Temerario Brings Beloved Bold Flavors of Mexican Street Food to Chelsea
Roughly translated, a Temerario is a bold, brave brother, a carnal, symbolized by the mural of the proud and strong luchador in our dining room. A temerario is arriesgada—reckless, sometimes irreverent...it’s also Chef Mario Hernandez's creative way with the food he grew up on in Cuernavaca Mexico. His fellow temerario at the bar, mixologist Christopher Reyes, serves small-batch agave spirits, house-made syrups, and fresh jugo (fruit juices) in an array of daring and delicious cocktails.

Amazing service, food, and vibes!
Staff is always friendly and accommodating. I always feel welcome here.
Everyone was very kind. The food and drinks were great for happy hour.
High prices, lousy service, bad food. Not worth the time or money.
Awful service, slow and oft incorrect. The food we did get was good. The staff was unapologetic and genuinely seemed intoxicated.
It was great but a bit expensive, quality very good!
Great food and atmosphere.
We got there and they came out with our food very late. We had to remind them several times. I think it’s also slightly under-staffed. The tacos were really bad. There was no sauce or salsa, just very dry. Would not recommend.
Did not have gluten free options
Great food! No bartender, so, limited cocktails. The service could’ve been better, but, was adequate. We’ll be back!
We had brunch here on Gay Pride. They were very crowded of course, but handled it so well. Servers and staff created a fun experience for us guests and we all had a great time as a result. I look forward to returning in the future.
I only had apps so I don’t want to speak to the food, but the person I was with liked the tacos.
Drinks are strong and cheap!! Tons of outdoor seating and a fun crowd. Definitely a good place to get after work drinks or casual first date. Quick service and friendly waiter
Probably one of the worst Mexican meals I’ve had
The food was 10/10 (very very good) but service was very slow. It took an hour from placing our order to food getting onto the table.
Good food & the outdoor seating was perfect!
Very unprofessional I wouldn’t go back food was okay nothing fancy about it
Best experience I’ve had in a while. Incredible margs and service.
Overall great experience!
Great food with good ambiance
Reunion with friends coming in through penn station!
Had a great time sitting outside at this restaurant. Staff was very attentive!
Hosts seemed confused by our reservation and took a while to get us seated but our servers were attentive and took good care of us. Food was tasty.
It's still COVID so not going to be super harsh as overall we did enjoy our dinner. The food was tasty but portions were small for what they cost. Semi surprised there were only 2 tacos per order. Drinks were yummy and service was good. Hoping this is just some COVID cost saving they're enacting.
First time visit. Food was amazing. Will return. Server was helpful.
Definitely fun experience with good food. It was busy and they have good drinks.
Good afternoon spot with outdoors seating for the most part, friendly service but there's a kitchen turnover period where kitchen is closed and tables were a bit too close for my comfort. I'm giving it 3 stars overall - but the food is tasty!
I liked Temerario! The atmosphere, food and drinks were good.
My only issue, our waitress missed every change to any meal. When asked to leave Chimichurri off or put it on the side, we were told yes. It arrived with the sauce on the beef.
When we asked to leave the veggies (avocado, fresh onion, tomato) off of the queso fundido, we were told yes. It arrived with the veggies.
We ordered a pitcher of margs without salt, of course it arrived with pre-salted glasses. They also tried to serve it to our 2 minors. I don't think they looked at them as they were clearly children under 14.
The experience in general was still enjoyable, minus those irritations
Can’t ever go wrong with their classic margarita and frozen Mezcalita! Food was delicious and the ambiance over all was great.
Kitchen was super slow. Everyone seemed to waiting on food, most of us outside in the shade with strong winds. Dirty silverware in my rollup, walked to the bus station to get my own since server was not around much.
Great service, wonderful food. Except the beef in the beef tacos was grizzle. Not edible.
Loved the brunch here! Bartender was the best.
We had a great night with friends. The drinks were amazing! Definitely plan on returning when it's warmer out
A good and tasty Mexican restaurant. I’ve been several times. Love the fried fish tacos.
Not a great place drinks excellent food less than ok
nice place, cute outdoor dining. enjoyed the food too.
You should support restaurants because they are struggling, but Temerario has to get it together. A very slow kitchen and overpriced entrees are a strike against it.
We came here with a Pulsd. The portions are very small - the carne asada on the menu says it’s 12oz but comes in 8 small strips... if anything it was 6-8 ounces. We ordered it medium and it came pretty rare. The nachos came with maybe 12 chips, although delicious. The steak tacos are good, comes with two but they’re an okay size. It’s quite pricey for the amount of food that you’re getting. I’m not sure if our portions were decreased because of the Pulsd but if that’s the case it’s quite foolish because the point of it is to want to try it out and return again. If anything I’d stick to just getting drinks/appetizers here and getting dinner elsewhere where you’ll receive bigger portions for the price.
I made a reservation here and got confirmation and everything, when I showed up the place was completely shut down. It was at 7:30 pm
It was closed and they still took my reservation. They should have Said so
