This was our first time to Temple and we 100% will be back. We've been to Peking Pavilion in the past which was also excellent and I would say the 2 are right on par in terms of quality of food and all of the offerings on the menu. However, Temple edges itself ahead of the competition by allowing you to make reservations and it is BYOB.
We had the peppercorn calamari and filet mignon egg roll to start and both were excellent. The breading on the calamari was super light and I recommend getting chili oil on the side with it. For the entrees, we shared the sizzling black pepper filet mignon (which you could literally cut with a spoon), the sesame shrimp (which were huge), and the vegetable lo mein.
For dessert, we split the banana flambe, which was also amazing. The food was incredible and our waiter was awesome as well in terms of suggestions, service and just overall being extremely friendly. If you haven't tried Temple yet, you're missing out!
We have eaten here several times and the food is always good. It is very noisy so I wouldn't say it was great for a romantic dinner. During the nicer weather they have outdoor seating, but it is first come, first served. We were served very quickly and our waiter (sorry I can't remember his name) was very attentive-making sure water glasses were filled and if the food was to our liking.
Excellent gourmet Chinese food, not typical Chinese fare. Have never been disappointed when eating here.
Excellent food and service. Huge portions. Definitely will return.
The food was good, our table was in a crowded busy section with lots of the waitstaff passing from 3 different directions. We asked for another table that was empty but were told that it was reserved. It was not filled for quite a long time. It was Chinese New Year but no special menu was offered 😡 Our waiter was nice but very soft spoken & has some difficulty hearing the non Chinese New Year specials
Very good food and generous portions. Will be back.
Friendly service, generous portion sizes and great seafood specials for Valentine's Day that also happened to fall on Ash Wednesday this year. Shrimp and scallops were large and prepared perfectly. Also the calamari app was so delicious with a light batter we had never had before and hot and sour soup was also really good! Can't wait to come back. The only thing I would say needs improvement is the decor in restaurant.
Great place! Excellent service! Excellent staff! Excellent food!
The service was excellent from the hostess to the waiter. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The food was good, and we would return.
Food was amazing and so fresh. We have now been twice and I am sure we will be back.
Unreal. Awesome food
I am *SO HAPPY* I found Temple Gourmet--I have Celiac Disease and it has been impossible for me to find not only gluten-free Chinese food, but SAFE-to-eat (for a celiac) Chinese food. The server was very knowledgable and even enthusiastic to tell me about all of the gluten free items (already marked on the menu) and assured me if I would like anything else off of the menu that the kitchen could usually accommodate and would work with me if they couldn't. I didn't even get this level of awareness and willingness in DISNEY WORLD, which I covet as the Mecca of all vacation destinations for a celiac's palette. So, so, so pleased with Temple Gourmet.
The only reason I didn't give service 4 stars, which I really want to because of the attention to my food issue, service in general was very, VERY slow (and I am super patient). It was very busy (Saturday night at 6:00) and our waiter was great in every other aspect.
Fantastic as always! Temple has ruined me for any other chinese food. Truly a wonderful experience from first bite to the last.
Food was great as well as our server “Q”
Will definitely return!
As always Temple does not disappoint. Chicken & Broccoli, chicken imperial, lobster fried rice, spring rolls, soup all outstanding. Chef at Temple is top notch. Food clean & delicious!
The food and the service were fantastic. We had a loud party of 8 and the staff were outstanding.
Always an awesome meal!
No fish on the menu.
If you are looking for fish this is not the place for you. We've always enjoyed dinner here n the past. But this night was a different experience. The menu has changed. They have turned from a Chinese gourmet restaurant to a regular run of the mill Chinese restaurant.
They were very attentive. It was a busy night..New Year's Eve! Great food and sevice and a good value!!!I will definitely be back for more and will even invite my Chinese brother in law who is very picky about his Chinese food!
Pro: We entered to find New Year's eve decorations. Families were gathered. The music was upbeat and enjoyable for many of all ages. We were seated near the bar. My family had 9 patrons. We explained our severe food allergies through open table. When we arrived, our server, Anna, was ready to make sure we would remain safe. Anna was wonderful! Our cups were never empty. All food was ordered correctly. The tastes were delicious! From the Peking duck to the beef and broccoli, wonton soup to the pork dumplings, fried rice to the white rice, etc. not one person left feeling hungry. The prices were accurate to the amount of food received. Temple is an amazing location with great staff. Highly recommend.
Con: There was a cold draft everytime the back door by the bathrooms was opened. That same door allowed headlights to shine into the diners' eyes while eating.
Outstanding food. Beautiful presentation. My favorite red bank restaurant.
Food was excellent. I guess that's what's most important. Waitress was rude to me and my 70 & 80yr old relatives. I will not be returning.
Always delicious food and great service st Temple. Filet mignon beef was tender. Appetizer salad with chicken and beef skewers were yummy too.
We dine here often. Open for Christmas worked for us this year and we just might make it a tradition. The place was full at 5:00. Glad we used OT to make a reservation.
Wonderful Chinese food. A very nice atmosphere with very friendly and attentive waitstaff. The food was terrific. The Peking duck is prepared table side and was delicious. Highly recommended.
Great chinese food with a flare. Attentive and knowledgeable serving staff. Great place for family and friends 😉
The food at Temple is always outstanding. This is not you average Chinese take out place. It is a well appointed BYOB with great service. We highly recommend Temple in Red Bank to our friends and family.
Our waiter was a mess. He was so busy trying to be entertaining that he got the order Wrong and was just generally poor. It’s not a good reflection on the establishment.
This is a great place: truly gourmet Chinese food! Everything is fresh and delicious and the portions are generous. The service is also very professional.
First bad meal here, after several very good ones. Night special was lobster fried rice with pound and a half lobster. Weren’t more than a few morsels of lobster, and it was served concurrent with the appetizer. Server apologized said kitchen was backed up by large parties ordering peking duck. Really not my problem. Was given credit for the appetizer, but wholemeal was very disjointed.
The food is always good. The staff is so nice, our waiter Joe is always nice and helpful with picking new dishes to try.
Long time user first time reviewer.
The food surpassed my expectations. The Lobster Fried Rice and Filet chunks in mushrooms were incredible. Had leftovers and they were delicious the next day for lunch. Will be back.
Excellent, as always. Lobster fried rice is a must!
Very Good food. Fantastic spring rolls and duck and ribs. Byo too
The food was delicious! My family and I had a few appetizers and shared two entrees. The Garlic Shrimp as amazing and the peppercorn chicken was fried perfectly. Order the banana flambe for an extra special treat.
Our meals were quite good, though our server, Sammy, was not. The restaurant was less than half full, yet we had to ask him multiple times for simple things, and even then he didn't provide. He also misinformed us regarding menu items. It's a shame, because, with a different server, the evening would have been much better. Also, it was quite cold in the (no liquor) bar.
Great experience overall, portions are huge, prices are low, taste is excellent
Food was very good. We shared appetizer for two and then each ordered a dish. We could have ordered less food. My only annoyance was the amount of prawns in the prawns and eggplant in garlic sauce dish. Six and not that large among the huge plate of eggplant. My partner had a beef dish and it was mostly beef.
My only complaint would be that the lettuce wraps should have been permafrost. Filling was excellent but putting them together at the table was messy. Everything else was delicious!
