went for my birthday because i love lincoln so much and i was not disappointed. food was amazing, dj was poppin and the staff was very attentive. will be back
Food and service were both great! It was our first time going to Teddy & the Bully Bar for brunch, and our server walked us through all the options. Only thing I would note is a little confusion between appetizer-sized entrees and larger entrees (you get larger ones if you're not doing the prix fixe option). A couple of us were served the smaller plates, even though that's all we were eating. Not a big deal, and our server did give one us of a complimentary dish when she noticed the disparity.
The whole premise of this unique restaurant is totally achieved. The bar menu of drinks from the age of Theodore Roosevelt combined with complimenting tasting plates totally works and is without comparison anywhere. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who is looking for a really enjoyable restaurant experience.
Meet friends of ours Sunday night. Drinks were amazing, food was everything we heard it would be and more, wait staff was kind and knowledgeable- we will be back!
Awesome food. Service was kind but slow. But didn’t matter for us today.
Lovely all around.
Delicious food, but pricey. Brunch would be well worth it if you plan on going for the All-you-can-eat option and then just go to town on it. I ate a-la-carte and felt like I paid more than I should have for what I consumed. Terrible choice in music for Sunday afternoon....loud club music.
Service was outstanding, and the food was delicious.
Our waiter was wonderful. Made good recommendations, was friendly and funny.
We had to wait more than 30 minutes for our seat to be ready for brunch due to other patrons taking a bit longer in their seats. I think moving forward brunch reservations shouldn’t be taken after 1p to prevent this issue. This caused our meal and conversation to be rushed.
The food is good. The service can be a little slow at brunch.
Great food, nice ambiance, super great bourbon cocktails. The portions are small which we were told before ordering which was appreciated so we could order an appetizer.
I have been for both lunch and dinner before, and this was my best experience. While always good, the food was the best I’ve had. My out of town guests loved it all. Thanks!
Those check-marks in review can not really describe Teddy's.
Very courteous and attentive service. Randall was a star.
We asked for duck, and first time in my life we were asked if we wanted it medium rare.
At that point milady decided to play safe and ordered well done, I ordered medium rare.
3 days later I am still alive, and thoroughly enjoyed med-rare duck. They know where they get their ducks from, and know how to cook it!
Now a rant, may be it can add to your experience next time you visit Teddy's.
4 stars for food. After brief conversation I was convinced "melted brie" is what we would have. It was actually char-grilled, i.e. it was warmed, but not quite melted as we expected. Otherwise (breads, meats, duck) - impecable.
4 stars for ambiance. We did not get a private room ;). Also, there was a counter which should apparently house fresh baked bread at lunch time (we had dinner, so we had to imagine the loafs).
There was plenty of space between tables, overall we felt at ease and relaxed. Personnel -
Girl’s brunch was so much fun but the volume of the DJ was too low we could barely hear the music. Our waiter had too many tables and was unable to keep up with the customers demands but the food was good. Overall we all had a ball!
Awesome for Sunday brunch. All you can eat creative small plates and unlimited mimosas/blood marys.
Service was excellent. Menu sounded appetizing in the reading. My shrimp salad sandwich was tasty but b/c really small baby/salad shrimp were used, it was messier than I’d have liked.
Bought a $38 steak that had no seasoning and didn’t come with any sides. Rediculous
Great atmosphere and menu. Loved the braised beef, deviled eggs and caramel ice cream. Artwork was fun.
Brunch was great. I’ll definitely be back again!
Good food, good vibes makes for a great brunch! Until next time!
Brunch on sunday. There were spots free in the front room but my mom and I were sat in the back room which was dark and filled with groups who were having a boozy brunch, not a calm brunch with their parent. Too loud blasting music and terrible Kale salad. I always remembered this place to have great food but I don't think I'll be back anytime soon (at least not for brunch)
Was pleasantly surprised by the seri e and quality of food as I had only drank there prior to lunch today. Will definitely return.
The restaurant was definitely busy the day we were there. The food was cooked to perfection. I loved my steak salad; the steak was tender. The servers were friendly and refilled our glasses often, and they were super busy!
They were fantastic. Excellent food and very professional staff. They went far above and beyond for us even though it was close to their closing time. Highly recommend the place!
The food was decent, the waiter was nice, but brought the check before we were even done eating dessert (we had not asked for it yet and were still eating so I thought this was a little rude). The ambiance is strange, there are great decorations but they are not accentuated because every light in the restaurant was on as bright as can be, too bright, doesn’t set as good of a mood as could be.
Very loud social scene. Food was ok. Broccoli waffle was interesting.
I was really looking forward to going here. Went to brunch with my girlfriend and was all excited and both our moods dropped significantly the longer we were there. The restaurant is REALLY nice, well kept, awesome decoration, and has a pretty cool looking bar. That's where the admiration stopped unfortunately. We were seated near the registers and I try to keep an open mind and realize that the staff are all human and have conversations between tending tables, but to go on and on about the drama over the weekend and use foul language is just pretty unprofessional. Don't get me wrong, I'm no one special by any means. Just a regular working class dude who wanted to get some food from a place themed from my favorite restaurant. I get I'm probably on the lower end scale of people that goes to a place in that part of DC, but the whole atmosphere really just brought me down. I'm not coming here to vent my opinion either, I wanted to give some constructive feedback to the manager working as well, but seeing him get (in my opinion) overly flustered at a table requesting to be moved and having to walk away from the whole situation, didn't give me a whole lot of confidence he could handle me talking to him for two minutes. Little side tip, the same water they pour from their expensive looking bottles into your water cup is the same water they use to clean the tables with. Wasn't too happy with that. So, either the high prices are to justify cleaning tables with clean filtered water or they're pouring regular tap water from these other bottles. Also, the aforementioned table that moved... they had sat at the table for 15 minutes before being moved and the manager gave the bus boys guidance not to replace the silverware and napkins that didn't look disturbed. How much trouble would it be to put new place settings down? At this end of this review, I'm realizing I was more disturbed by my experience than I originally let on. It was good food, but I won't be going back
We had a table of 10 and the service and food was outstanding!
I would have given the food a higher rating, except for a problem with the side dishes. My two dining companions had steak, which they enjoyed very much. But the accompanying vegetables were so salty that they couldn't eat them. Since we were heading to Ken Cen we didn't have time to send them back. I had the flatbread (tomato, basic, pesto). It was huge and tasted great, but the crust was pretty doughy despite the fact that it was thin and I asked for it to be extra crispy.
fun atmosphere. nice menu. my meal was a little saltier than I'd like it to be, but overall, it was a good experience. wait staff were very nice and helpful.
I ordered the pork belly and received, MAYBE, one bite of food after cutting out the fat. I was very excited to go here and my fiancé and I walked away very disappointed.
The restaurant's decor is so eclectic and beautiful, which provided the perfect environment for brunch. The restaurant is large, but is very bright and the crowd was energetic pushed along by the great DJ. As far as the actual "brunch," every dish that we ordered was fantastic and cooked perfectly. All of the people at my table remarked about how great the service and food was and that they would definitely be returning and recommending it to their friends.
I love Teddy's , but our experience on Sunday was not very pleasant. We went for the all you can enjoy brunch. First, I sat a good 10 minutes before any of the wait staff acknowledged me. I could understand if the place was very busy, but we were there close to when they first opened. To add insult to injury, another table was seated after us, and the waitress acknowledged them and brought them their drinks, first. Things didn't seem to get much better. There were times the waitress was MIA for a good 10 minutes or more, our glasses sat empty often, and food orders were placed slowly or completely forgotten.
Next, we were seated by the window, which is next to the waffle station. Every time the waffle chef made an order of waffles, he sprayed the waffle maker with some type of oily, chemically smelling product that drifted right over to our table. It literally took our breath away. I got up to walk the restaurant to see about moving to a different table, but the omelette station in the back of the seating area seemed to be putting off the same noxious fumes! Maybe the ventilation fans were down, but it was pretty horrible. I left stinking of burnt oil, and coat and all had to go straight to the dry cleaners.
I love to brunch here, but my experience on Sunday will make me think twice before rushing back. The food is very good and mimosas are great, but it not just the food, it's the whole experience. If you feel that you NEED to go here, wait until spring when you can grab a seat outside.
Ehhh food quality wasn’t there, although it is presented to you very nicely
We were sat in the very back of the restaurant where they seat birthday parties and such, even though I requested a table in the front room. There were two very large and very loud parties on either side of us, so much so that we had to shout to hear each other. The server was slow and nonchalant, I had to wait almost 15 minutes for a glass of champagne. The food came out in so many different orders that by the time we got what we actually ordered, we were full. Not the best time, but I’m sure I’ll be back at some point
Great our waitress august was phenomenal
Our waitress, August, was fabulous! She had suggestions for everything and was a great conversationalist
I would have given a much higher rating but we had some minor challenges. One member of our party ordered his Duck well done. It was quite rare as if the message didn’t get to the kitchen or the kitchen ignored on principle. I will say the manager came right over, we received a newly prepared meal as requested and it was delicious! Then somehow one of our desserts got lost. When we asked, it was sent right away. The manager can back and he comped both the duck and the dessert.
We would go back again to give them a second chance.
Very nice dining experience for our evening meal. The red wine gnocchi and no flour chocolate cake were fantastic. My friend enjoyed the salmon. I would dine here again.
There are two parts to this place. A bar that was very lively and loud. And there is a quieter dining room side. Recommend reservations.
