Amazing service and delicious food!
Telly's is always spot on!! Food, service and atmosphere. Awesome!! If we could we would be here every weekend. Love it!
Like always when we eat at Telly’s Taverna, we enjoy fresh and tasty food.....highly recommend!!
Tellys is a great place to enjoy a
fantastic meal. The drinks were huge, the food is reasonably priced
and delicious. Try the baklava!
The food was amazing with very large portions. The service was wonderful as well. We had multiple food allergies in our group which was no problem for them.
The appetizers were great but a little pricey. $12 for a slice of baked cheese is a bit high. All of the apps were very good. The entrees on the other hand were a different story. The red snapper was fairly flavorless and my chicken kabob was so dry when I cut into it there was saw dust. Replaced it for the biftekia which were much better but again pricey for some meat patties and soggy French fries.
We’ve been dining at Telly’s for 30 years. It’s the best Greek restaurant in Astoria. The owners treat everyone as if they are family. Food is always amazing especially the fresh salads and fish. You can’t go wrong. It’s our go-to restaurant forever !
Wonderful service, great authentic Greek food, and fair prices. All good.
Another good meal at my go to Astoria Greek restaurant. A bit noisy that night but overall very good
We love the food at Telly's. The renovations in the dining area are great. With the addition of the sound proofing dinner conversations are totally comfortable. Another great feature is the valet parking. Yay!! We love it every time we go
This was our first time at Telly's and you can tell from the moment you enter and view the fresh fish that this might be the real "Greek" deal in Astoria. I've been to several other restaurants in the area and somehow neglected this. As an American who lived in Greece, I am very particular about the authenticity of Greek food here and this passed the basic test. Standouts were the Greek Loukanika (sausage...not like Italian) and the Greek salad. Good tomatoes for this time of year (winter) and no lettuce (thank god!). The service was attentive and it is busy but they did not rush us. Enjoy.
This was my first time at Telly’s. Great food. Would definitely be back.
Has been a favorite of mine for many years since being introduced to it by a Greek friend.
Always consistently good and very authentic.
Dinner was delicious and prompt as always. Server was very good. We were seated in the back porch as there was a baptism party that took up the main dining room. That was distracting from the entire dining experience and very chaotic . They need to better plan out a more quiet dining experience for their consistent patrons, or close for their private parties. Our reservation was at 6pm on a Sunday night.
Telly's is a favorite for our family. We love Greek food. It is authentic and delicious. The wait staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The owner Dianna is always there and makes sure your needs are met for any occasion. All our friends and family love it and want to keep coming back. I am a huge fan and highly recommend them.
Great ambience, food was delicious!!! Service was great, very attentive.
We had a great meal at Telly's. Excellent service.
One of the many outstanding Greek restaurants in Astoria. Telly's has a very authentic vibe and specializes in fresh seafood dishes. The grilled seafood combination for 2 people is a perfect choice for a couple. Servers are friendly and helpful. Spacious restaurant, so perfect for any size group!
Excellent red snapper .. can’t wait to go back !
Me and the wife love Telly's been going for years ,this past Saturday we took 2 friends with us we had a problem with the new waiter at the end of finishing the entrees my wife went to talk to management they where so very sorry to hear about our service they gave us the complete meal for 4 and drinks ,deserts on the house I will always be there costumer all done Telly's thank you
Always a good meal.
Good and service great but server didn't know how to fillet the fish. Way too many bones in 3 of our dinners
FabulousFood great service
I really loved the food and service provided by the restaurant servers. All of them appeared to be very amicable and caring.
There is a reason why my family and I have been eating at Telly's for over 25 years. They not only expanded the size of the restaurant a number of years ago but they actually got better. The food is authentic and of high quality, and while they have a full Greek Menu my wife and I visit mostly for fish done to perfection and service that comes with a smile; OK, so they treat us like family. We drove down from New City in Rockland County (2 bridges away) and were rewarded with a visit from Nanna who was visiting from Florida (Previous owner) and Diana (daughter/current owner) made the rounds to say Hello. We enjoyed a delightful unhurried dinner with friends. Can't ask for better.
As always very good food, fresh fish and salads. The consistency here is amazing..always good.
I went here with friends on Friday evening for a birthday celebration dinner. It was our first time trying Telly's & we left very happy with our meal. The apps were excellent, especially octopus as one would expect in Astoria. Our only advise is to get the whole fish not de-boned & do it yourself - we didn't do this & it was hard to eat the tiny pieces we were served. The staff was helpful & our server was a great help with suggestions for our group! We will go back I'm sure, especially in the winter because their indoor dining room has a nice vibe.
Very simply, the best Greek restaurant in New York City. As much as I love an occasional lavish dinner at one of the high end spots in Manhattan, and most of them have excellent food, Telly's is just as good, a lot more reasonably price in a charming setting with consistently friendly service.
Their Horiatiki salad is delicious, not to mentioned served in the most beautiful salad bowls around, both the large and the small. Their meze are all superb. My favorite is either their Octopus or the Gigantes, but he list goes on. Their swordfish kebab is consistently melt-in-your-mouth delicious. So much so that I went there twice last week and ordered it both times.
My favorite - hands down!
A Saturday out with my wife. Great time, great service and great food. Seating was a bit tight but that's to be expected when the place was packed. Everything was wonderful. I would go back anytime. Also, they have valet parking and that is a huge plus in that busy neighborhood.
My wife and I flew in from Chicago to attend the USMMA football game. Open Table led us to Telly’s.
The previous reviews helped us select Telly’s. The welcome, the service, the food: Outstanding.
We had the fried cheese (can’t spell saganoki) and greek salad. So fresh. The tomatoes and feta some of the finest. We then had red snapper (they deboned) and lamb chops. Stunning.
Telly’s treated us w/ dessert—-donuts w/honey. An amazing treat for an amazing night.
The BEST place to enjoy authentic grilled fishes and authentic Greek delicacies. No hassle reservations make it the "no brainer" BEST CHOICE in Astoria. They welcome large party reservations too!!
Overall we had a great dinner. The food was great. I loved the appetizers. The Fish wasn't all that I thought it would be. The desserts were tasty for sure. Service was average at best.
Telly’s is a good restaurant. The problem is that it could be better. Also, with so many restaurants to choose from in the area, not sure it’s worth going back.
The food is generally good- not great , service is also ok. The problem is the price. It was about $50per person for 5 people. That was for 2 salads, 3 shared appetizers, 3 shared main courses, one dessert and 2 drinks. I think that’s a lot for a local, neighborhood restaurant that is nothing more than average.
Excellent food and service...
We have been enjoying meals at Telly's for years. When our relatives come to NY we always go there for at least one meal. This time, however, the food was tasteless and the service was friendly, but sporadic. My daughter is still waiting for her drink.
The calamari was greasy and bland. The saganaki was delicious.
We ordered two whole fish. The bass was good, while the Bronzini tasted old. On our way out, we noticed that the fish in the display looked old and tired and smelled the same.
Needless to say, we were extremely disappointed and will find a new Greek restaurant in Astoria.
Telly's Taverna always never disappoint me and my friends......its the best!!! I love Telly's and I love bringing my friends and family to Astoria and Telly's for good food and just great relaxing ambience. the service is exemplary, always!
Our friends meet us at Telly's during Labor Day Weekend. The bartender made me the worst Manhattan I have ever had, poured my wife a non-chilled glass of white wine and then charged me $30...In Astoria? We were seated promptly and then waited almost 10 minutes for anyone to come over. The menu offers many choices; we had 3 orders of whole fish and 1 order of Mousakka(sp). Jumbo lentils and lemon potatoes were the sides we selected to add The Mousakka was served warm, not hot? It was tasty but the whole fish which we asked to have filleted looked like a cat attacked it. Sloppy, rushed and unappetizing. Very little flavor and bad presentation. This place serves Diner-Quality food and our waitress was M.I.A. for most of our meal. You couldn't pay me to go back.
Very good place!
I'll be happy coming again!
Thanks a lot!
