered Steak Diablo, medium Rare, and I got a piece of shoe leather, well done. It was also So unattractive, just a flat slab of meat. I did not complain or send it back, thinking I did not want to make my friends wait even Longer for my food to come back, we had already waited so long. And there was No guarantee is would be any better. The piece of steak, supposedly New York Strip, was a flat slab of leather. Summary? Terrible.
VERY LOUD! Crowded tables- Always had to get up and out of chair for others to pass by the table. It was busy, this explains both concerns, but the acoustics were terrible- one issue I guess when you convert a gas station to a restaurant. Maybe trying to accommodate too many people on a holiday. Food was good and prices seemed reasonable. I would not go back except on a slow mid-week evening.
We received excellent food and excellent service. I suggest making a reservation ahead of time for holidays.
It was brilliant. This Chef is one of the best I have every experienced. She really knows how to pair her food appropriately and everything, including the dessert is exceptionally tasty! The wait staff are very professional too. Tempo is a family favorite of ours.
Their pre-set meal for two at $55 including a decent bottle of wine is a real good bargain.
The food and service at Tempo are always outstanding. The prices are very reasonable for value received and it is a great neighborhood restaurant.
Can't get fish preparation anywhere better than Tempo. Apps are very good also and the dessert tray is large.
This is one of our go to restaurants when people are in town to visit. They always have great food at reasonable prices and the staff always pleases. After the March for Our Lives, we needs some comfort food and Tempo was just what the doctor ordered. My salmon and the wife’s steak were very good and the veggies as well as the potatoes were especially tasty. Highly recommended.
Our luncheon was very enjoyable. We "ladies" get together once/month and will definitely be going back there. Our waitress was very professional, food very good/
Nicely appointed and bright with art. Varied menu. Tasty. Excellent value.
Have been to tempo before enjoying their food very much. Never had the pasta. So I thought I oils try some. Dish was good but ruined by soggy pasta. I will go back but will never have pasta again.
Tempo is always wonderful, every aspect. Great choices. Fabulous deserts. Interesting way;l art.
Great atmosphere, attentive staff and delicious food. My husband and I had a very nice dinner with friends. The evening was enjoyed by all. I had snapper, my husband and our friend Corvina and her husband had flounder. So happy with the variety of fish options. First time, but definitely not our last time. Can’t wait to go back!
We requested and received a quiet table for a family get together and birthday celebration. The food and service were excellent. All in our party ordered seafood entries which were prepared perfectly. Salads were exemplary, and the deserts out of this world. Highly recommended!
Excellent service, and specials menu! Good value. Great Mon and Tues Specials. Take wines recommended by waiter. Right on target!
Although I no longer live in Alexandria, I was in northern Virginia and suggested that a friend meet me there for dinner. The food and service were outstanding. The ambiance was delightful, we we're not rushed and were able to have a lovely catch up visit.
Consistently good. Friendly, considerate staff. Gnocchi was outstanding. Mushroom appetizer was fabulous. Dessert tray full of delicious choices. Monday-Tuesday special a real value.
The food was pretty good. We split an asparagus appetizer and pasta dish to start, and thought both were quite good. My mahi mahi and my husband's steak diablo were pretty good. But the dessert (chocolate cheesecake) was not good at all. The bread was good but when we asked for more, our server seemed pretty put out by the request (or judgmental that we were eating so much, I couldn't tell). The prix fixe menu online didn't exist on a Sat night, which was disappointing. And we weren't thrilled that each course came as soon as we were done with our last. But all and all, especially given the average age of the clientele (old!), we thought the food was pretty tasty.
Our first time at Tempo was Saturday. Menu looked good so we gave it a try. Nice clean restaurant with a lot of choices. I had the grouper special my wife the salmon in eggplant Ragu. Both were very good. Actually so good we went back Sunday. And tried other dishes which were also very good. The restaurant has two rooms. The main room is louder then the second room but both are comfortable. The only complaint is they should use better cherries in there Manhattans. We will keep going back.
Had Sunday Brunch. The food was excellent. Recommend the lunch entree of scallops. Very tasty! The service was very attentive.
Awful service- had to wait almost 40 minutes before placing drink order. Was left alone to wait 10-15 additional minutes before waiter returned to take entree order. Despite the reviews and awards, the food was average.
We went here for the Valentine's Day Prix Fixe event being provided - a four course meal with some really intriguing options available. Upon sitting down (we were squeezed into a small corner table with no room to move the chairs out), it took about 5 minutes before a server came to immediately gather our order, no introduction or suggestions as to his favorites. We ordered a bottle of wine and our chosen four courses. The bottle of wine was expertly presented by a different individual and small pours were provided to each of us. That was the last time anyone poured for us, as no one stopped at our table until the end of the meal. All four courses, while delicious, were brought out in such rapid succession, we were rarely even finished with one before the next was being set down. After about 45 minutes of being there, our dessert was brought out to us and we couldn't even think to eat it because we had not had any time to digest the prior three courses yet. We were trying to slow down and enjoy our wine, only to be rushed by the original server who wanted to present the check. When I presented a gift certificate we had received, we were immediately told "I won't honor that tonight." There were three black out dates on the voucher (Christmas, New Year's and Mother's Day) and no information on the menu or website saying no certificates. After trying to argue with us, he finally accepted it and after applying it to the check, sped past our table throwing the check in the middle and saying "Goodnight." He never came back for payment, we had to get the manager to complete the payment. Overall, terrible experience for an establishment attempting to be fine dining with high prices. When you have horrible service the way we did and are rushed through a meal costing over $200, there's no reason to recommend this to anyone for anything.
Busy night, Valentines day, but service was good and friendly. Food was great.
Tempo's food and service never fails to impress. Even on Valentine's Day the food was superb.
Excellent neighborhood restaurant. Very consistent in food and service. Great food and incredible service.
The food and service were very good. But the noise level was so high that we could not have any significant conversation. I can't recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants to talk with his or her companion(s) over dinner. If you're not on speaking terms, it would be fine.
A Restaurant Week experiment. Worth a return visit. Food was tasty and well portioned for lunch. The service was attentive without being intrusive.
We are long-time costumers and went there to celebrate my birthday.
Brought friends for Restaurant Week and was a bit disappointed in the offerings.
Very low key. Went out for a nice relaxing meal and our expectations were exceeded. Servers were very easy going, no rush, no push to turn over the table. A wonderful relaxing evening.
Service was excellent and the food as always, very good.
