Temple Gourmet Chinese Ratings and Reviews
Friendly service, generous portion sizes and great seafood specials for Valentine's Day that also happened to fall on Ash Wednesday this year. Shrimp and scallops were large and prepared perfectly. Also the calamari app was so delicious with a light batter we had never had before and hot and sour soup was also really good! Can't wait to come back. The only thing I would say needs improvement is the decor in restaurant.
I am *SO HAPPY* I found Temple Gourmet--I have Celiac Disease and it has been impossible for me to find not only gluten-free Chinese food, but SAFE-to-eat (for a celiac) Chinese food. The server was very knowledgable and even enthusiastic to tell me about all of the gluten free items (already marked on the menu) and assured me if I would like anything else off of the menu that the kitchen could usually accommodate and would work with me if they couldn't. I didn't even get this level of awareness and willingness in DISNEY WORLD, which I covet as the Mecca of all vacation destinations for a celiac's palette. So, so, so pleased with Temple Gourmet.
The only reason I didn't give service 4 stars, which I really want to because of the attention to my food issue, service in general was very, VERY slow (and I am super patient). It was very busy (Saturday night at 6:00) and our waiter was great in every other aspect.
No fish on the menu.
If you are looking for fish this is not the place for you. We've always enjoyed dinner here n the past. But this night was a different experience. The menu has changed. They have turned from a Chinese gourmet restaurant to a regular run of the mill Chinese restaurant.
Pro: We entered to find New Year's eve decorations. Families were gathered. The music was upbeat and enjoyable for many of all ages. We were seated near the bar. My family had 9 patrons. We explained our severe food allergies through open table. When we arrived, our server, Anna, was ready to make sure we would remain safe. Anna was wonderful! Our cups were never empty. All food was ordered correctly. The tastes were delicious! From the Peking duck to the beef and broccoli, wonton soup to the pork dumplings, fried rice to the white rice, etc. not one person left feeling hungry. The prices were accurate to the amount of food received. Temple is an amazing location with great staff. Highly recommend.
Con: There was a cold draft everytime the back door by the bathrooms was opened. That same door allowed headlights to shine into the diners' eyes while eating.
First bad meal here, after several very good ones. Night special was lobster fried rice with pound and a half lobster. Weren’t more than a few morsels of lobster, and it was served concurrent with the appetizer. Server apologized said kitchen was backed up by large parties ordering peking duck. Really not my problem. Was given credit for the appetizer, but wholemeal was very disjointed.
Our meals were quite good, though our server, Sammy, was not. The restaurant was less than half full, yet we had to ask him multiple times for simple things, and even then he didn't provide. He also misinformed us regarding menu items. It's a shame, because, with a different server, the evening would have been much better. Also, it was quite cold in the (no liquor) bar.
Food was very good. We shared appetizer for two and then each ordered a dish. We could have ordered less food. My only annoyance was the amount of prawns in the prawns and eggplant in garlic sauce dish. Six and not that large among the huge plate of eggplant. My partner had a beef dish and it was mostly beef.
Great food, excellent service, like the outdoor seating although it can be noisy with cars going by. However, that didn’t bother me because the food was delicious, portion size was generous, and noise is to be expected if you choose outdoor seating. I will go back.
