Tempo Restaurant - Alexandria Ratings and Reviews
Had a wonderful time with my companion celebrating her birthday. I chose this restaurant without any recommendation and was glad I did. The ambiance was airy and light with the wall filled with art works from local artist(s). The setting was roomy even though the place was quite full when we arrived for our Saturday, 7 PM reservation.
We ordered from that day's menu offerings and was happy with our choices, especially the scallops ceviche . Having had ceviche made with white fish(cod, talapia, etc.), this was a wonderful take on an old favorite. The sliced scallops were mouth watering and melted away while imparting the tangy flavors of the ceviche mix. Our main courses were split between the mountain trout and the salmon. Each offering was light with subtle flavors that allowed the portions of fish to shine. An accompanying mixed vegetable medley was excellent except for the so called baby carrots. An more apt compliment to the medley would have been sliced or julienne carrots . A large selection for desserts yielded fresh berries and carrot cake. A good selection of wines made a wonderful evening. Whether celebrating a special occasion or just seeking fine food in a pleasant atmosphere, I gladly recommend Tempo .
The food is of good variety and excellently prepared and presented. The price is moderately expensive, but worth it. Only limitation was the shortage of staff, resulting in long delays between dinner and dessert and lack of opportunity to ask for additional wine or service. The waiters were pleasant and courteous but too few for the full house.
Someone in a facebook group recommended Tempo. It was really awesome. Only 2 things I would complain about, would be the price. It's a little pricey for me, but for a special occasion it's ok. Also with the entree's you don't get a salad or anything, which would be nice. But the dinner portions are perfect.
The staff were all very attentive, the food was great. It is a small restaurant, but the noise level was very low, so I could easily have a conversation. I think we were the youngest people there (in our 30's), and for a Friday night that surprised me., but that's not a turn off because the food was really good.
Had another enjoyable dinner at Tempo this Wednesday evening. The special salad of white beans and shrimp with fresh basil was SO tasty! We also enjoyed our entrees, which included two versions of veal scallopini and the trout - all cooked perfectly and nicely seasoned. There was a great dessert selection as well, and we enjoyed a slice of chocolate cake, an apple galette, and a sweet potato cobbler.
It has been several years since we were last at Tempo, but my husband and I celebrated our anniversary with dinner there last weekend. The host seated us in a quiet spot by the window. There were so many options on the menu that looked delicious, it was hard to decide what to order! But my seafood special and his veal from the menu were both delicious. The service staff was welcoming and professional. I promise we'll be back soon!
We dine here 5-6 times a year, and it is always a pleasure. Excellent cooking with a varied menu, including a long list of specials. They do superb jobs with fish, veal, and chicken, as well as pasta. Generally not noisy, so conversation is easy. Service is very good, attentive without being obtrusive. And convenient, free parking!
Nice menu and helpful service. Restaurant is nice on the inside, and the food is very good quality. I had a generous portion for an appetizer, and the Poulet Printemps was very well done, lots of veggies and well-cooked. I enjoyed the meal quite a bit- very reasonably priced for lunch.
Usually was good but in my last visit, the waitress was hasty, Did not give us the time to look at the menu, she was in hurry and did not show any welcoming attitude, looked angry. The steak was very poorly done and did not look like a steak at all. The fish and the thin pasta with crab and broccoli were good. Usually I had a good experience but not in my last visit
The food was fantastic as usual. Great selection to choose from. We go here a lot and the service was extremely slow. 30 min to get the appetizer. Another 20 for the main course. We didnt order anything unusual. Waitress didnt come back to ask about more wine until the meal was over. They seemed busy but didnt think it was enough to affect the service that much. We will go backs as the food is great but probably not on a Friday.
This was my third time dining at Tempo. It is a lovely restaurant, very clean, bright and the food is always delicious. I would not hesitate recommending this restaurant to anyone. My son-in-law is the executive chef at the Iron Gate and I know good food and ambience!
We had a delicious dinner at a lovely establishment. If you enjoy great food, white tablecloths and experienced service personnel who cater to your needs, this is the place for you. My swordfish was fresh and wonderfully prepared. Tom practically scraped the bottom of his Capellini entree. We will definitely return!
Decided to try this restaurant after seeing the positive reviews. The quality of the food/flavor is there, but it's simply not worth the price. I ordered a "jumbo shrimp" and polenta appetizer which consisted of 3 tiny cocktail shrimp and two even smaller cubes of polenta. If you are going to advertise an app with "jumbo shrimp" please either (1) use jumbo shrimp, or (2) put more than 3 of them in the dish.
The veal marsala was fine and so was a pasta dish we split. The service was slow.
Overall, the food was good but there are better restaurants in the area if you are going to drop $130+ on a dinner for two with drinks. It's obvious the restaurant hasn't changed since it opened in 1990 and the value just isn't there. Will not be back again.
Always a great place for special occasions and great memories of past evenings here. Very relaxed and extremely friendly with the meal above expectations especially the dessert tray!!!Thanks so so much you all should be proud of the eatery you run. See you next time
We dine here with some regularity. The menu always offers a range of specials, as well as a great selection of their "standard" dishes. They do an excellent job with fish, veal, and lamb. The wait staff is very helpful, friendly, and not intrusive. Usually it is reasonably quiet, so one can have conversation without shouting! We like this place and will continue to frequent it.
This was my first time at the restaurant and I will definitely come back. The service was great but unobtrusive and the food was delicious. Even though the dining room was pretty well occupied for a weekday night, it was relatively quiet and easy to speak with my dinner companions. All in all it was a very enjoyable evening
