Ted's Montana Grill - NYC Ratings and Reviews
We were thrilled to be seated right away in a corner booth per my request on the OpenTable reservation. Good thing too, because it was packed. Ted's is only half a block from Radio City so it is a perfect location after the Rockettes on a cold December evening. There is a children's menu and the burgers are always good. The service was a little slow, but they were super busy. We come here every year after the show and are always satisfied as a family.
We went for a late lunch. We both had the bison cheeseburger with fresh cut fries. The burgers were juicy and cooked as ordered. The fresh cut fries were hot and plentiful. Had three beers and a Diet Coke. Bill was $69. We had a wonderful experience and definitely will return.
My burger and the steaks were very good; fries uneven but tasty. Roasted broccoli tasty but presentation meh. My huckleberry margarita very good, friend's mojito also.
I don't know if it was because a busy holiday Sunday, with res at 7, but service was not great. Drinks took forever, waitress nice but indifferent, and grand finale was waiting for the apple crisp coming to the table without ice cream and a sorry after the fact that they were out of everything. And instead of just saying I'll take it off the bill and leaving it we were asked well do you want it.
Decided on this as it was near Radio City after the Christmas show, and a little later on a Sunday. I understand about the holiday and the amount of people coming through, but there's no excuse for not letting us know in advance that they were out of something we were we ordered and then having it come to the table.
Glad we tried, will probably not go back.
We arrived and it took over 10 min to get our server. We saw someone next to us get seated later and their server arrived promptly. Of course, then, they got their food faster than we did, in spite of arriving later.
The server was slow in refreshing our coffee, we typically had to ask - with empty cups.
At the end, she must have been on break, as it took an inordinate amount of time to get our check.
She was a very pleasant person, but server skills need work.
We went to Ted's after the Christmas show at Radio City. Sat right down and orders taken promptly. The restaurant filled up quickly and despite the crowd we were served promptly. The food was great and bill reasonable. The staff did a great job despite the crowd. I would go there again. Try the ribeye steak , it was delicious.
Had reservation and seated immediately ( only one other table filled when we arrived) then the wait began for water, order to be taken and then for food - an hour to get food. Needed to be at Christmas show so when food arrived we gobbled. But that said , our waiter tried and food was good. Granddaughter ate the kids salmon which she loved. My salad was scrumptious and the others enjoyed their burgers including the bison. Place was packed upon our departure. Will definitely try again.
I've been going to Ted Montana for a while (mostly for business lunches). It's get very crowded especially at this time during the holidays. The service is sometimes slow but not to the point of frustration, so I'm ok. Wait staff is always polite and attentive which is always a plus.
Mgmt should figure out a way to contain the crowd at the door during the holiday season. It's uncomfortable and takes away from the experience for those who are seated nearby. It can feel as if those waiting for tables are crowding your space.
We go to Teds for the bison steak. Had the delmonico and it was excellent - served medium rare. Love the pickles and can never get enough. The dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives is always special. Varied menu to satisfy all ages. Wine list also very good and affordable, especially the house label. Enjoy the side veggies, especially the asparagus! Whenever we're in NYC we make it a point to eat at Teds. Great location near Radio City with reasonably priced quality food and drink. A bit noisy, but that only adds to the charm of being in the heart of NYC. Not a tourist trap.
The service was so bad I would never recommend this restaurant. It is too bad as the food was very good. We waited almost fifteen minutes to be seated even though the restaurant was not even 25 percent occupied. Then the waitress took forever to take our dinner orders and was mad that I called her over to the table. She told me she is "very busy". There are many choices in that area so I would recommend going elsewhere.
This wasn't our first trip to Ted's in NYC. If it was it would be our last. We've also been to the one in Coconut Point in Florida. We made a reservation and requested a booth. We were seated at a table until we asked to be moved. The restaurant was not busy. We were told the pre-theatre menu was not available during "holiday periods." We ordered off the menu. The medium rare bison burger was rare and mushy. The fries weren't crispy, but rather soggy. The baked potato was just ok. The NY strip steak was quite fatty. And the desert, the brownie a la mode was a disgrace. A brownie is usually soft. This was so hard we almost couldn't use a fork, and it crumbled when we were finally able to get it to separate into pieces. When we asked the waiter, who was annoying to say the least, blamed it on the cold ice cream on top and walked away! This was a treat for our daughter's birthday after seeing the Rockettes. A major disappointment, and the waiter's lack of interest quite unprofessional.
I have gone to this restaurant 3 times in the past few years, and it never disappoints. Good food and service. It specializes in meat, but you can order chicken or a salad too, if you are not a meat eater. I especially like using open table to make my reservations to this restaurant and never have to wait when I get to the restaurant. Very nice staff.
Having been to the Ted's Montana Grill in Atlanta I went in with high expectations and was not let down. We were there for pre- Rockerfeller show on a Friday night. We were running late, called and they were more than willing to accommodate us. The food was incredible. Know they do have offerings that aren't on the menu and are willing to accommodate your meal requests. Our server was incredible. All in all a fantastic NYC dining experience.
I was looking for a place near Radio City for out of town relatives, for lunch during Christmas season. I read mixed reviews, but decided to try it. I made a reservation for noon, but they seated us in a quiet booth in the corner as I requested at 11:40. This was a great option, since the booth was enclosed with wood, and even with my hearing impairment, I could hear my family, even when the room filled up by 12:30. Nice looking place, good service, and everyone enjoyed their choices. The bison Avalon burger was delicious, the bison meatloaf sandwich, and the farmhouse salad were perfect choices, and the vegetable sides instead of fries were good too! Even though it was crowded, they did not rush us. I would recommend this to others, and go back!
I made a reservation for 12 on a Saturday afternoon for our out-of-town visitors after seeing the Radio City show. The staff was unfailingly polite and helpful, and we all enjoyed our meals tremendously! After being told by a similar restaurant that parties of 10 or more are required to use their "prix fixe" menu for $45 per person and sign a contract before the reservation would be honored, I was thrilled and relieved to find there was no such price gouging at Ted's Montana Grill. We were comfortable and happy and we decided the moose head on the wall was "Ted." If you have to dine in the epicenter of tourist-ville, this is a very good option!
