Definitely overpriced. It has a big box vibe and not much personality. Food was underwhelming and service was poor. Brussels sprouts were soggy - will not be back
All Excellent, favorite place for lunch between old buddies
Good food and atmosphere
Teddy never disappoints. I like that the brunch menu changes but selections are still excellent. I hope they can find a way for the music (DJ) to be heard, no matter where you are in the restaurant. I enjoy it every time; but I enjoy it more when I can experience the DJ.
I was really disappointed in this restaurant. The lighting in the dining room was way too bright, which threw off the entire experience from the beginning. Secondly, the price of drinks were way too high for what was given, ex: $15 for an old fashioned that filled up 0.5 inches of the cup. Thirdly, they were somehow understaffed and the service was very slow, despite the dining room not even being full throughout the entire evening. A lot of potential, but really disappointing.
food was imaginative, well prepared and delicious. Service was wonderful
I have dined here before and enjoyed the experience, unfortunately this time was really different. We had a party of 5, I had reserved in advance. The hostess took us to a table set for 4 people and clearly sized for 4 people. When I reminded her my reservation was for 5 (all 5 people were present) she looked annoyed and said we could fit. It took them awhile to reset the table for 5. The appetizers and drinks were good. However all our meals arrived cold. Once taken back to the kitchen, warmed up and brought back out, all of us were underwhelmed by the food. Partially from the reheating and then in general the dishes (we had 2 different risottos, the gnocchi, a pizza) were either lacking in flavor, under seasoned and/or still not that hot. We had a couple different waiters attending to our tables and I do not recall anyone really asking if we enjoyed our experience or the food.
This is a great spot for happy hour and the appetizers have never disappointed but after this recent experience I am not sure we will return for dinner.
Food was fantastic aside from pound cake dessert. The Cesar salad & cornbread were sooo good. Portions are a little small, but definitely worth eating here!
The food was not as good as expected, nor as good as it should be for a restaurant that seems to be a cut above the rest. The atmosphere is very good. My burger wasn't.
When I made the reservation they should have told me that I was the last seating. Food was cold. They ran out of things on the menu. The lamb was aweful. The only thing I really liked was the macaroni and cheese and the French toast. Those items are not worth $60. The place is pretty. Waitress was available. There was no one else for her to serve.
My husband and I had a wonderful Easter Brunch yesterday. It was just what we wanted... great atmosphere, delicious food, not too quiet, friendly service. Thank you! And we will be returning!
I’ve only gone for the Sunday brunch but it is fantastic for that!
They were having a Seder menu for Passover, but for us the regular menu was a hit.
We went for the Passover meal. When I made the reservation I was asked if we wanted a Seder plate, I asked if there was a charge and was told no. The billed arrived and there was a $21 charge. The service was mediocre
at best. The waiter would disappear for extended periods of time and could not be found. They apparently ran out of food. Several items were presented much differently than described with substituted ingredients. There was a 20 minute wait for coffee which had obviously been brewed several hours before it was served. It took almost 45 minutes to be served dessert which was ordered at the beginning of the meal. When all these issues were mentioned to the manager, he did adjust the check.
Enjoyed our Passover Seder here and they did a GREAT job. Service was excellent, food was delicious and we were really happy we chose Teddy's for our event. Looking forward to next year!
Took our Waiter 30 mins to take our drink order. He also forgot to bring a drink we had ordered and we never ended up getting it. Wish the restaurant would have mentioned something about being fairly small plates. The steak entree is literally 4 pieces of steak. Food was mediocre, not super flavorful. Did love the decor and ambience though. Probably won’t be back.
Great food and service. As a Teddy Roosevelt fan, this place was a fabulous ode to his legacy.
We were seated right away. The wait staff was very helpful, very attentive. It is a free range kitchen. Which means the food comes out as it’s ready. Which could be a bit awkward if your food is there and your partners isn’t. The pizza was fresh, and delicious. My husband’s New York, was very small. More like an appetizer. Luckily I had plenty of pizza that he could eat.
Service was prompt and helpful. One of our party had a dish with morels but dish was lacking morels. Waiter brought a nice size bowl of morels to add to dish.
Would definitely go back..
I have never been more embarrassed to recommend we go to a restaurant and have it be such a bad experience. It started off good and went downhill quickly. Our server/ bartender apparently left. We had no idea. Her replacement never introduced herself, was not helpful at all. We waited over 45 minutes for her to come back. I have video!!! No water, no drinks, empty glasses. No manager, nobody. Huge revenue loss not to mention, we will not return. With so many outstanding options in DC, you need to get your front of the house together. We were not the only people feeling this. Several tables in the bar were annoyed at the complete absence of service.
went for my birthday because i love lincoln so much and i was not disappointed. food was amazing, dj was poppin and the staff was very attentive. will be back
Food and service were both great! It was our first time going to Teddy & the Bully Bar for brunch, and our server walked us through all the options. Only thing I would note is a little confusion between appetizer-sized entrees and larger entrees (you get larger ones if you're not doing the prix fixe option). A couple of us were served the smaller plates, even though that's all we were eating. Not a big deal, and our server did give one us of a complimentary dish when she noticed the disparity.
The whole premise of this unique restaurant is totally achieved. The bar menu of drinks from the age of Theodore Roosevelt combined with complimenting tasting plates totally works and is without comparison anywhere. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a really enjoyable restaurant experience.
Meet friends of ours Sunday night. Drinks were amazing, food was everything we heard it would be and more, wait staff was kind and knowledgeable- we will be back!
Awesome food. Service was kind but slow. But didn’t matter for us today.
Lovely all around.
Delicious food, but pricey. Brunch would be well worth it if you plan on going for the All-you-can-eat option and then just go to town on it. I ate a-la-carte and felt like I paid more than I should have for what I consumed. Terrible choice in music for Sunday afternoon....loud club music.
Service was outstanding, and the food was delicious.
Our waiter was wonderful. Made good recommendations, was friendly and funny.
We had to wait more than 30 minutes for our seat to be ready for brunch due to other patrons taking a bit longer in their seats. I think moving forward brunch reservations shouldn’t be taken after 1p to prevent this issue. This caused our meal and conversation to be rushed.
The food is good. The service can be a little slow at brunch.
Great food, nice ambiance, super great bourbon cocktails. The portions are small which we were told before ordering which was appreciated so we could order an appetizer.
I have been for both lunch and dinner before, and this was my best experience. While always good, the food was the best I’ve had. My out of town guests loved it all. Thanks!
Those check-marks in review can not really describe Teddy's.
Very courteous and attentive service. Randall was a star.
We asked for duck, and first time in my life we were asked if we wanted it medium rare.
At that point milady decided to play safe and ordered well done, I ordered medium rare.
3 days later I am still alive, and thoroughly enjoyed med-rare duck. They know where they get their ducks from, and know how to cook it!
Now a rant, may be it can add to your experience next time you visit Teddy's.
4 stars for food. After brief conversation I was convinced "melted brie" is what we would have. It was actually char-grilled, i.e. it was warmed, but not quite melted as we expected. Otherwise (breads, meats, duck) - impecable.
4 stars for ambiance. We did not get a private room ;). Also, there was a counter which should apparently house fresh baked bread at lunch time (we had dinner, so we had to imagine the loafs).
There was plenty of space between tables, overall we felt at ease and relaxed. Personnel -
Girl’s brunch was so much fun but the volume of the DJ was too low we could barely hear the music. Our waiter had too many tables and was unable to keep up with the customers demands but the food was good. Overall we all had a ball!
Awesome for Sunday brunch. All you can eat creative small plates and unlimited mimosas/blood marys.
Service was excellent. Menu sounded appetizing in the reading. My shrimp salad sandwich was tasty but b/c really small baby/salad shrimp were used, it was messier than I’d have liked.
Bought a $38 steak that had no seasoning and didn’t come with any sides. Rediculous
Great atmosphere and menu. Loved the braised beef, deviled eggs and caramel ice cream. Artwork was fun.
The drinks are incredible and the food is amazing. Some small plates were a bit awkward to pass around with clients but overall the food was insanely good. The service was extraordinary and the evening was quite a success with our clients and our team.
