Teikoku Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Service was absolutely terrible. Waited almost an hour for our entree and waiter didn’t even check to see if we needed a refill on our drinks or water. My halibut was not even edible. Extreme fishy taste. A friend at the table also tried it and said it was disgusting. Two other people had cold entrees. My husband’s drunken noodles was the only thing hot and delicious. Also the tuna bruschetta was also very good— I wish I got that for my entree. Very disappointing visit.
Typically eating at the bar is the way to go, but this time, the bartender was not attentive as the other bartenders. From what I understand from friends, this gentleman is always somewhat aloof when bartending. We will sit at a table next time we go to Teikoku, if this bartender is working the bar.
Shoved into dark back corner at first, then got moved immediately next to large party in other corner when there was plenty of
room in the restaurant - spoiled the whole special occasion. Some of the food was OK, other food was bland and no flavor.
Have been here before and it was much better, but will not return, not a good dining experience when there is so much
choice out there.
The Sunday Brunch was very good, only concern is some of the food was not hot.
It was the last hour - hour in a half before the closing time for brunch and the some of
the food was not warm at all. The food was delicious but would have appreciated and enjoyed much more HOT!
I was disappointed in my Pad Thai. It didn't have that hint of sweetness that I was looking for. It had a bit of a burned taste. So I was disappointed
The key lime pie dessert was a real disappointment too. It was not a pie or even a pie in a glass - it was just a mess to me.
Gelato was delicious though.
Restaurant is above average as far as food, service and atmosphere. The menu and web site are dated however. Neither offer vegan choices and tofu isn't offered as an alternative to meat & fish, yet could be so easily done. When I asked a waitress she pointed out gluten free choices!
Very surprised by the number of excellent reviews here. Went on a Sunday night and the place was crowded, so I expected a great meal. Appetizers were OK, not great and not terrible. But the sushi was very disappointing. For $17, I expected my Godzilla roll -- with shrimp, strawberries, honey and macadamia nuts as ingredients -- to be amazing. It wasn't. Sounded much better in the menu description. With a more skilled sushi chef, these ingredients should have worked harmoniously together but the execution here was just flat. My Teikoku roll was also unimpressive. I can't even remember what was in it; that's how unmemorable it was. My wife's shrimp tempura roll contained way too much rice (always the sign of mediocre sushi) and, according to her, was not worth the $7 price tag. My daughter's chicken teriyaki was boring. Just rice, chicken, a few string beans -- certainly not worth $15. And that's the main problem here. Center City prices for very average food. Our bill with tip was $101. For the experience we had, that's just ridiculous.
I had hoped this would be our new go-to sushi place in the suburbs. I guess our quest will continue.
I was introduced to Teikoku by a work colleague for lunch. Had the most delicious red Thai curry. I could tell the atmosphere would be perfect for an anniversary dinner and I was not disappointed. My wife and I celebrated our 23rd at a quiet table for two. Beautiful lighting, warm wood decor, delicious food (awesome knife skills dudes), Saki, wine....a perfect romantic night out. Go there....you'll love it.
We arrived at restaurant earlier than our 8 o'clock reservation as I saw that they still had open tables for 7:15 and 7:30pm but apparently this was a mistake as we the waited 25 minutes for our table. Our waiter was very good but very busy as this was a Saturday night. My son and his friend really liked their entrees but I was a little disappointed in mine as I expected something different, however, I loved the spices and flavors but there was too much rice. I may have to try something different next time.
I'm local and have brought my wife to this restaurant before, and it's been better in the past. The service was fine but we were seated at a table closest to the bathroom (there were other available tables left empty during our dinner!). My noodles were overcooked and my wife had sushi that came with an abundance of sauce on top of it- the sushi was drowning in it.
I don't like to complain but the food was not very good. Maybe I'm getting used to places like New Leaf nearby who put more thought into the experience with quality food and better seating.
