Teddy & The Bully Bar Ratings and Reviews
I would have given a much higher rating but we had some minor challenges. One member of our party ordered his Duck well done. It was quite rare as if the message didn’t get to the kitchen or the kitchen ignored on principle. I will say the manager came right over, we received a newly prepared meal as requested and it was delicious! Then somehow one of our desserts got lost. When we asked, it was sent right away. The manager can back and he comped both the duck and the dessert.
We would go back again to give them a second chance.
Very nice dining experience for our evening meal. The red wine gnocchi and no flour chocolate cake were fantastic. My friend enjoyed the salmon. I would dine here again.
There are two parts to this place. A bar that was very lively and loud. And there is a quieter dining room side. Recommend reservations.
Given the proximity to our office, we've been to Teddy's many times and the service is always hit or miss. This time was more of a miss... We had to ask multiple times for water refills, salt/pepper, etc. One meal was brought to the table cold instead of hot. Food was good, but slipping from what it once was. It is still a good option for a business lunch, but if the service and food continue to slip we may need to look elsewhere.
The ambiance was very nice at Teddy’s. The drinks were pretty good and strong but a bit exotic. I couldn’t order a drink solely based on the name. They’re all themed after Roosevelt.
The food left more to be desired. I ordered the kale salad. It’s huge! Enough for two definitely. Wish the waitress told us. It also needed a better tasting dressing. It was mostly vinegar. It was fresh though.
Also ordered cauliflower which tasted good but the breading needed more flavor. Next ordered the cinnamon role pancakes which was a basic pancake with cinnamon filling and “cream cheese” frosting on the side. The frosting was made of cream cheese just confectionary sugar. It was better with plain old syrup. Can’t say I’ll come back for brunch but loved the ambience/decor and drinks.
My wife and I dined at an early hour on a very slow night but still received attentive and friendly service. The dining rooms and bar are very appealing although the faux game heads on the wall are odd. The food selection was interesting with many combinations that are not commonly seen. My wife chose a salmon dish and I halibut. The preparation was very good but not excellent. The price was much more reasonable than I expected for a down town DC restaurant. PS. I ordered raw oysters at the bar which were excellent.
Great lively atmosphere to gather with friends for brunch and bottomless mimosas. My favorites item here for brunch is the waffle station. The omelette are great too at the omlette station, but the wait can be extremely long. The rest of the food is just average to me.
Enjoyed lunch at Teddy & the Bully Bar. It was busy and quite noisy when we were there at 1:00 P.M. but that improved as the crowd thinned out. The food was very good and we had attentive service. I would definitely go again although I might try to go at an off time when it would be quieter.
This was not my first visit here but by far my worse. The food was bland and our service was less than par. I had great experiences previously but was VERY disappointed yesterday. Spending almost $100 for two people made it even worse . It's obvious that there was some kind of change in the chef at some level.
I liked Teddy's. Went there for lunch with a supervisor and it was a good place for us to get to know each other. Front of house was welcoming and seated us right away. Service was good. I had a Cobb salad. It was pretty good but not distinguishable from other Cobb salads I've had. It was also considerably more expensive but I guess that just means I need to try other things on the menu; see if the quality to price ratio hits better on another item. Overall, solid lunch spot.
Went to Teddy’s for the first time and was dinner was wonderful. Had a flight of Old Fashioned’s and only #3 tasted like one. Deviled Eggs with Peking Duck were good. Duck Tartare was fabulous! Cornbread was Signature. Ribs were good as well. Eclectic menu. Small portions. Overall excellent.
I had been to this location for a happy hour and was very happy with the drinks and the snacks we had. But when we came back for dinner we were not as impressed. Service was just ok, the entire restaurant was super loud and the food was good but nothing special. Will not be coming back for anything more than a drinkat the bar.
We loved the cornbread, brussels sprouts, and cauliflower and cheese croquettes. All our salads were great. The entrees were okay, nothing special. Our server was just awkward - he seemed kind of annoyed to be there, and wasn't good at knowing when to break in to ask if everything was okay and when to let the conversation roll. The setting is nice but the tables are so spread out that the room feels a bit like a banquet hall. The bar scene looked good - we will check that out next time.
The food simply was subpar. I don't recommend coming here. I view it as a waste of $80+. We ordered the risotto, croquettes, and salmon, in addition to the Rio Roosevelt and sangria drinks. The salmon is awful. The risotto is meh. The croquettes are meh. Oh well. It's a sunk cost.
We have frequented Teddy for brunch and holiday dinners. While the food for our latest brunch was not up to previous standards it was good. I think it was too many fries or unhealthy items. Noise level was WAY to high, no way to enjoy conversation with my friends.
When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by the smell of freshly baked bread which helped motivate our hunger. The bread was absolutely delicious, as were the cocktails. We ordered several plates to share (three people) including brussels sprouts, butternut squash risotto, and a porchini mushroom dish. All were superb and well-portioned for the price. For an entre, I ordered the scallops and was delighted, while others ordered the day's special and the chicken. After a delicious dinner, we moved to the bar where we had excellent espresso martinis. I would definitely recommend this establishment for a delicious evening out.
Went for lunch with a business associate, food was overpriced and not flavorful. We had the Cuban and a Caesar salad.
The Cuban was dry and way too small for the price. The salad was cumbersome to eat and looked right out of a bag. I could make it at home in 2 minutes. Dressing was in lumps on the whole lettuce leaves. We will not be back.
